Chapter 697: Cellphone Factory Completed
With that thought in mind, Su Yang put down his phone and closed the curtains. With a faint flash of light, he entered the virtual space.
At that point, the virtual space had changed drastically. Behind the castle was a large, dark building which looked like a huge PS4 game console. Its body was flat and upright with all of it wrapped tightly in metal and not a single gap to be seen. In the middle of the building was a groove in the middle that looked like it could be opened.
On the cliff next to the castle, there was another building that looked like a plate. It was fixed on the cliff, completely white and in the middle of it was a pillar that looked like a rocket, which was very beautiful.
Retracting his gaze, Su Yang called Little Deeny out and they went to the [Cellphone Development Factory] to have a look.
Hence, they walked around the castle and arrived at the phone manufacturing factory. Su Yang and Little Deeny walked around the factory several times but could not find a place to enter.
Then, Su Yang looked at Little Deeny, while she did the same as well before they both widened their eyes in confusion.
After a while, Little Deeny asked Su Yang, “Master, why don’t you... Touch it?”
Su Yang was stunned for a moment. Then, he touched Little Deeny’s face. “And then?”
Little Deeny’s face turned red. She stomped her feet in embarrassment. “Master, I meant you should touch the factory!”
It was only then that Su Yang realized that he had misunderstood. ‘However... Little Deeny’s face is really smooth and tender, comparable to a baby’s.’
While sighing, Su Yang reached out to touch the exterior of the factory.
As expected, as he pressed his hand on the base, a notification popped up in front of him.
[Do you wish to activate the Cellphone Development Factory?]
An ominous feeling rose in Su Yang’s heart. ‘Don’t tell me this d*mned system is going to be charging multiple fees like the domestic online games? Are you telling me even activating it would require payment?’
Hence, he said tentatively, “Yes.”
Fortunately, his premonition did not come true as a notification arrived from the system.
[Activation Successful]
Accompanied by this notification, the entire [Cellphone Development Factory] started to move slowly like a huge mechanical monster. The metal around it started to shrink and after a while, a futuristic oval-shaped building appeared before Su Yang.
It stood on the ground like a giant egg, but just like the metal on the surface, it was black. This dark color had a strange texture and it was very beautiful. Plus, the groove on the front of the metal building also had a transparent door.
Su Yang walked over and a green laser shot out from the top of the door. After scanning Su Yang’s body, a mechanical voice rang in Su Yang’s ears.
[Verification approved. Please enter.]
After that, Su Yang walked in.
Little Deeny followed closely behind Su Yang and wanted to enter. However, the door quickly shut tight and scanned her again.
After a while, Little Deeny’s voice rang in Su Yang’s ears. “Master, I can’t enter. This building is saying that my identity is abnormal.”
Su Yang touched the earpiece behind his ear and looked behind him. He realized that Little Deeny was outside the door and was jumping around to attract his attention. Although it was just a thin glass door, it blocked all sound and even prevented Little Deeny’s voice from entering.
Hence, Little Deeny could only communicate with Su Yang through the bone conducting earphones.
After Su Yang communicated with the machine program in the factory and gave Little Deeny the authority to enter and leave using his own identity, the factory finally allowed Little Deeny to enter.
After entering the factory, Su Yang and Little Deeny took a look around.
In the end, they realized that everything that they could see in the factory were all mechanical arms. Apart from that, there were many tools and tables for those tools, but they were all non-operational.
Su Yang and Little Deeny walked around the factory aimlessly for two rounds before they arrived at the center of the factory where a huge screen was placed.
This screen looked like a replica of Little Deeny’s doppelganger, but it was much bigger. Based on Su Yang’s estimation through looking at the screen, it seemed to be at least 100 inches.
As the two arrived, the screen lit up and showed the series of parameters of the cellphone factory plus the details of the phone that they could customize.
There were many details such as the logo, size, dimensions, packaging and other external parameters. Furthermore, there were also some system adjustments.
On the other hand, the smartest thing was that rather than having Su Yang manually choose each and every adjustment, there is a default option provided.
Hence, since it was just an experiment, Su Yang chose the default option and went on to the next step.
The next step was to choose the number of phones to be manufactured. Su Yang tried to drag the bar to its maximum number and realized that the highest number of cellphones that could be manufactured was 10 million units. ‘In other words, the maximum number of phones that can be per batch was 10 million units. Hmm... That’s quite awesome.’
At that thought, Su Yang tried to manufacture one unit first.
Instantly, a notification appeared on the screen.
[Please submit the relevant raw materials. If you have insufficient materials, you may choose to pay using coins.]
Su Yang clicked on the raw materials and realized that they were densely packed like a bill of material which mostly consisted of metal, sand, wood and so on.
However, Su Yang did not have anything right now, so he chose to pay with some coins.
[Total insufficient materials will cost 10 coins. Confirm?]
Su Yang pondered for a moment. ’10 coins is literally nothing to me right now. Let’s just go ahead and try it then!’
With that thought in mind, Su Yang selected [Confirm].
Moments later, the entire cellphone factory started to operate.
All the mechanical arms in the factory began to coordinate their movements. Some were printing icons, some were making the packaging box, while some were cutting. However, the strange thing was that even though so many mechanical arms moved together, there was no sound throughout the entire base. It was as if... Everything was fake.
