Chapter 18: Unescapable Grasp
"Oh yes!" The familiar voice rang out as Hale looked at Captain Aliea, who slowly took off the cap she was wearing with a sinister smirk and started the car before immediately driving off.
Trying to quickly kick open the door, what he felt was an intense pain in his foot and the door didn't even bulge at all...
"Why the craziness? It's not like I'm a monster or something..." Captain Aliea said, this time her voice returning to a strange feminine form from the previous masculine one...
"Yes. You really aren't a monster that flung me down from the 72nd floor of a castle..." Hale roared out as he moved as far away as possible from the monster, just around 7 centimeters...
"That's not a castle, you silly, that's a skyscraper. Where do you even come from?" Captain Aliea said with mockery, but Hale didn't let his guard down at all...
"And also, I expected you to have fused with your first core or else you wouldn't be worthy of partaking in the mission in the first place. So, you're the one who has a lot to explain to me if you think about it..." Captain Aliea said as Hale looked at her with furrowed eyebrows before sighing...
"Ah. To avoid more harm, then I really should tell you something so you don't accidentally kill me..." Hale said as Captain Aliea smirked...
"Or don't tell me there's no rule for killing in this place..." Hale asked just to be sure if he was at least relatively safe.
"Of course there is, you dummy. The relationship between me and you is that of a captain to a lesser teammate, so if I kill you, which would be no doubt accidentally, and it is not on a mission, I will get my captain rank demoted. Yeah, that is the maximum punishment that would be given..." She said as Hale's heart dropped to the bottom of his chest.
That is the most stupid thing he had heard in two worlds. Back in the Winterfall Dynasty, if the highest rank, say a royal, killed a commoner, then he would be forever wiped out of his royal status with his entire bloodline, and then he would be sentenced to at least ten years in the dungeon, based on how serious the issue was.
And all this monster would get is a simple demotion, that could be gained back after years of working hard?
"Please, can you let me out of this cavern, and let me go..."
"This is not a cavern, you idiot, we're not in the I9's. This is a car... The 1 in 20 edition of the Bugano Mi Torino. And also no, I can't let you go. You are a crew member of mine, and I'm in charge of you..." Captain Aliea said, this time seriously as Hale sighed.
"Guess I'm stuck with you then, forever..."
"Stuck with one of the most powerful second core awakeners of Sector S, and one of the most beautiful and also the richest. I'll say you have quite the good luck, don't you?" Captain Aliea asked as Hale snorted...
"Lucky? Tsk"
"So back to my questions. How did you get on my crew? Who is your guild leader who recommended me to you, because I can't find your name on my list of files? And also how do you get in a guild if you haven't fused with a core yet? And without a core leader recommendation, how do you get into my spaceship?" Captain Aliea asked as Hale's brain worked at full speed, trying to think of how best to answer the question but failed terribly.
He could say he had never lied before in his life. That was something that was uncourteous for a prince. Not like he had ever needed a reason to lie throughout his entire life...
"Would you believe me if I say, I used to live in a small village close to the sea. And then due to a misfortunate event, I got drowned and then magically I found myself in your spaceship, with only my boxers on..." Hale asked, lying to the best of his ability. If that could even be called lying.
"I'm not joking..." Captain Aliea said seriously as she looked at him, only to find Hale looking blankly at her...
"That's the truth.."
"WHAT!?" Captain Aliea said, looking at those blue eyes that didn't have the hint of lying at all. If there was an ability of hers that she trusted very much, it would be her ability to sense lies by looking into their eyes. It was one of the things that had made her way to success as a military very easy.
"Yes. It sounds stupid. But it's the truth..." Hale replied as he looked out through the windows, seeing everything rapidly shuffle past him...
But a hand grabbed onto his chin as he found his eyes colliding with another pair of blue eyes.
"Are you really speaking the truth?" Captain Aliea said, this time with another level of seriousness.
"Yes. I am.." Hale also replied seriously...
"Wow! And can you tell me more about your village? Perhaps I can find a sector that seems to be where you possibly come from..."
"Hmm, well, my village doesn't have these cars, nor those metallic guns, nor those tall skyscrapers. And also it snows all the time. I have never seen such a bright sun before..." Hale mused out as he looked dazedly at the sun.
Atheria was a world perpetually enshrined in four weather conditions shared in four dynasties. The Winterfall Dynasty was just as the name suggested, winter, and that was all Hale had ever seen. The snow. He had never seen other weather conditions before since his birth...
And seeing such clear sun right now gave him a much greater euphoria, or say a feeling of much greater satisfaction.
It was ten thousand times better than reading it in those strange rusty books...
