Chapter 130
Chapter 130
“Can you give us a second?”
Spyro asked Liberty in a strangely squeaky voice. Liberty nodded, but she seemed confused about what the little dragon actually wanted.
Meanwhile, Spyro, who could now talk, forced Hiro to walk to the corner of the room to discuss something important.
Spyro explained to him the reason why it could now talk and why it was flying so unusually. The dragon was currently under the control of Alice, who somehow managed to control Spyro like a game avatar.
Hiro was still dumbfounded as he listened to Alice explain with the voice of a very young little boy. The baby dragon suddenly looked talkative.
“So this is what you meant by easier to show than to explain?” Hiro whispered right to one of the dragon ears standing upright like mini bat wings.
The baby dragon’s head nodded. Hiro was also told not to let anyone know that his pet dragon was occupied by a controller. If anyone were to find out, they would definitely report it as a bug or a cheat, which would be dangerous for him.
Even so, it was fortunate that LSO had a special item sold by Ninecent in the Marketplace. An item with the function to plant an AI system into a pet, which would allow it to think and talk with the intelligence of a human being. It was just that the item’s price was extremely expensive, more expensive than a regular plot.
30,000 LSC. Moreover, it only applied for three months and required an upgrade every time, one of the item types that Hiro could never afford.
As it wasn’t something impossible in LSO, Alice told Hiro to tell those who might see the dragon talk that he used the item.
“Fine. But why are you doing this? Why don’t you just make an avatar and play with me that way?” Hiro wanted to know what Alice was planning.
“It’s easier to mess the system by diving in with a form that doesn’t attract attention,” she explained a little haughtily.
However, Hiro found it a little difficult to take her words seriously when she was talking in that childish voice.
“Just don’t make my pet die.” He was more worried about that.
“Die? Did you just underestimate me, young man?”
Hiro only shook his head and dismissively walked back to Liberty, who was still in the room waiting for him.
“Hey. Sorry, Spyro was hungry. I had to feed him,” Hiro explained, making up a reason.
Liberty smiled at him.
The girl seemed a little awkward again. She couldn’t look into Hiro’s eyes for long.
Fortunately, the main door to the building suddenly blasted open a little harshly, revealing Jacob with a face full of questions.
“What happened here?” He looked disappointed having missed something that seemed fun.
However, before Hiro could explain what he missed, an incoming call startled him.
[LostSoul is trying to contact you]
“Hello?”
“Aaargh!”
Hiro stiffened in place when he heard the despair-filled scream from the other side. Even so, the voice didn’t belong to Dominic as Hiro could hear him out of breath.
“What happened?
“NightFall, we’re under attack.”
The short answer from the leader of Immortal Knights didn’t help. Instead, it only made Hiro anxious.
“Share your location.”
Ding!
[New location coordinates have been pinned on the map]
Hiro checked the location pin. The marked location was outside the city area.
‘An attack outside a safe zone?’
Hiro looked at Liberty and Jacob consecutively. In just a second, he had to decide his next step.
Inviting Liberty without knowing what or who was attacking Immortal Knights was something Hiro would never choose as it would put both sides in danger. He would never make a move that would put Liberty at risk.
But the same didn’t apply to Jacob. Hiro was sure that he had already become a lot more courageous and stronger than before.
“I have to go, Libe. You can wait here or go home, I’ll come for you later,” Hiro hurriedly spoke.
Liberty looked at him with a serious gaze and nodded, showing that she understood.
The change made Hiro once again admire the girl. She was no longer the Liberty who kept insisting on coming with him like a duckling.
“Thank you,” he genuinely said. “Jacob, come with me.”
Hiro had no intention of accepting his refusal and Jacob, who just got home, didn’t seem to mind.
The two then quickly left the house, running at full speed toward the destination located in the area of Moonspire City. His status as a student in the game allowed Hiro to receive a transportation discount, and in an urgent situation like this, he had to make a sacrifice.
“What’s going on?” Jacob had only been running and was busy following Hiro without knowing what was happening and where they were going.
“Saving a friend.” Hiro didn’t reduce his speed at all.
They were already running into the forest area with leafless trees covered in snow.
Hiro was shivering. His legs felt numb from running without rest, but he didn’t want to be late.
On his shoulder, Spyro was gripping Hiro’s cloak so tightly that its sharp claws scratched his skin and stung him several times. Hiro ignored it.
He couldn’t help but wonder, who were those assailants? They were able to corner Immortal Knights so much that their leader had to call him for help.
Who was the madman?
From afar, Hiro could hear noises in the direction marked on the map.
Jacob looked at him with his brows furrowed. He also heard it.
“We have to hurry.”
Tap! Tap! Tap!
A distance in front of them was a cave no taller than two meters. Most of its entrance was covered by a thick layer of snow, and five members of Immortal Knights’s main party were sprawled on the ground in front of it. Aside from their chests going up and down signifying that they were still alive, the five weren’t moving.
In front of them were over 15 people in black robes, and Hiro and Jacob instantly recognized their identity.
Seeing that the assailants were the group of people he had been avoiding, Jacob took a step back.
However, Hiro stopped him.
“Do you have a teleportation item?”
Jacob looked at him somewhat questioningly, but he still nodded. It was true that he had the item Hiro was asking about.
“Good. Use it to run if something bad happens.”
“What about you?”
Jacob felt that he couldn’t leave Hiro to die. The teleportation item he had wasn’t like a Portkey Crystal that could teleport anyone.
Hiro returned Jacob’s anxious look with a smile.
“I won’t let them kill me that easily.”
