“It feels good. Although I slept late last night, I did not feel sleepy when I woke up this morning. Furthermore, my body felt significantly relaxed.” Sirin was satisfied with cultivating. She already showed a noticeable change after cultivating for only one day.
“There’s no need to be shocked. I gave you an immortal cultivation technique. An immortal cultivation technique is meant for one to continuously surpass oneself and eventually become immortal. The more you cultivate, the stronger you become. When you truly become an immortal, you can live forever without aging.”
“Live forever without aging? It’s that amazing? Can I fly after becoming an immortal?” Sirin still thought about flying.
“You don’t have to become an immortal to fly. You can achieve temporal flight after reaching the Foundation Building Realm; rather, you can fly at low altitudes by controlling a sword. When you reach the Golden Core Realm, you can attain true flight. Work hard at cultivating. My little Sirin is a genius. You will probably progress very quickly.”
“Uh-huh!” Anticipation for cultivating filled Sirin.

After the second period, Chen Heng headed for the office of his homeroom teacher.
“Teacher, I would like to apply for leave to self-study for the college entrance exams at home.”
“I see…that’s fine as long as you have thought it through. The school has nothing much to teach you in the last ten or so days, anyway. It is just doing practice questions. You probably have your own plan. When do you intend to start?” Chen Heng’s homeroom teacher handled English and greatly respected a student’s freedom.
“The sooner, the better.” Of course, Chen Heng had his own plans. He intended to use this time to bring Sirin around. After all, those tourist destinations would become extremely crowded after the college entrance exams. How could he not take advantage of this time?
Also, only a deranged person like Chen Heng would do something like this before the college entrance exams. Which other high schooler did not wish for more review time?
“Then you can go home this afternoon. However, it is better to stay the whole day. Actually, several students also came to apply for leave today. I approved it for some students but not for others, so I hope you will start tomorrow to avoid distracting the classmates who are still in school.”
Chen Heng’s English teacher worried greatly over her students. This was one reason the students liked her a lot.
Of course, the most important reason was that the teacher was beautiful. High school boys are a bunch of lechers.
Mo Qingtong jabbed Chen Heng with the sharp tip of her pen when he returned to the classroom and took his seat. “Hey, hey. Did the teacher approve your leave application?”
“She agreed. I say, can you not jab me with the tip?”
“No. Way! We agreed to go through thick and thin together, yet you applied for leave alone.”
“Isn’t it for Sirin? I can’t let her remain at home alone. She is still a child and needs care and concern.
“You only have Sirin in your heart. Why don’t you think of me?” Mo Qingtong made a pitiful face.
“You? What’s wrong with you?”
“Haven’t you considered how bored I will be if you leave me in school alone?”
“…” Then remain bored alone.
Chen Heng initially thought Mo Qingtong would say something moving. In the end, it was just some uncouth reply, simply a waste of his sympathy for her.
“Don’t look at me with that disappointed look. What did you think I would say? Without you, I cannot continue studying…rather… Ah! I cannot do without you?”
“…”
“Oh? Getting angry? You are pretty easy to tease.” Mo Qingtong ramped up her teasing when she saw Chen Heng’s cold look.
“Woman, you are playing with fire.”
“Oh! Changing to a domineering president? Then…should I help you sate some of your heat?” Mo Qingtong started getting lost in her acting, taking on what she considered an alluring posture. She even gently pushed up Chen Heng’s chin.
[TL Note: The domineering president is a classic trope in Chinese romance novels and drama. This trope involves an arrogant, possessive, controlling president (obviously) pursuing their romantic interest somewhat high-handedly. In fact, Chen Heng’s thought “Woman, you have piqued my interest,” in Book 1 Chapter 6, is a common phrase in such stories. Here is a link to an overview of some domineering presidents in Chinese drama: /watch?v=ujeiXpbdvfk.]
“…”
“…”
Mo Qingtong’s posture did look alluring, suddenly tempting Chen Heng. However…
“Barf…”
“Barf…”
Facts proved that such provocation did not suit Chen Heng and Mo Qingtong’s relationship.
Not just Chen Heng felt unused to this; even Mo Qingtong could not bear it.
The victor: Both went down together.
Speaking of which, if there were a domineering president between Chen Heng and Mo Qingtong, it would be Mo Qingtong.
Right. Domineering President Mo Qingtong. That sounded pretty good.
What would Chen Heng feel if he heard that?
“I’ll accompany you for one last day. I’ll prepare for the exam from home, starting tomorrow, or bring Sirin out to play, so cherish this last time together.”
“Erm…I want to go out too. I also want to prepare for the exams from home. Ah! School is boring!” Mo Qingtong slammed her face on the table, appearing hopeless.
“Speaking of which, as long as you memorize those question styles I predicted, the college entrance exams won’t be difficult. However, Uncle and Aunty won’t agree to you preparing from home.” Now, Chen Heng cast the final stone.
“That’s right. You said you would accompany me to have fun after the college entrance exam. You have not forgotten, right?”
“Huh? There’s such a thing? Let me think. Oh! There does seem to be something like that.”
“Chen! Heng!” Mo Qingtong got angry. I’ve been looking forward to it, and he suggested it in the first place! Yet, this fellow forgot about it in just a few days!
“I’m just joking. How could I forget? I said that on Saturday. I didn’t forget.”
“Good, you still remember saying that on Saturday. Pretty good, pretty good. You probably did not forget. Remember, do not go back on your word.”
“Don’t worry. Why would I go back on my word?”
“Then I shall forgive you for abandoning me to review from home.”
“Then should I thank Miss Mo for your mercy and favor?”
“Never mind that.”
…
In the end, Chen Heng even treated Mo Qingtong to a hotpot meal as compensation. Furthermore, the arduous mission of explaining the situation to her mother fell to him.
“Alright, alright. I got it, Aunty Liu. I won’t let her eat sausages or mutton. Don’t worry. Alright. Bye-bye.”
Hence, Chen Heng watched with a resentful expression throughout lunchtime as Mo Qingtong ate.
As revenge on Mo Qingtong, Chen Heng called Raven to ask her to purchase ingredients for Fragrant Red Plum Pearls, Kung Pao Rabbit, stir-fried frogs, Eight Treasure Wild Duck, and Longjing Bamboo Shoots. Four dishes and one soup, perfect.
[TL Note: There are no known English translations for some of these dishes, so I simply translated the Chinese names, which are supposed to sound poetic rather than descriptive. Fragrant Red Plum Pearls is made with quail eggs and prawns and is part of the Manchu–Han Imperial Feast. Eight Treasure Wild Duck is a dish from Shanghai. Longjing Bamboo Shoots is a soup made with Longjing tea and bamboo shoots and is also part of the Manchu–Han Imperial Feast.]
Mo Qingtong’s mouth watered as she listened at the side.
