I, The Dragon Overlord

Chapter 613 - The Valkyrie Who Stayed on Earth

Chapter 613 - The Valkyrie Who Stayed on Earth

Cthulhu eventually fled, allowing the Norse gods to focus their attention on Surtur.

After Thor's initial two strikes, he rode to his father’s side to launch a joint assault against the giant.

Surtr's flaming sword was mighty, but under the combined might of Thor's hammer and Odin's Eternal Spear, it lost its destructive power. The fire giant had just been released from his seal and had lost most of his power. Although he roared fiercely, he was utterly defenseless in the face of Odin and Thor's combined might.

The flames on the giant's kilometer-tall body gradually dimmed. Meanwhile, leaders of various nations in the United Nations, who were observing the situation on the Antarctic continent, breathed a sigh of relief. From the current situation, it appeared that humanity wouldn't be wiped out. The fire giant capable of destroying the world had been completely subdued by the two mightiest Norse gods.

For the numerous people closely following this life-and-death matter for humanity, this outcome brought immense joy. Humanity truly was the most adaptable of all species, constantly surviving multiple apocalyptic crises, even if they were aided by the benevolence and assistance of the gods.

Praise for Odin dominated various major websites on the internet. While belief in Norse mythology had become extremely rare, it still existed. Especially in the some regions in the Nordic countries where Christianity had yet to erase them. Faith in the Aesir was sure to make a resurgence.

Heads of state from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and other Nordic countries seized the opportunity during the UN conference and engaged in intense discussions about whether to revive the ancient faith. Eventually, the conclusion they reached was that once they returned to their respective nations, they would propagate the beliefs of the Aesir gods among their people.

Although the Nordic countries were nominally Christian, their piety could not compare to that of Southern European nations such as Italy. Moreover, with billions of people worldwide adhering to Christianity, it was unlikely that god had enough time to bless each of them. Therefore, why not adopt faith in the Aesir gods, which was followed by only a limited number of people in the world?

They believed that the great gods of Asgard would pay more attention to their Nordic nations with only that many people believing in them.

In the past, these countries would never have done this, especially when Christianity propagated the theory of an all-knowing, all-powerful, and single God. But now, that theory had been debunked. Although Christ was powerful, when facing the Aesir, the Vanir, the Olympian gods, and various Eastern belief systems, Christianity's claim of a single, all-powerful God had been shattered.

Humanity had been fooled!!

When people realized the error of the theory of an all-knowing, all-powerful, single God, they would look back at history and find that Christianity's dominance, almost exceeding all other beliefs, had not been due to the might of the one true God. Instead, it was the result of Christians who fought their way to prominence!

Especially now, with the appearance of extraterrestrials, it confirmed that there were many divine extraterrestrial races in the universe. So while Christianity might dominate Earth, it doesn't necessarily mean that on another planet, faith in the Aesir gods wasn’t more prevalent.

Moreover, with the help of Marvel, the resurgence of faith in the Norse gods should be a lot easier. With Odin and Thor personally demonstrating the return of the gods, the Nordic countries made the swift decision to embrace their ancient faith.

They were returning to the most ancient beliefs, reclaiming their oldest national pride.

"Oh god! Come and see, there's a new god!"

While the situation in Antarctica was being settled, a particular expert, who had been watching the large screen all along, exclaimed once again, capturing the attention of the crowd.

A massive figure, clad in robes and carrying a thunderbolt, appeared in the skies above Antarctica. Although His face was indistinct, His majestic demeanor and lordly presence were unmistakable.

The thunderbolt in His hand wasn't a mere divine weapon; it was actual thunder and lightning held in His grasp, as though He was the embodiment of thunder itself.

This colossal apparition in the sky raised His hand and hurled the thunderbolt downwards. The sky darkened as a colossal lightning bolt, thousands of meters wide, descended from the heavens, striking Surtur's head, which had already been left stupefied by Odin and Thor's combined assault.

The fire giant released a deafening cry that shook the earth. The apocalyptic sword in His hand slipped from His grip and plummeted to the ground. Odin acted swiftly, casting a rope that enlarged in midair, swiftly ensnaring the kilometer-tall giant.

"Is that rope Gleipnir? The legendary artifact that bound the wolf Fenrir?"

"That figure appears to be Zeus! The thunderbolt in His hand is proof. In Greek mythology, Zeus' weapon is thunder. In mythology, Prometheus stole it from Him and defeated Him!"

"Didn't the explorers who went underground in Antarctica say that the underground city was of ancient Greek style, but it imprisoned Surtur? It looks like the Olympian gods and the Aesir gods have joined forces to seal the chief instigator of Ragnarok!"

"Odin and Thor, the great gods, seem to be leaving!"

“......”

After Odin used Gleipnir to seal Surtur, the giant immediately weakened. His enormous form rapidly shrank until he was of similar size to other giants.

Subsequently, Odin and Thor exchanged nods and looks. Once again, a rainbow spanning the planet appeared in the sky, encompassing the two gods, the evil god Surtur, and numerous Valkyries.

Seeing this scene, people understood that the Aesir gods were returning to Asgard. Some were saddened while others were relieved.

The sorrow came from the realization that as mere mortals, they couldn't converse with the gods. These powerful gods could casually destroy the Earth, and if it weren't for the benevolence of the gods, using runes to shield Antarctica, humanity might have perished.

With the gods' departure, those in power and authority felt a sense of relief because the presence of such a mighty god overshadowed their own influence, making their power seem insignificant.

As the rainbow bridge disappeared, the area was once again without the presence of Odin and others. The sky, previously ablaze like a burning cloud, returned to calmness. The polar night descended, and the beautiful auroras illuminated Antarctica.

However, many geographers knew that there would likely be challenges ahead. The divine battles had fundamentally altered Antarctica's topography. These geographers would need some time to redo the map of Antarctica. Although it sounded alarming, it wouldn't be long before the world maps had to change because Antarctica had transformed.

“Eh? Take a look, one of the valkyries did not leave. She’s staying in place!!”

Someone with sharp eyes saw that a Valkyrie had remained on Earth after the rainbow bridge disappeared.

Immediately, there was a stir among the people.

This was a Valkyrie, a divine warrior! While she might seem somewhat diminutive compared to a god like Odin, in the eyes of humanity, she was nothing short of a superhero.

In an instant, world leaders began to contemplate establishing a connection with this Valkyrie. Her stunning beauty made conversing with this goddess a delightful prospect.

Furthermore, in the minds of some young men, fantasies began to form. They wondered if they might have a chance at a romantic relationship with the Valkyrie, envisioning a moving love story akin to Brunnhilde and Siegfried!
