Chapter 123: Deeper then it seems

Chapter 123: Deeper then it seems

"You heard His Majesty… what do you have in there?" Mordred spoke, signaling the soldiers to apprehend the man while another opened the cage.

The merchant could barely say a word as he was being dragged to the side. Somehow, the king had found him out, even though he made sure he was extremely sneaky about it.

One of the soldiers pulled down the fabric covering the wagon and instantly—

Ahhhhhhh!

He screamed, falling to the ground.

Everyone had the same reaction. Inside the wagon was a huge minotaur, with chains surrounding its body and its eyes glowing with fury.

Something about the monster made everyone feel fear and caution.

Yukio had summoned her chains, and Mordred her blade.

Meanwhile…

'A minotaur? Didn't think I would see one like this, but damn, it scared me. So much killing intent. The bigger question is, why is a merchant traveling with dangerous monsters? Last I checked, minotaurs can't be tamed, and it's against the law.' Ha Joon thought to himself, shifting his eyes to the man.

?Shit! I can't believe I was caught. How? I made sure to hide its mana using the crystal. I'll definitely be interrogated. I'll be dead if Master Zeno finds out.

What should I do? What do I do?!?

'Well, would you look at that, this might be even deeper than I thought.'

Boom!

Raaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

The minotaur roared, using its weight to shake the wagon violently.

"Your Majesty, please step back, I'll end this quickly," Mordred spoke, her sword glinting under the sun. She knew taking out the threat came first.

Ha Joon tapped her shoulder. "Do not kill it for the foolishness of one of our own, that would be quite unfortunate," he uttered.

"What are you…"

Mordred was surprised as she watched Ha Joon walk towards the minotaur.

Why the hell was the king moving closer to an out-of-control beast?

They all wondered as they watched.

Standing only a few steps away from the wagon, Ha Joon looked up at the minotaur.

Rarrrrrrrhhhh!

The monster roared with rage.

"Ahh, poor thing, it's being controlled. Its thoughts are not its own."

Ha Joon stretched his hand forward and—

Slash! Slash! Clank! Tan!

He sliced off the chains and listened as they dropped to the floor, the minotaur now free.

The soldiers that were next to Ha Joon ran further back as the deafening roars of the monster echoed through the surroundings.

Mordred and Yukio were prepared in case things went south.

The minotaur spotted Ha Joon first, who was standing in front of it with a dumb look on his face.

Enraged, the minotaur leaped down from the wagon and stampeded towards Ha Joon like the wild beast it was.

'What the hell are you planning, you crazy man… Do I need to come save you? Do something already, it's getting closer…' Mordred panicked, her hand on the hilt of her blade.

Out of nowhere, Ha Joon did something none of them expected.

Using the back of his hand, he whacked the minotaur on the head, sending it flying to the side and crashing into the wall…

"What do you do when a beast is being mind-controlled…"

These were Ha Joon's words as he began to walk towards the monster that was still trying to stand up from the chin-damaging slap it had just received.

They all watched, still a bit cautious even though they knew Ha Joon was extremely overpowered — he was their king after all.

Step by step, Ha Joon got closer to the beast.

Finally, he stood close to it, and then he spoke after saying another sentence—

"You beat it till its brain is back to normal."

[Ciel doesn't think anyone says that.]

Grin!

Baam! Baam!

Ha Joon kept punching the minotaur, giving it little to no chance to react. The monster was being pushed back to the wall, its legs, guts, and head bashed in with every attack.

It took a good minute, but the minotaur's eyes went back to normal. One could see clear black pupils before it collapsed to the ground.

"There we go, back to normal," Ha Joon said, turning around to face the crowd.

Mordred and Yukio sighed with relief, and the guards at the other end fought the urge to clap for their king.

"Transportation of monsters is illegal. You have tried to break the law twice, and as such, you will obviously face a fitting punishment. Take him to the jailhouse; I will send my knight to fetch him later," Ha Joon said to one of the soldiers. "And also, tell the Queen I won't be making it home tonight."

"Yes, Your Highness!" The soldiers bowed.

'You were saying? Told you it would work…' Ha Joon's gaze shifted to the minotaur. 'Begs the question, this merchant mentioned a name—Master Zeno, was it? Only criminals with a powerful status can have people like this panic and call their names. Just like I suspected, this might be deeper than I thought.'

?Ahhh~ His Majesty is so manly. No, Yukio, restrain yourself, you're making it too obvious. Hold me down, Lord Ha Joon, touch me, please. Ahhh, I could die right now if you kiss me. Let's have tons of kids together and start a family in another country.?

Keeek!

Ha Joon slowly veered around to look at Yukio, who had the most plain expression on her face; it would seem almost impossible to believe those thoughts were hers.

'This is why I hate switching on my mind skills; it glitches sometimes.'

[Your mind skill is not—]

'I said glitch!'

With that done and settled, Ha Joon and his subjects continued to make their way toward the land where he was supposed to find his dragon.

They traveled until the sun went down, and thus they had to make camp somewhere in the woods — to continue their journey the next day.
