Zack said angrily in a raised voice, “Cornelia, I get that you want to put on a brave face for others, but do you need to do that with me? Haven’t I seen you at your worst?”

Zack was about to explode. “You protected Marcus like crazy before. Even a bad word about hirn would set you off. You told us countless times that you wanted to be with him forever Now, all of a sudden, you guys are divorced. Do you expect me to believe nothing happened?”
“Let the past be the past. There’s nothing to talk about.” Cornelia didn’t want to bring up Marcus again.
Zack was so mad he wanted to strangle her, “Cornelia, are you trying to kill me with frustration?”

Zack warned. “Don’t think by staying silent I’ll stop asking. You need to tell me what happened, or no one’s getting any sleep tonight.”
