Book 01: Newcomer Joins the Chat Group
Is it finally here? The turning point of fate—the Dimension Administrators Association.
Should I join the Dimension Administrators Association?
An illusionary screen suddenly appeared out of nowhere, startling Chen Heng. Although he had known he would receive an invitation to join the Dimension Administrators Association soon, the way the invitation appeared still startled him.
There were two buttons below this row of words: “Yes” and “YES.”
[TL Note: One of the “Yes” options above was in Chinese, while the other was in English. I presented both in English, the difference being capitalization rather than English. However, the point is still conveyed: Chen Heng can only choose yes, and there isn’t a no option.]
Huh? What is the difference between these two choices?
The male physics teacher standing at the podium pushed up his glasses. When he saw Chen Heng, who had let out a sudden yelp, he asked with an upset expression, “Student Chen Heng, do you have any questions?”
“I don’t. Sorry, Teacher. I saw a bug earlier, and I have already crushed it.”
The physics teacher appeared skeptical. However, he did not think much of it since Chen Heng apologized. “Alright. Student Chen Heng, sit back down and pay attention to the lecture. Let’s continue the lesson. We were talking about…”
After Chen Heng sat down, he kept staring at this illusionary screen. Then, he tapped the button for “Yes” in the air. Then…nothing happened.
His classmate beside him saw him frantically tapping the air like an idiot. Although Chen Heng tried tapping both “Yes” and “YES,” nothing happened, either.
What is this broken thing? Don’t tell me it is voice-activated?
“Yes,” Chen Heng whispered.
“What yes? Little Heng, did you take the wrong medicine today?” the classmate seated at the same table asked.
“Shut up.”
Welcome, He Who Knows Fate, to this association! The standard synthesized voice completely extinguished any thought of arguing in Chen Heng.
An illusionary screen with an interface similar to the QQ chatting app appeared before him.
[TL Note: QQ is a popular Chinese chatting app operated by Tencent. It debuted even before WeChat, which is also operated by Tencent. QQ initially started on the PC and was later adapted to the mobile market. Aside from chatting, QQ has many other functions like games, music, shopping, and blogging. In China, it is common for people to exchange QQ account numbers when they meet, although WeChat is more popular now. Here is the Wikipedia entry on QQ: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tencent_QQ.]
Magus of Flowers: There’s a newbie? This is great. Looking at the name, it should be a male. Crossdress and post a photo of yourself!
17-Year-Old Youkai Sage: Crossdress and post a photo of yourself!
Queen of Ice and Snow: Crossdress and post a photo of yourself!
He Who Knows Fate: …I may have joined the wrong chat group. Is it too late to leave the chat group?
Magus of Flowers: It’s too late.
17-Year-Old Youkai Sage: It’s too late.
Queen of Ice and Snow: It’s too late.
I Have a Strong Presence: The newcomer can check out the group announcements. The group announcement lists the purpose in establishing the Dimension Administrators Association. As a side note, the chat group also provides a way to type telepathically.
He Who Knows Fate: The group announcements? Let me look for it…
He Who Knows Fate: Found it. I’ll take a look now.
For some reason, the interface of the Dimension Administrators Association chat group was very similar to the QQ chatting group, so the group announcements were very easy to find.
Time-Space Management Bureau: Two transcendents from the Purple Firmament Palace recently had a massive battle in the dimensional sea, resulting in intense tremors. The perpetrators have already been captured, and emergency repair work has started. However, it still caused irreparable damage to many worlds. The Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference decided to initiate world mergers, letting an undamaged or mildly damaged world connect to a severely damaged world to minimize losses.
Time-Space Management Bureau: However, the world mergers will result in temporary time-space fluctuations, weakening the world barriers. There will be a minute chance of transmigrators and re:lifers appearing, as well as some other issues resulting from incomplete mergers. The Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference established the Dimension Administrators Association to manage these matters and enforce the rules.
The Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference sounded majestic.
Furthermore, the name “Purple Firmament Palace” sounded somewhat familiar.
Magus of Flowers: How boring. Did you all encounter anything upsetting? Tell us so we can laugh at it.
Queen of Ice and Snow: None. Scram!
Magus of Flowers: Newcomer! Newcomer, are you here?
Blank Never Loses: @Magus of Flowers, if you are bored, you can complete missions. There are so many missions on the mission list. However, speaking of which, when can we complete these missions? There are so many of them. Is the current world that chaotic?
Magus of Flowers: You are not qualified to criticize me. Your mission completion count is still zero!
Blank Never Loses: What kind of crazy words are you saying? I, Sora, will never leave this house.
He Who Knows Fate: Newbie question: Are there any methods to grow stronger quickly in the Dimension Administrators Association?
Magus of Flowers: You asked the right person. There is a mission hall in the chat group. You can complete missions there and obtain points, which you can spend in the shop. There is everything in the shop; it’s just that they are a little expensive. However, they are of excellent quality.
I Have a Strong Presence: Newcomer, check in first. The first check-in gives you ten times the reward, which is 100 points.
Ding! He Who Knows Fate received 100 points by checking in.
Umaru-chan: What kind of world does the newcomer live in? Regular or non-regular?
He Who Knows Fate: Does that mean whether there are special abilities?
Umaru-chan: Yes.
He Who Knows Fate: Non-regular, then. I have a special ability.
Umaru-chan: Then, you can take a look in the shop. I recall that you can buy a second awakening for abilities for 100 points. However, non-ability users need to spend 400 points to unlock their potential. It would take checking in every day for one month to obtain enough. This is simply discrimination.
