Shu Pan looked at the little girl with a face full of scorn and had already concluded in her heart that this was a spoiled, willful little girl.

Anger gradually welled up in Shu Pan's clear eyes, as her family had always been strict about upbringing, especially the education of children, how could she tolerate such a little girl being so presumptuous, it was utterly rude.

She took a deep breath, trying hard to restrain the impulses in her heart.

She clenched her fists, managing to squeeze out a semblance of a smile, constantly reminding herself that she was at the company and this impolite child could very likely be the daughter of some senior executive.

It was her first day at work, and she couldn't afford to be fired on the first day, but seeing how a child so young, just a few years old, could be so impertinent and lacking in home training pained her, a mother herself.

Without the right values instilled from an early age, what would become of the child later on?

From the little girl's speech and expressions, it wasn't hard to tell that her IQ was quite high; she was a smart child, who, it seemed, might be spoiled by poor upbringing.

For the sake of her own livelihood, she had to remain calm.

"Young ladies should not speak like this; it's ugly, like a witch's," said Shu Pan, her smile stiff. She thought every little girl dreamed of being Snow White, and her words would frighten any beauty-loving child.

But she didn't know Lu Xinxin was an anomaly, who had always held such things in disdain.

The girl snorted coldly, clearly not taking Shu Pan seriously, as if deliberately provoking her. She laughed, but to Shu Pan, it was no angelic smile but one of mischief as she tore pages from a finely-bound book one by one, then looked up at Shu Pan with her beautiful eyes, curious about the expression Shu Pan would make.

At that moment, Shu Pan completely forgot it was her first day at work and that everyone was gradually arriving. Since they were in a hurry, everyone hurried along, and none paid attention to what was happening between her and the little girl in the break area.

The sound of tearing paper assaulted Shu Pan's ears as pages were ripped into pieces, scattering across the soft carpet.

A certain voice in Shu Pan's mind suddenly collapsed; she couldn't control herself, snatched the book from the girl's hands, and said sternly, "You've gone too far, not only rude but also behaving terribly. Don't you understand the value of books? Do you know? Many children in impoverished areas, they have nothing to eat, let alone the chance to see books, they are thirsty for knowledge, yet you don't appreciate it?"

Lu Xinxin had never been scolded like this because of her father's status. People in the company always tried to please her, and no one dared to discipline her.

But the woman before her now fearlessly chastised her severely, and from her contorted face, one could imagine how angry she was.

Lu Xinxin suddenly became a little scared. Could this woman hit her? Although she seemed very gentle, appearances could be deceiving.

At that moment, Lu Xinxin somewhat prayed for her father to come quickly; this woman's scolding felt terrifying.

"Are you an employee here? You're going to be late, aren't you? I'm going to have my dad fire you," Lu Xinxin said angrily.

"Ah... right, work." She almost forgot such an important thing. "Where are your parents?"

Even if it meant being late, she couldn't dare leave such a child behind.

"It's none of your business," huffed Lu Xinxin.

"If you get lost, I'll be a witness, how is it not my business?" Shu Pan retorted.

"My dad's here; you're about to pack up and leave..." The little girl suddenly looked toward the distance.
