Book 5: Chapter 26:2: Club and Brick, Part 2
Sirin sat hovering in the air in a slightly elevated position. Taking Chen Heng’s height as a reference, it looked like she sat on his head. Chen Heng pulled her down a little.
“Sirin, mind your image. Also, don’t raise your crossed legs.” After pulling the hovering Sirin down to a lower height, Chen Heng forcefully corrected the position of her crossed legs.
“Elder Brother, can you not embarrass me in front of others?” Sirin appeared upset, but she still listened to Chen Heng.
Welt and Siegfried stared at the two before them in shock. How could a Honkai envoy and a human with no Honkai Energy adaptability at all get along?
Furthermore, this Herrscher seemed to obey the man.
“You are the only survivor of Babylon Labs, Researcher Chen Heng, right? Looks like you colluded with the Herrscher, killing all the researchers besides yourself, right?” Siegfried knew about Chen Heng. As a competent warrior, he would gather intelligence about the opponent before entering the battlefield.
Furthermore, with his status, Siegfried could access information about Chen Heng, the researcher from Schicksal’s headquarters.
“Hey, hey, hey! Be reasonable, alright. What do you mean, ‘colluded’? You make that sound very offensive. Don’t tell me you are unaware of what the researchers in Babylon Labs did and the atrocious things they were involved in? They used young, orphaned girls as subjects for human experimentation. To think you can even think of such ideas?”
“…” Siegfried was speechless.
As a mature adult, Siegfried knew much more than Theresa. Theresa was too sheltered by her grandfather. On the other hand, Siegfried knew Schicksal hid some dirty and dark secrets; however, he genuinely didn’t know about Babylon Labs’s human experimentation on young orphans—at the very least, not before coming here.
“Chen Heng, right? It looks like the Herrscher of the Void obeys you. Then, as a human, are you interested in resisting the Honkai with us? Let me introduce myself. I am Welt, the 1st Herrscher. We—Anti-Entropy—are different from Schicksal; we never experiment on humans. Instead, we focus on science to develop mechs to resist the Honkai.”
Actually, Welt was delighted to see Siegfried and Chen Heng arguing. Although both Schicksal and Anti-Entropy were organizations that fought the Honkai, Anti-Entropy looked down on Schicksal; rather, the two organizations’ people looked down on each other.
Anti-Entropy’s people find Schicksal extremely inhumane, treating Valkyries as disposable goods for fighting the Honkai. After one became a Valkyrie, one would not live for long—even if one did not die on the battlefield—because of the corrosion from the Stigmata and Honkai Energy. Previously, that could not be helped, as it was the only way. Now, science had advanced significantly, reaching much greater heights. So, why couldn’t they think of other methods?
Schicksal’s people felt Anti-Entropy was foolish. A mech was extremely expensive and easy to destroy. They were not as convenient as Valkyries, who had high combat prowess and could be used multiple times.
“It is impossible for me to oppose the Honkai. My Sirin is a Herrscher. As its henchman, her future may seem uncertain. However, don’t worry; we won’t slaughter humans or destroy cities. Right now, Sirin and I just want to create some work for Schicksal and beat up Otto’s dog head.”
It was impossible for Chen Heng to help the Honkai or help destroy the Honkai, as the contract he had signed with Fu Hua forbade him from doing so. However, causing some destruction at Schicksal was within the permissible range. Furthermore, wasn’t there a Soulium clone of Otto nearby?
Chen Heng could not kill Otto. Although Otto was a scoundrel who never did anything good, his tremendous impact on the fight against the Honkai was undeniable, even if Otto never thought about resisting the Honkai; fighting the Honkai was just a byproduct of his quest to revive Kallen.
In reality, Chen Heng had a better impression of Anti-Entropy than Schicksal.
“Then there’s no negotiating.” Although Welt looked down on Schicksal—rather, the two organizations were half-enemies—they both worked to resist the Honkai.
Since the 2nd Herrscher wanted to fight Schicksal, that was no different from fighting humanity. Although Welt did not want to acknowledge it, Schicksal’s faction was much larger than Anti-Entropy, comprising 80 percent of humanity’s resistance to the Honkai.
“Sirin. Go. Beat them up!” Since negotiations had failed, Chen Heng immediately hid behind Sirin and unleashed her.
“…I can beat them up? Furthermore, Elder Brother, can you not be so cowardly? I’ll protect you.”
“Of course, you can beat them, especially that Welt. No matter how badly you beat him up, he won’t die. Furthermore, you said you would protect me. I’m sorry, I’m not that confident in you.”
“Elder Brother, how can you have such a terrible attitude when asking for my protection?” Sirin pouted at Chen Heng with dissatisfaction.
“By the way, Siegfried, if you have any conscience, you’d better rush your shorty to treatment. She suffered from internal injuries. If you don’t treat her within half an hour, she will be in big trouble. While she does not show any signs of internal injuries now, she is unconscious, right?”
Chen Heng worried for Siegfried. Sirin would not hold back in her attacks. While Welt would be fine because of his defensive abilities and could even come back to life after dying, it would not be good if Siegfried got hurt, and something happened to him.
Simply put, Siegfried was too weak, and Chen Heng feared harm befalling him.
“Siegfried, quickly bring Theresa back to Babylon Labs for treatment. Although I cannot verify whether he is telling the truth, I cannot verify it is a lie, either. Theresa’s injuries are indeed bizarre; there are no signs of external injuries.”
Don’t mistake Club’s attack for a physical attack—that would be a huge mistake. Brick caused physical damage, but Club was a mental attack.
Club’s attack could shake one’s soul and shock it, inducing unconsciousness. Furthermore, there would be no signs of external injuries.
“Wait. I can’t leave you here alone.” Although Siegfried worried about Theresa, he could not accept abandoning this temporary ally to the Herrscher.
“Of course, you could remain here to deal with my Sirin together. That will work if you can defeat Sirin and rush back to Babylon Labs within half an hour. Otherwise, you can only say goodbye forever to your shorty.”
Before Welt could say anything, Chen Heng dealt Siegfried another blow, which was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
“Damn it! Welt, I owe you another favor.” Out of concern for the shorty, Siegfried could only leave with Theresa first.
“Sirin, use the 1st Herrscher as your grinding stone and train.”
“Got it, got it. Elder Brother, didn’t you say not to kill good people?” Sirin complained as she brought out countless black holes that fired Subspace Lances at Welt.
Sirin even laid imaginary barriers in the surroundings to protect herself and Chen Heng before flying into the air with him.