He Who Knows Fate: Thank you.
Shop…shop… There it is! Chen Heng opened a drop-down menu at the top right-hand corner of the chat group interface. It brought him to another interface. There were many choices there. Chen Heng saw the mission hall Magus of Flowers had mentioned, but he did not open it for now. Instead, he chose the shop, which was below the mission hall.
Chen Heng felt very interested in this shop. After all, this was the Dimension Administrators Association’s shop. There should be some good stuff there.
Chen Heng found that there really were many things there.
The shop had two sections: the Dimension Administrators Association’s shop and the member exchange shop.
Chen Heng entered the Dimension Administrators Association’s shop first. After all, this was established by the Multidimensional World Consciousness Conference. There would definitely be plenty of good stuff.
The first thing Chen Heng noticed was:
Ability Second Awakening: 100 Points (Raise the ability’s limits and increase its rank. There’s a slight chance of mutation and creating a new ability.) (Note: Do be aware of your surroundings, as there may be a rather large commotion. Do your best to undergo it when there is no one around.)
This is great stuff! Chen Heng felt that his ability had already reached its limits. Its increase had slowed to a snail’s pace. He had to get this item. However, there was no rush. He was still in class and would only deal with it after returning home.
The Dimension Administrators Association’s shop had many things. However, strangely, the goods were things related to abilities. They ranged from a simple fireball spell to time control. There was nothing else, nothing material. The stronger the ability, the more ridiculously expensive the item was. For example, the aforementioned time control required 1,000,000 points—for the first rank. Who knew how many ranks such an ability had? Furthermore, how expensive would the later ranks be?
The more Chen Heng looked, the more frustrated he felt. A poor person like me had better stop looking. I should check out the mission hall to see if there are any suitable missions.
In the member exchange shop, there were fantastic oddities of every description.
Primeval Rune (Origin: Queen of Ice and Snow): 5,000 Points. (Runes are a type of magical writing. You can gain boundless power by carving them on wood, stone, metal, or other materials. Furthermore, Primeval Runes are the original and most primitive form of runes. Odin created them after he used his right eye to pay for a taste of the spring of wisdom.)
Flower Magic (Origin: Magus of Flowers): 100 Points. (Can manifest flowers at any time. No special uses. Only ordinary flowers.)
Illusion Arts (Origin: Magus of Flowers): 3,000 Points. (Magecraft that deceives others. Refers to mental interference and false images projected into the real world. It can create nightmares not only in the mind but also in the real world. It can easily create false images powerful enough to affect an entire village.)
Spell Card Set (Origin: 17-Year-Old Youkai Sage): 500 Points. (Barrier [Curse of Dreams and Reality], Barrier [Balance of Motion and Stillness], Sinister Spirits [Double Black Death Butterfly], Outer Force [Infinite Superspeed Flying Object], Border Sign [Quadruple Barrier], Border Sign [Boundary of Wave and Particle], Abandoned Line [Aimless Journey to the Abandoned Station], Fantasy Nest [Flying Noctilucae’s Nest], Aerial Bait [Hyperactive High Speed Flying Object]…)
Stone (Origin: Magus of Flowers): 1 Point. (A casually-picked-up stone. However, it is a stone from Avalon. Perhaps it can be treated as a sacred object?)
There are indeed all sorts of things. I can at least exchange for some things. There were many things in the member exchange shop. Chen Heng saw sabers, swords, guns, rocket launchers, cola, chips, tanks, and many others, with some strange things mixed in. It turned out that chips and cola could be sold there too. However, it made sense after thinking about it. If a stone could be sold, why not chips? However, would someone buy these things?
He Who Knows Fate: The shop is incredible. It even sells a stone.
17-Year-Old Youkai Sage: @Magus of Flowers, he is referring to you. You’d better remove that nonsense quickly. Are you planning to leave it there over the new year? What is the point of a stone?
Magus of Flowers: You can’t say that. Didn’t you see the Dimension Administrators Association’s note? It said it could be a sacred object.
Queen of Ice and Snow: Please add a “perhaps.” Thank you. I feel that you are trying to trick fools!
Magus of Flowers: You are slandering me! A blatant slander! I just thought, what if someone in the group participates in a Holy Grail War? It might be able to help that person.
[TL Note: Here is a Fandom Wiki on Fate/Grand Order’s Holy Grail War: /wiki/Holy_Grail_War.]
Efreet: Haha!
Magus of Flowers: You’ve got to believe me.
He Who Knows Fate: We are going off-topic, right?
He Who Knows Fate: I’ll go to the mission hall and see if there are any suitable missions.
Umaru-chan: Have you undergone the ability second awakening yet?
He Who Knows Fate: No, I’m currently in class. There is no time for it. The note said there might be a rather large commotion.
Iron Fist Teacher: A student! How great!”
He Who Knows Fate: Erm…is the one above a teacher?
Umaru-chan: Indeed. She is a teacher. A teacher who cannot get married despite being 30.
Iron Fist Teacher: …? How did you know?
Magus of Flowers: You complain in the group daily about failed matchmaking sessions, alright?
Queen of Ice and Snow: Perhaps you are the only one in the group who thinks it’s a secret.
Queen of Ice and Snow: Also, @He Who Knows Fate, you’d best not expect too much of the ability second awakening.
He Who Knows Fate: Why?
Queen of Ice and Snow: The ability second awakening can increase the potential of your ability. However, its strengthening of your ability is limited. That requires time. Relying on the ability second awakening to grow strong fast won’t work.
Please note that Future Sight has been changed to Precognition, the change took place shortly after the release of Chapter 3.
