Chapter 105 - Just Kidding

Chapter 105 - Just Kidding

"Just kidding!" Nile said with a smirk under his mask.

After getting rejected, Nile no longer cared for them already. But hearing Gretta say something like Nile changed his mind and decided to give them another chance.

Sarah and Gina wryly smiled. They got worried there for a moment. Meanwhile, Gretta's eyes were shining like a diamond after hearing Nile is going to help them.

"Uhmm... Thanks!" Gretta said with a happy tone.

"So, where to?" Nile asks the third time.

Sarah scratches her head. "Errr, where are we right now?"

They were unconscious when Jacob brought them over here. Gretta was only awakened due to the fall. Sarah asks, thinking that Nile was a resident in this village.

"At the big tree? I'm not from here so I also don't know." Nile said.

He then continued, "So you all are not from this village?"

The three nodded their heads at the same time.

Gina was leaning on the tree's exposed roots. After thinking for a while she said, "Do you perhaps know where the next village's location is?"

Nile pointed at the village direction. "There."

Gina heaves a sigh. "After reaching the village's entrance, we should be able to find our way back to the house we temporarily resided in."

"Oh... Okay! Max, come here!" Nile said as he beckoned for Maximo to come over.

Nile could tell that Maximo was reluctant after seeing him slowing down purposely. Maximo only wanted Nile to ride his back and no one else should. Unfortunately, Maximo could not disobey Nile. At least, Nile reassured Maximo that it was only a one-time thing.

Nile rubbed Maximo's neck while saying, "Lay down Max."

Maximo compelled and laid down on all fours.

"Put her over the saddle," Nile said towards the two able women.

The two women nodded and felt happy seeing that Nile did not take advantage of their sister.

Slowly, they moved Gina's body to the saddle. After that, they returned to their previous spot. Sarah was also wounded but Gina's were the most serious ones.

Maximo then stood up from the ground as Gina yelped in surprise. Fortunately, Gina was able to hold the saddle's side at the last moment or else, her injury might worsen after falling to the ground. Gina then laid her back comfortably on the Level OneĀ° saddle. This was her first time riding the back of an animal, she thought that it would be uncomfortable but the truth was not something she expected.

'It was pretty comfortable here. I should search for a ride as well after this,' she thought.

Unfortunately, she didn't know that all of her comforts were because of the saddle. If she ever rode another animal again, then her experience might not be a comfy one.

"Let's go!" Nile said with a gesture telling the women to walk first. They nodded and started to walk towards the direction that Nile had pointed earlier.

Maximo then followed behind them before the Nile also tailed Maximo.

"Croco, let's go!" Nile said seeing that Croco, on the corner, was not moving.

Croco heard Nile and instantly got up from his position. Croco just fell asleep for a moment, that's all.

Sarah and Gina were surprised after hearing Nile mentioning another name. Not long after, seeing a huge crocodile emerge from the corner startled them. They knew that there were huge crocodiles, but isn't this crocodile named Croco just way too big?

'Mutation!' Both women thought in unison. It was not their first time seeing a mutation of an animal. They were just surprised by the crocodile's size, that's all.

Meanwhile, Gretta was not as shocked as the other two. She had already experienced the fright of her life earlier, after all.

Sarah and Gretta purposely slowed to match Maximo's walking pace. When their bodies were almost in line with the carabao, Sarah turned her head to Nile and said, "Uhm, sorry for the late introduction, but my name's Sarah."

She reached her hand towards Nile for a handshake. Nile stared at her for a moment before he also extended his hand. "Nile."

"Nile? Okay."

Gretta also turned her head to Nile and extended her hands to Nile, a little anxious. "Uhmm, my name's Gretta."

Nile nodded his and received the hand, "Name's Nile."

Gretta smiled and withdrew her hand.

As Gina was still holding onto the saddle's corner, she only took a peek at Nile before saying, "Gina!"

Nile nodded his head.

"So the carabao's name was Maximo? Nice name." Sarah said as she reached her hand in Maximo's stomach.

However, before she could touch Maximo's skin, Maximo had already turned his head and stared at Sarah menacingly.

Sarah felt the terrifying stare and withdrew her hands immediately.

Maximo's mouth trembled before his head turned to the front while walking. But Sarah seems to hear a 'hmmp' in there.

She could only smile wryly seeing that. 'Wow, this carabao is scary with an attitude."

She looked back and stared at Crock for a while. "Never mind!" She said after seeing Croco's more menacing appearance.

Sarah spotted Maximo's blind eye earlier, she wanted to ask Nile about that, but after seeing him in the back, leaking out an aura of 'no talking,' she decided against it.

Gretta was not talking, but Nile knew that she would take a peek at him from time to time.

Nile just observed on the back. Of course, though he decided to help him, he also didn't give his full trust. He's ready to act if anything happens. Croco was at his side, also alert and ready if anything happens.

Meanwhile, Gina was experiencing the shock of her life. Atop the saddle, she thought that she was not riding an animal but a luxurious car. She already prepared herself for the pain that might come during the ride. Fortunately, her preparation was all for naught. Instead, she was now enjoying the luxurious ride atop the carabao.

The same thing was maintained all the way to the village's entrance.

Nile saw the welcoming arc and recalled that the previous village doesn't have something like that. Being closer to the town really made a difference.

He was also not sure if there were something like that from the previous villages, but he was pretty sure that he hadn't seen one.

"Where now?" Nile asks them for directions.

"This is where Jacob ambushed us. From here, we could just go and trace back our tracks," Gina said while still atop Maximo. Her wounds were no longer that sore and painful so she was now able to talk more clearly.

Sarah nodded her head as she pointed her hand at the right side of the village's entrance. "Yes, the house is in the other part of the village. We circled around the village to reach here. We came from that direction."

Nile felt confused. He put his hand on his chin and asked, "Circle? Why didn't you just directly use the village's road to get here?"

"Well, Jacob said that it was infested with zombies and we might be devoured if we took that road," Sarah said, shaking her head.

"Pfft, after what had happened, you still trust him? Well, considering you were still trusting those kinds of medicines after what had happened two months ago, was a surprise to me as well." Nile said in a sarcastic tone.