Then, one minute later, a beautifully packaged phone appeared in front of Su Yang.
Since Su Yang did not make any customized choices, there was no logo on the phone’s box. However, it did not mean that it was simple because it had even been sealed with an outer layer of plastic.
Hence, Su Yang tore apart the plastic seal, opened the box and took out his phone. He found a glass screen and two slightly thicker bone-conduction earphones. However, there was no charger or data cable included. ‘Seems like this is solar-powered, just like Little Deeny.’
After that, Su Yang pressed on the glass screen and the phone instantly powered up. In just a second, the phone had completely turned on and a familiar interface appeared on the screen.
Su Yang fiddled with it and realized that it was very similar to the glass screen he was using at that moment.
Then, Su Yang looked at Little Deeny and asked, “What do you think?”
When he turned around, Su Yang realized that Little Deeny had been frozen on the spot for some time and Her eyes were flashing with binary code.
Su Yang pondered for a moment and came to a realization.
‘That’s right, I haven’t launched the rocket yet, so this should mean that all the glass phones are directly linked to Little Deeny.
‘In fact, if the phone is too far away from Little Deeny, it won’t even be able to be turned on.
‘After all, strictly speaking, this is just a display glass and not a phone. There’s no assembly system inside and everything has to be transmitted through a signal.’
With that thought in mind, Su Yang waited patiently for Little Deeny’s reaction.
A moment later, Little Deeny returned to normal. The data in her eyes disappeared and she said to Su Yang, “Master, when this phone is switched on, it’s automatically connected to me.”
Su Yang nodded.
Little Deeny then said, “Apart from that, I’ve also found out about the operation and usage of the [Cellphone Development Factory] and the [Satellite Launching Rocket Base].”
“Oh?”
Little Deeny explained, “After all, these things are considered derivatives of me. Therefore, I’ve automatically obtained a lot of information after I’ve been connected to them.
“This [Cellphone Development Factory] can now produce a phone every minute. The phone packaging and system types can all be customized to our liking. Also, you’ve already seen the bill of materials, so if you would like to produce a phone using coins, it will cost 10 coins per unit.
“Compared to the complicated raw materials, I suggest we use coins to have it manufactured during the early stages. Later on, we can collect the raw materials on a large scale and transport them to the island to be stored in the factory.”
Su Yang was listening patiently as Little Deeny continued, “Currently, the production rate of the [Cellphone Development Factory] is 1440 units per day, equivalent to 43,200 units per month, which is severely lacking in terms of efficiency. However, the [Cellphone Development Factory] can be upgraded, which would increase its production rate upon upgrading.”
Su Yang was speechless.
‘A pay-to-win mobile game... Pui.’
Little Deeny said, “If it’s not upgraded, you can also use some coins to accelerate production, which isn’t expensive. All you need is to spend 100 coins every 24 hours to double the production speed.”
Su Yang was speechless.
‘As expected... It’ll become much stronger after paying!’
Little Deeny then said, “Other than the [Cellphone Development Factory], as long as we launch a rocket from the [Satellite Launching Rocket Launcher], we’ll be able to cover half of the Earth and transmit data through outer space.”
Su Yang asked, “Do I need to pay coins to launch it?”
Little Deeny said, “Yes. Each rocket costs 20,000 coins.”
‘Thank goodness it’s not that expensive.’
Little Deeny then said, “Retrieving the rocket would cost 50,000 coins.”
Su Yang was now speechless.
‘There’s even an option to retrieve the rocket? Plus it’s more expensive to retrieve than to launch it?
‘This is no longer pay-to-win! This is forced-to-pay!’
Seeing that Su Yang was going crazy, Little Deeny quickly explained, “Master, you mustn’t think that this price is unreasonable. Retrieving rockets is actually much harder than launching them. Nowadays, many countries can only launch rockets, but not retrieve them. So, they’re unable to reduce their logistics cost.”
Su Yang asked, “How much is the rocket and the satellite respectively then?”
Little Deeny blinked and said, “A rocket costs 200,000 coins each, while satellites are cheaper, they’re 20,000 coins each. However, the[Satellite Launching Rocket Base] has given one of each for free.”
Su Yang heaved a sigh of relief. ‘No wonder that the [Satellite Launching Rocket Base] is so expensive.
‘Even though this system is a little despicable, it still has a bottom line.
‘Hmm... Unlike myself...’
With that thought in mind, Su Yang took the phone and left the factory with Little Deeny. They planned to visit the [Satellite Launching Rocket Base] on the mountain. ‘If it’s appropriate, I’ll try launching a rocket.’
With that thought in mind, Su Yang and Little Deeny left the cellphone factory and started hiking.
Previously, when he was building the [Satellite Launching Rocket Base], Su Yang did not feel that there was anything wrong with his plan. After all, it was a [Satellite Launching Rocket Base]. The higher it was, the... Closer it was to the sky.
Plus... It did actually look good.
However, when he actually wanted to head up to the [Satellite Launching Rocket Base], Su Yang wished that Little Deeny could teleport with him!
‘This f*ckin mountain is so difficult to climb!’
After a long time, Su Yang and Little Deeny finally arrived at the [Satellite Launching Rocket Base].
