Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 342 Joint Military Exercise (1)

Chapter 342 Joint Military Exercise (1)

Kyran smiled bitterly, realizing what the Crown Princess was trying to do.

This time, he admitted she had pulled a fast one on him.

During the Crown Princess's surprise visit to the Tower of Conclave, she had brazenly poached for 'Tyr' in front of the Head Master of the Conclave. Her action revealed a little of what the Royal Family's intentions were.

In any case, because Kyran refused to give a definite answer to the Crown Princess's offer, they had come to an agreement that she would assess his work after getting the statements of those people who would receive his work.

However, it had only been the start of the week and yet Kyran's work had already taken most factions in the east part of the empire by storm. If this continues, then his worth would really be something the Royal Family could not afford.

Now, Kyran had more or less understood why the Royal Family made the Lumley Family move.

If he was correct then the Crown Princess asked the Lumley to overwhelm the Blacksmith Order their enemy. After that, the three mages from the Special Ops would appear to offer their assistance but in turn, Kyran would have to compromise by offering his services to the Royal Family.

What they did not expect was Kyran to easily turn the tides against the Lumley Family, and even forced Tobias to make a move.

While Tobias's appearance seemed to turn the tides in favor of the Lumley Family again, Hall Master Celine suddenly appeared.

The Special Ops failed to stop Celine from interfering. To be precise, they could not stop her without revealing themselves.

In any case, now that the Crown Princess's plan backfired, she immediately thought of another plan. And that was to have the Special Ops declare in front of many people that the Ylfaen Empire's Crown Princess actually asked a personal request to 'Disciple Tyr,' to which the latter had not responded yet.

Once the whole empire heard of it, 'Disciple Tyr' would now be forced to accept any request the Crown Princess asked of him. If he chose to ignore or even act arrogantly, he would then face the scrutiny of the whole empire.

'You want to use peer pressure to make me accept, huh,' Kyran thought, in amusement.

Though he would never be affected by peer pressure, he admitted this approach was somewhat effective if he had to consider his current situation. At the end of the week, Kyran planned to start living as 'Nar.' But with 'Tyr's' predicament, he would definitely not be able to slowly hide in the background and start a new life as 'Nar.'

To be honest, Kyran had not expected the Crown Princess to put a lot of effort into getting him to work for the Royal Family. After all, he was only acting uninterested, he already planned to accept whatever terms the Crown Princess would offer once they meet again after a month.

"To show the Crown Princess's sincerity, she offers to sort the issue the Blacksmith Order has with the Lumley Family," the woman continued.

Tobias's scowled at once after hearing this. He looked at the woman and was about to say something when he froze in place.

None of the people around had noticed this, except for Kyran.

His magic sense had been active all this time after all. He could sense subtle changes in each of the people within his magic sense's area of effect.

Tobias's expression turned sour, but in the end, he only closed his eyes and lowered his head.

Kyran more or less guessed that someone had just telepathically spoken to Tobias. And seeing how dissatisfied the latter looked, it appeared he did not agree, yet he could not go against that person.

Most likely, that person was the Patriarch of the Lumley Family, or... someone from the Royal Family.

Kyran even had an inkling it was the Crown Princess.

But if that was the case, then did it mean, the Crown Princess was already at a mage level where she could telepathically speak to others? Or was she using a magic item to do this?

Kyran rejected the latter immediately. After all, he had not sensed any energy fluctuation coming from a magic item around Tobias. So his former idea was more plausible.

It might not even be the Crown Princess, but someone powerful under the Crown Princess that an Exalted mage like Tobias was too afraid to defy.

Nevertheless, Kyran had to be careful in dealing with the current situation. If not, he would be stuck disguising as Tyr which he could not afford to do.

Meanwhile, all of the people around who heard the woman said this murmured to themselves in excitement.

Today was the first time they had ever heard anything about the Crown Princess.

The Ylfaen Empire's Crown Princess had been lowkey because of the incident where a Spirit had tried to murder her when she was little.

