Chapter 193: Monster Family Second Trailer Online
Su Yang looked at Chu Xia. “I guess she’s okay. I only know she comes from a wealthy background because she has an ‘airport’.”
Chu Xia was stunned. She looked down and saw...her beautiful shoes. She angrily stomped her feet. ‘This b*stard! I can’t do this anymore!’
She pouted and went back to her seat. She thought she did not care about her size, but she muttered ceaselessly as she walked back, “I don’t understand why boys like them big! They are so heavy! It’s like carrying two water balloons walking around! Smaller is better. At least...at least...I won’t show the shape of my body! People will focus on my dress instead!”
Chu Xia looked down again. ‘Argggh!’
The grumpy Chu Xia sat down in her seat, took her phone out, and put on her earphones. She tapped on TikTok to ease her mood.
Just as she was scrolling, she scrolled to a cute girl’s video. The girl seemed to be a rising TikToker and she was telling a joke to the camera.
Chu Xia listened to the joke but quickly got bored. Just when she was about to swipe away, a black shadow zoomed behind the cute girl.
Chu Xia shuddered. ‘What is that?!’
The girl in the video seemed to have noticed the situation as well. She lifted up the camera and searched the whole house and finally located the black shadow in a storeroom.
The girl carefully stuck the phone over the seam of the door. It was dark at first, and rock music could be heard with the black shadow dancing to it.
Chu Xia glued her eyes to the screen, afraid that she would miss the slightest detail. As the video got brighter, a little ent, warped in branches, was dancing to the rock music under the moon.
Chu Xia’s jaw dropped. A single thought popped up in her mind: ‘This is CGI, right? It’s fake, right? But it looks so real!’
At the end of the video, the little ent moonwalked and turned around, showing its big head and big googly eyes that took up half of its face.
‘It’s so cute!’
The little ent seemed to notice someone was taking a video of it dancing, so it tilted its head and ‘Gru-ed’.
Then, the video ended abruptly.
Chu Xia’s girlish heart exploded when the little thing ‘Gru-ed’.
‘IT’S SO CUTE! What’s that?!’
Chu Xia tapped on the account and saw the name Urara SuDeeny. The video that she just watched was the latest, and the account had not posted any new videos for two days.
‘Aaaargh?’
Her curiosity was torturing her badly. ‘Why hasn’t she updated anything?! What is that? Is that an ent from the legends? I mean, if it’s not some tree spirit, what could it be? What happened to the girl?’
It was the first time Chu Xia got frustrated because of a cliffhanger. She watched the video two more times and gave it a like and followed the account. It was then that she noticed the video had received over 400,000 likes and was still going.
‘This is going to be the next big thing!’
With that in mind, Chu Xia downloaded the video and sent it to Su Yang.
‘Hmph! Since the cliffhanger got me good, I’ll make you anxious as well!’
Su Yang was ‘studying’ in his seat before he heard Deeny’s voice in his ears. “Master, Ms. Chu Xia has sent you a message via WeChat.”
‘Hmph? Is it me or does Deeny address Chu Xia differently?’
Chu Xia took his phone out and tapped on WeChat and saw the video Chu Xia sent him. He tapped on it without much concern. Since he had the bone conduction earphone, he was not afraid that the sound would leak out.
He realized that the video was the one he made with Deeny.
‘What’s wrong now, girl? Are you my fan now?’
Su Yang glanced at Chu Xia and noticed that she was also looking at him. The girl then turned around giggling. She was so delighted.
‘Ha! You made fun of my chest size. Now, you will have to suffer from the cliffhanger!’
...
After class, Su Yang tidied up and went home to continue the video-editing. The edits this time around would be a little more difficult. Since the green screen was used, he had to merge the footage with the one Deeny shot last night.
Deeny’s footage showed her buying a milk tea to quench her thirst. With a dozen little monster beans helping her out, the shooting went well. Deeny’s acting would be the key to the video. Thankfully, she had done her homework, so her acting was decent.
Su Yang edited the footage together, then added subtitles and effects. He had to do extra work since there were other little monsters making their appearance.
The effects were added to give the little monsters a grand entrance, and at the same time, cover their tracks. If some professional creators noticed the video and realized that it did not have any effects, it would lead to more misunderstanding, and ultimately, problems.
After Su Yang completed the video, he sent the file to Deeny and told her to post it that night.
Deeny also updated him about the number of views and likes the previous video received. The first video rose in popularity, and it had received more than 500,000 likes and more than 3 million views.
That video alone brought Deeny more or less 100,000 new fans. Su Yang was a little shocked by the numbers. He did not realize that a single TikTok video could spread so wide.
However, it was good news as it proved that his way of bringing in the newer members of the ‘Monster Family’ with traffic was workable.
‘Next, the second video with the milk tea shop. Let’s see how it does this time...’
Su Yang stopped by Pool’s milk tea shop on the way back. After the weekend and the initial discovery hype, the milk tea shop’s popularity started to cool down.
The sales dropped from 500 cups per weekend to 100 cups a day.
Su Yang believed that if this second video received good feedback, Pool’s milk tea shop would see a surge of customers again, and the income would surely multiply, hence contributing to his Silver Mission!
On the next morning, which was a Thursday, Su Yang only had one class in the morning: Old Zhou’s Modern History Essentials.
A quick thought later, he decided to go to class since everything was on track at the moment.
Wang Dong, Chen Xiaoyun, and Liu Xin were taking care of the part-time job apps under the new Qidian E-Commerce whereas Liu Zi Jun was in charge of “Find Me”.
Pool was taking care of the milk tea shop, and Deeny was taking care of the video part.
As the owner of everything, Su Yang could finally catch a breath of relief.
He arrived at the lecture hall and took Deeny out. He opened her and put her on the table, scrolling Weibo as he waited for the class to start.
He was not exactly interested in Weibo now, but “Find Me”‘s future goal was to replace Weibo, so he must understand his competitor well enough.
A few scrolls later, he noticed someone sit down beside him. He turned around and saw Li Runze, Mr. Smart Guy. He greeted, “Oh! What a coincidence!”
Li Runze still seemed frigid. “It’s not a coincidence. This is your lecture, and the reason I am in your class is to talk to you.”
“Huh? Talk to me? What can I do for you?” Su Yang was confused.
Li Runze did not answer. When he noticed Deeny in Su Yang’s hands, his eyes started to shine. “What brand of tablet are you using?”
