Chapter 73: Food is always the Best Thing
? Status
Toru Minasuki
Level: 31
Race: Human Primary Job: Swordsman – Secondary Job: Mage
Rank: III – Skill points: 516
My level and skill points increased before and after I saved Finlis. My rank has also increased accordingly.
This is the second time the rank has risen, including when it changed from level 20 to level 21.
“Somehow, I can see the rules of ranking up.”
Rank I is level 1-20.
Rank II is 21-30.
Rank III is 31 ~.
“Is the rank related to the upper limit of one’s level?”
In my case, I acquired [Limit Break], so my rank rose.
However, ordinary people do not have a [Limit Break].
This is the reason why “Lost” people have not been able to increase their levels.
In the same way, Eargard locals also have a level cap, and the limit for each individual may differ depending on their rank.
“Their rank is a parameter that indicates the upper limit of one’s level.”
I concluded it based on the information available to me.
Therefore, I checked each skill.

? Title [Nesis servant]
“Oh! I grew!”
A skill that I had never acquired before [Taming] had suddenly become active.
“No way, skills can grow so quickly…”
Esther and Lily said it would take a long time for skills to grow, so I did not expect much.
However, I acquired [Taming].
“Does that mean I have some talent?”
They had also said that it would be different if I had a talent, so it probably means I have a talent for taming.

As I, recall taming Pino was not my first attempt at taming.
In the Forest of Finlis, I halted the Silver Wolves with just my eyes.
In addition, in the dungeon that I went to in the rank-up request, I made the Silver Wolves follow my commands using [Intimidation].
When I lived in Japan, I also had a dog as a pet.
These experiences must have influenced my acquisition of [Taming].
“The other skills are … well, nothing has changed.”
The only new skill is [Taming].
I carefully checked the skill board to see if there are any unexpected changes.
<Feint> <Reversal> <Tough Love>
<Cushion throwing> <Sumo Step> <Sumo Entrance> <Bow Twirling Ceremony> …
[T/N: The skills sumo related BTW.]
“-I mean, this sumo skill series. I wonder if this was also put in by Nesis-sama. If so, that person is too familiar with sumo… There is even a bow twirling ceremony.”
How can this skill be useful?
I cannot think of anything to acquire.
After that, I checked the skills from top to bottom, but I could not find any skills that grew naturally.
I think I have trained a lot, and I have grown to some extent based on the skill board.
Based on common knowledge the higher the level of the skill, the harder it is to raise.
[Sword Arts] and [Magic Arts] are already Lv5 and already at the middle level. [A/N: Because the counter maxes out at level 10.] [Note: The author left a note, nice.]
Unless you live in a world where all of your skills are already maxed-out, it is not going to be easy to raise the skill level.
In Kendo, it took me 31 years of training to go from the first to the eighth dan.
As Esther said, it takes a lot of training time to improve your skills.
However, I can easily raise my skills.
I realize once again how amazing the skill board was.
By the time I finished checking my skills, the sun was starting to set.
Seeing that, I head to the kitchen and started preparing dinner.
Lunch was only steak and soup that I could quickly cook.
For dinner, I wanted to try a dish that would take a little longer to cook.
As for the [Cooking] skill that has maxed out, I am now able to cook and season meat to a godly level.
However, improving my skills does not automatically give me knowledge.
It is only my techniques that can be raised through skill.

I had many dishes I want to try though.
However, the seasonings were overwhelmingly insufficient for my purpose.
“I have never made seasonings from scratch.”
Miso, soy sauce, mirin, sauces, ketchup, mayonnaise, etc…
To recreate the dishes, I had eaten in Japan; I needed to make the seasonings first.
“It would have been nice if the market sold them, but they did not…”
When I went to the market for lunch, I also secured some seasonings.
Nevertheless, the market did not have most of the seasonings I was looking for.
All I could find was salt, pepper, vinegar, and chili.
I found some other unique seasonings, but no miso or soy sauce.
“If I have soy sauce, you can make Japanese Simmered Fish!”
I was hungry for some Japanese food.
I do not miss Japan, but I miss Japanese food.
Unfortunately, even the ingredients for seasonings are not available in Eargard.
There is no Jiuqu to make miso and soy sauce, which are essential for Japanese food. [T/N: Jiuqu is the starter agent for fermenting miso and soy sauce.]
No matter how much you boil and mash the beans and add salt, you end up with salted beans.
Therefore, it cannot be helped.
I left the Japanese food for a while and decided to make some from the seasonings that I could make.
First, I will make mayonnaise.
I have never actually made mayonnaise before, but fortunately, I know the ingredients.
Oil, eggs, salt, and vinegar.
Therefore, I took out the ingredients from the [Inventory] and left the rest to my skills to make the mayonnaise.
“Oh!”
As expected, [Cooking ?].
In less than thirty minutes, a bowl of mayonnaise was finished.
“… Is this a little too much?”
There is no refrigerator in Eargard, and unpasteurized mayonnaise is quick to spoil.
If left at room temperature, it will be spoiled tomorrow morning.
“The next time I make some, I will try to restrain myself…”
Now that the mayonnaise is complete, I continued making tartar sauce.
Tartar sauce is easy as long as I have mayonnaise.
Boil the eggs and add the onions, vinegar, and salt.
Originally, I wanted sugar, but I gave up because it was so expensive.
“Kukkukku …”
While I was making the tartar sauce, I also made the main dish and the side dishes for tonight.
I was cooking the food I have been craving for so long, that I became so concentrated during the cooking process. I forgot about everything else.
“Fuhaha!”
As the sun began to set, the kitchen was filled with the sound of ingredients being fried in oil and the sound of my laughter.
