Chapter 117 - Brother
Chapter 117 - Brother
The surroundings are already getting dark. The bloody sun had already rested in the west and the only thing the people relied on seeing around them was their enhanced sight.
The first wave of mutated animals had already been killed or had already passed by them. Unfortunately, before they could rest, the second wave came rushing without any warning.
The zombie animals and pets were more fierce and deadly. They were stronger than the first batch. An occasional huge mutated animal would also pop out without any warning causing them to be warier.
At the moment, Raymon was fighting an almost four-meter gorilla zombie. It's savage face and rotten chest was visible at close range for Raymon. It was disgusting but Raymon already had his fair share of gore so the gorilla zombie's appearance didn't bother him even a bit.
The only problem he has is that the zombie gorilla is only slightly weaker than him.
Raymon and the gorilla zombie had already fought for more than a few minutes. They had already injured each other multiple times during this point in time. The problem was that the zombie gorilla didn't mind it's injury a bit, as long as the head was not cut, then the gorilla wouldn't die.
Raymon was also having a huge problem as he couldn't reach the zombies head that easily. Not to mention, his scimitar was already broken in half, making it even harder for him to reach the zombies head.
Finally, the zombie Gorilla got distracted as a flying Bat suddenly brushed its face. Raymon didn't waste the opportunity, he stepped on the Gorilla's mutated arm and used it as a board to jump towards its head.
"Ahhhhh!" Raymon shouted as the broken scimitar lodged itself on the zombie Gorilla's nape.
The zombie Gorilla struggled to wipe the fly on its face but unfortunately, the Apocalypse Virus inside it had already been injured.
"Ahhhhhhh!" Raymon pulled the scimitar before stabbing it again towards the same hole he made earlier.
The scimitar got embedded even deeper and this time it finally killed the Apocalypse Virus controlling the Gorilla inside its head.
The zombie Gorilla's body staggered like a drunkard before it collapsed to the ground, dead.
"Yaaahhhh!"Raymon stood atop the zombie Gorilla's rotting chest and he couldn't help but raised his arm holding the scimitar in the air as if to announce his dominance.
Sadly, everyone was busy and no one noticed his victorious roar.
Raymon had many injuries around his body. The injuries were mostly from the brute force possessed by the zombie Gorilla's fist. His body was blue all over due to the bruises.
Raymon dropped his arm in shame. He looks around and his eyes instantly bulge from what he saw.
Desmon was fighting a Gorilla the same size he just fought with. Desmon was weaker than him, it was not a surprise that he was being beaten black and blue by the Gorilla right now.
Raymon's blood boiled as he instantly dashed towards his younger brother. He arrived in an instant and deflected the incoming punch of the Gorilla.
His arm was thrown back due to the impact as he hurriedly picked up the beaten Desmon.
"T... Thanks, brother!" Desmon uttered as he breathed in and out deeply.
Both of their clothes were tattered. Their bulky body was full of black and blue bruises as well as some minor cuts here and there.
Raymon's scimitar was broken in half, while Desmon's spiked knuckles no longer have any spikes left.
"Let's do this together!" Raymon said.
"Alright, but we should be careful. That monkey is not a zombie. Its attack pattern is not monotonous." Desmon said as he pulled a mutated tail from a dead animal on his side.
The tail had its hair as a spike, it could act like a mace.
Desmon weighs it and familiarizes himself with its length and shape.
"Good, let's go!" Raymon said as he flicked the blood coating the broken scimitar. He then dashed towards the mutated Gorilla at an impressive speed.
Desmon immediately followed behind after seeing his brother dashing towards the Gorilla.
Raymon leaped sideways and evaded the Gorilla's punch. He estimated the Gorilla to be as strong as the previous one he fought.
Raymon didn't get hasty and evaded side by side. He was no longer alone. If he could kill the zombie Gorilla earlier, why can't he now?
Desmon smashed the gorilla's arm that Raymon had just evaded. The mace's spikes clashed with the gorilla's metallic arm producing some sparks.
The mace bounced back but it definitely hurt the gorilla's arm as the gorilla also pulled its arm immediately after the hit.
As it was busy withdrawing its arm, the gorilla didn't notice that Raymon was already on its back.
Desmon knew what his brother was planning to do and he couldn't afford to spoil it. He spun the mace in his hand and after it gathered enough momentum, he released it aiming for the mutated Gorilla's head.
The Gorilla saw the attack and dodged it effortlessly. The Gorilla raised it and made a pose to punch Desmon who no longer had any weapon.
Putsik!
The Gorilla wasn't able to do what it wanted to do. As a broken scimitar was already embedded deep on its head.
Its raised arm fell to the ground with a thud. The Gorilla manages to turn its head to the back, before its body also falls to the ground, dead.
The last thing the Gorilla saw was the triumphant face of Raymon.
"Nice work!" Desmon said to Raymon who was currently atop the Gorilla's head.
"You've done great, as well!" Raymon replied as he scanned his surroundings.
He noticed that the surroundings were already getting calmer.
Only a small number of his teammates were still left fighting. The others turned and helped those who needed help. Including those who need help to be killed before transforming into a zombie.
'Is it finally over?' Raymon thought.
He felt glad after realizing it. If the battle had still continued, he doesn't know if he could still make it alive. He was already panting heavily after all. No matter how strong he is, he knows he doesn't have unlimited energy to spend. Not to mention, the enemies during the last minute were a lot stronger compared to the first one.
He also felt proud towards his teammates. Although their numbers have thinned a lot due to the casualties, he didn't mind it as he knew that those who survived were definitely the elites. His troops had also gathered enough weapons to arm themselves now. This battle was risky, but it's definitely worth it.
But counting the numbers of his remaining teammates he couldn't help but grit his teeth in anger.
Only half of their 100+ original numbers had survived.
Desmon saw his brother's furious expression and couldn't help but feel frustrated as well.
"Let's find that bastard now, brother!" Desmon eagerly said. He couldn't wait to torture that bitch right now for bringing trouble towards their base.
"Grrrr... Alright, but we should regroup and rest first!" Raymon said as he helps the others to kill their enemies.
