Chapter 79: Exploring Secrets.

Chapter 79: Exploring Secrets.

The carriage rode across the dirty road, the gentle clatter of hooves the only sound breaking the afternoon silence.

Seated inside were Ha Joon, Mordred, Yukio and the new member of the group, Sinex.

While Sinex was busy eating the loaf of bread she had taken a liking to, Yukio was massaging Ha Joon's arm.

It had been three days since the so called bandits attacked the Left central.

Despite Mordred and Belinda being quick to respond to the issue, they were unable to catch a single one of them — it was like they knew exactly where and when the Knights of Camelot would approach them.

The people living in the Left Central residence had begun to flee to nearby towns and cities.

The bandits' attacks were becoming too frequent — twice in three days — and every time, they had been able to escape the wrath of the Knights.

It had gotten to the point where Mordred had to station her personal soldiers all around the borders of Left Central, just to avoid failing yet another attempt to capture the bandits.

And thus, Ha Joon was headed there to have a word with the Duke of that region.

The trip took a couple of hours, but finally, they had arrived there.

Upon getting to Left Central, Ha Joon took notice of a couple of things; the citizens there were all armed, and most of the streets were dead, not a single soul roaming about.

It had gotten that bad.

They arrived at the Duke's mansion shortly after.

—Sit!

Ha Joon crossed his legs, Mordred and Yukio standing behind him while Sinex laid on the chair, her head resting comfortably on his lap.

Opposite Ha Joon was the Duke of Left central, Lumley Erionat, the man in charge of the city. He had two guards standing behind him.

"It's an honor to finally meet the famous Prime minister." Lumley bowed his head a bit.

"Quite the same." Ha Joon took time to read the body language of the man.

From the items in the room, it wouldn't take a genius to know this noble was wealthy. He had white beards and no hair on his head to compliment it. Worn around his fingers were different types of jewels.

"I have an Idea as to why you are here, it's regarding the current bandit attacks, am I correct?" Lumley asked.

"Good, so I don't have to waste my time explaining it then." Ha Joon picked the cup of coffee on the table, "Why haven't you taken care of it?".

"What?"

Lumley blinked, taken aback by the question.

"It's your city, you obviously know it more than anyone else. And yet, you couldn't provide the necessary help and information for the knights to fully comprehend these bandits." Ha Joon didn't hold back.

"With all due respect, no one knows who these guys are or what they want … their attacks are so coordinated. Even I can't-"

"So you agree you're incompetent?"

Lumley grunted with frustration upon hearing Ha Joon's words.

"What…what are you implying, L..lord Ha Joon?"

"Oh— you're incompetent, it's just three words, Duke Lumley, even a child can understand that. But let's shift that and move to the real issue at hand,--"

Ha Joon extended his hand to the side, and immediately Yukio placed the documents into his grasp.

Now in his hands, Ha Joon began to read what was written in there -

"So you managed to embezzle more than 50 million eres in a span of one year. Artoria gave you three major landmarks in Left Central, one of which was intended to be used as payment for the soldiers serving to protect Left Central— funny… interesting, you never did that, did you?"

The Duke's face paled. "I-"

"And let's not forget the money you made selling off demi-humans to other countries, my god you make Hitler look pale in comparison".

"No! I don't know where you heard that from, but it's a lie!" Lumley yelled at the top of his voice.

Ha Joon's eyes glinted with amusement as he glanced up from the paper-

"Oh? Is it? Because every demi human you have sold off has been accounted for, and even the secret hide you kept as a cavern to imprison them is being swarmed by my knights as we speak." Ha Joon smiled a bit.

Panic hitched on the Duke's face.

"You have no proof I was involved in this!"

"That would be true, in all honesty I wouldn't have known about this if I didn't look into you, so really, you should blame the bandits."

"That doesn't answer-"

Pfft— Hahahaha!!!

Ha Joon bursted out laughing, covering his mouth to avoid spitting all over the table. He couldn't contain himself any longer.

"Relax! Hahah, I was just joking, come on, cheer up!" Ha Joon sighed a bit, the laughter still lingering in his voice. MvLeMpYr-exclusive-content

Although the Duke wasn't buying any of it- fear was still hitched on his face. He had been caught—he knew it.

"Before I forget, I've placed this city under the Nobleman Hemsworth's care, he will be taking over from here, so you need not worry about it anymore, you can freely live your life as a peasant."

"What?!!! You can't just do that to me?! Do you realize how much I've-"

"No, but I need you to realize I don't really give a shit. The noble will be here in a few days, you know what to do…" Ha Joon winked at him.

Silence took over.

And Ha Joon stood up, adjusting Sinex from his lap–

"Just so you know, I have more than enough proof if you ever plan to lie about what you did… as long as I'm here… corruption has no place in Camelot."

Step!

That was all Ha Joon took, for the Duke to suddenly stretch his hand forward, a huge fireball forming — aimed at Ha Joon.

"I refuse to go back there! I'll kill you before I ever become poor again!!!"

"My my, how indecent of you…" Ha Joon spoke with a calm look on his face.

—Slash!

The hand the Duke Lumley had so proudly aimed at Ha Joon came falling to the ground, with blood spirling in a circle.

Sinex had molded her arm into a blade and sliced off the Duke arm.

Disgust written on her face as she spoke -

"Bastard, who do you think you are?".

The Duke suddenly screamed, holding his severed arm as he dropped to his knees, his blood rushing on the ground.

The guards behind him knew better than to act— Morded being there was enough reason for anyone to think twice.

Ha Joon looked at the Duke, an evil smile creeping on his face.

"And now you just tried to attack the Prime minister of Camelot for no reason… you know what that means right? Jail time".
