Chapter 87: Pang Sheng Village, The Passing Of Time
Chapter 87: Pang Sheng Village, The Passing Of Time
...…
After perusing the system interface, Azmodeus got a good gist of what had happened to it over the last period of time.
And honestly, it came as quite a pleasant surprise to him. After all, the system interface was beginning to look rather cluttered.
He just hoped this trend would extend to his physique's when he amassed more than three of them…
But for now, everything seemed to be progressing quite smoothly, as his Evolution Essence had already reached the Quintillions.
And then there were Traits, of which he had around 65!
Every single one of them could go for a rank up into E-Rank, but considering that he didn't have enough Evolution Essence for such splurging, he decided to focus on the few that would give him the most immediate benefits.
Following this decision, 20 Quintillion Evolution Essence was deducted from his Evolution Essence Bank, leaving him with around 22 Quintillion left.
Well, there went all that saving I did…
He lamented his bank account essentially splitting in half for a few seconds before he looked at all his E-Rank Traits and saw all the various boons that came with this mass rank-up.
In particular, his Mirror Mirage, Stealth, and Cloud Shroud Traits had all spiked up in overall effectiveness, as Mirror Mirage could now summon 10,000+ Mirror Mirage's, all with increased strength margins and intelligence.
Furthermore, his Stealth Trait was now capable of keeping him hidden from the sights of someone in the Half-Step Tribulation Transcendance Realm!
And then there was his Cloud Shroud Trait, which had gained the ability to keep the Heaven Exploding Cave Abode underneath a deep veneer even without Nao Long being present.
This would mean that something like what happened with the Inner Deacon would not happen again unless Azmodeus allowed it, or if the strength of the intruder surpassed the Unity Form Synthesis Realm.
He doubted someone of that level would come to his humble abode, but it was hard to say for sure, especially when considering that the River Serpent Sect was becoming a little on edge with the continued advancements made by the Razgod Empire.
The war between the two Apex Factions had already reached a point where only one of them would be coming out of the conflict in one piece.
And when you put all the various hegemonies of both factions into the mix, it was hard to say if the Heaven Exploding Cave Abode would somehow find itself caught up in the tumultuous chaos.
It was for this reason and many others that Azmodeus constantly worked on improving his cultivation, and he wasn't planning to stop his industrious mindset any time soon…
…
Time once again passed inside the cave abode of the 'Secluded Immortal', as so many years flew by that mortals were beginning to make a new village on the side of the mountain where Azmodeus resided.
And on one particular day, a few of these mortals hiked up the mountain, looking to find the home of the one deemed the 'Crimson Devil God'.
One would think that they would be scared about the idea of meeting a man with a name like that, and they would be correct…
But the villagers had no choice…
If they weren't able to acquire the assistance of an immortal, then there would be no hope for their village to be able to escape the calamity that had found itself at their doorsteps!
-
"Is this really the place, Village Chief?"
The voice of a man wearing your average commoner clothes resounded, as he looked toward a decrepit old man holding onto a walking cane while approaching the area underneath a sign that said 'Heaven Exploding Cave Abode'.
There was nothing especially noticeable about this sign; however, every mortal looking up at it couldn't help but revere the mere meaning implied behind such a domineering name.
"..." The Village Chief looked back at the man who spoke as he replied, "It was said that the immortal made a meteor fall down from the heavens a few dozen years ago, and the result of that meteor plummeting down was that hole in the top of this mountain."
His finger was outstretched, pointing in the direction of a gaping hole that had a diameter of around three thousand meters.
Azmodeus had forgotten to fix up the 'little' hole that Nao Long made all those years ago, so in the end, stories started to spread among the common folk, depicting how meteors or battles among the gods occurred in the area—battles that were said to have happened before most of them were even born.
Nonetheless, it was precisely these types of rumors that led to the Secluded Immortal's infamy being spread far and wide among those who lived in the surrounding areas.
In fact, people claimed that they had even seen a full-grown dragon flapping its wings through the skies before abruptly transforming into a small girl.
This girl would always walk up the 'Fallen Immortal's Mountain', seemingly going to meet the Secluded Immortal.
She had been around for dozens of years, and even for the elders of the village, they couldn't recall a time in which she wasn't part of the living myths of Pang Sheng Village.
And today in particular, the villagers of said village made their way up the mountain, following the same path that the young dragon girl did, aiming to head straight into the tiger's mouth of their own volition…
-
"Excuse me, Sir Immortal! We have come here from the nearby village of Pang Sheng, looking for your guidance on a matter that could affect your peaceful life on Fallen Immortal Mountain!"
The voice of the Village Chief echoed out as he looked into the dimly lit cave in front of him—a cave that held untold mysteries and a dangerous aura permeating the air around the entrance.
However, after waiting a few minutes for a response and receiving none, the Village Chief was about to go a little closer to the cave when suddenly, a voice that sounded like it came from ten different eras in time reverberated within the Cave Abode:
"The only thing disturbing my peace is you all. But I shall hear you out just this once, so tell me what it is that has happened."
"Y-Yes, Sir!" The Village Chief responded while talking a few steps back in reverence before kneeling and continuing, "A few months ago, when the kids and younglings were playing around in the fields, a sudden phenomenon occurred-"
"A phenomenon?"
"Ye-Yes, Sir Immortal. Following a flash of light that lit up the whole sky, a meteorite came flying down from the heavens!
A few of us were injured when the meteorite fell, but we were lucky enough to come out of the encounter with no casualties-"
"Get to the point," Azmodeus interjected with a tone that allowed no refusal.
"O-Of course, Esteemed Sir!" The Village Chief replied with sweat raining down his wrinkled face before he continued, "After this meteorite fell, it crash landed on a certain cliff, and since that moment, an indescribable glow has been emitted from the meteorite!
And the weirdest thing of all was that the meteorite was incapable of being broken into pieces! In fact, we couldn't chip off even the smallest of chunks, even after months of going at it with our strongest men…"