Suddenly hearing that the Crown Princess personally requested 'something' from Disciple Tyr came as a big shock as well as entertainment to them.

There had been rumors that the Crown Princess's beauty was top-notch. Not to mention, she was a very intelligent young woman. A real worthy successor to the Ylfaen Empire's Emperor.

With Disciple Tyr's rising popularity and good looks, these people had started to put them together. To them, Tyr's commoner status did not matter. As a matter of fact, stories about two people of different standings finding each other were something a lot of people loved to see.

Good thing Kyran did not have the ability to read minds. If he did and he knew what almost every person there was thinking, he would have already used the Dark Arts he had used to change Tritus's character.

The last thing Kyran wanted was to get involved in a scandal with someone, especially the empire's Crown Princess. Though the scandal would involve 'Tyr' and not really Kyran, he still considered the former one of his pseudo.

Sighing inwardly, Kyran could not help but wonder why the Conclave had to make Tyr look such a handsome person. The attention he received alone while under Tyr's disguise was actually suffocating.

"While I appreciate the Princess's sincerity, the Blacksmith Order can deal with the Lumley Family's matter ourselves," Kyran replied after a few seconds of silence.

The woman's expression flickered slightly. She did not expect Kyran to unhesitatingly reject Princess Haylee's offer.

Tobias also looked at Kyran skeptically. He could not read what the younger man was thinking.

Did 'Tyr' really think the Blacksmith Order had the means to go against the Lumley Family? The Lumley Family had a Magus, while the Blacksmith Order only had two Grand Masters. They did not even have an Exalted. How would they deal with the Lumley Family exactly?

"That's—."

"But if I have to impose on the Princess's sincerity, can she provide some help in healing my injured fellow members instead?" Kyran continued, cutting the woman from saying anything.

The woman raised her brows in surprise. Kyran's response was another surprise to her.

The man with a huge greatsword stepped forward and leaned on the woman's ears, whispering something to her.

To Kyran's surprise, he was unable to hear what the man had said even though he was within the influence of his magic sense.

On the other hand, Celine's eyes narrowed. Since she still had her own magic influence and given the nature of her magic, she caught a few words the man had told the woman.

The man had just told the woman to agree in helping Kyran and still insist on letting the Crown Princess mediate with the Lumley Family.

This raised a few doubts in Celine. One of which was, to her it appeared as if the Royal Family wanted to protect the Lumley Family.

That should not be the case.

After all, Celine was aware of the complicated relationship among the different factions within the Ylfaen Empire.

Most of all, the Royal Family never showed any favor to the other factions. It was for this reason that the Royal Family's influence had dwindled.

'Could this mean that the Royal Family was now doing their best to curry favor with the Three Noble Families?' Celine wondered.

With a pleasant smile, the woman looked at Kyran again and nodded, "That will not be a problem. However, we still insist on mediating the matter between the Blacksmith Order and the Lumley Family. The Crown Princess wishes to resolve the matter peacefully."

After hearing this, the members of the Blacksmith Order could not help but look at Kyran uneasily.

To be honest, they wished to have a peaceful resolution to the matter with the Lumley Family. Although they clearly were the ones who had been wronged, if the matter escalated, they all knew the Blacksmith Order did not have the power to fight the Lumley Family.

In the end, the Conclave would definitely be involved and a bigger problem would arise.

They were all afraid that an all-out war would happen between the two.

However, Kyran had been protecting them all this time and they also knew how much he cared about the members of the Order. They had witnessed it when he dealt with Matias and his men earlier.

Right now, Kyran's opinion mattered the most than theirs.

Celine also looked at Kyran. She might have come here after receiving Chairman Noir and President Sigma's plea for assistance, but at the end of the day, this concerned the whole Blacksmith Order and would eventually affect the whole Conclave depending on Kyran's decision.

Kyran obviously knew this and also knew how nervous the members of the order were.

Finally, after a few minutes of intense silence, he sighed and replied, "Alright."
