Chapter 226 Like a Ghost
Chapter 226 Like a Ghost
A chuckle that slowly transformed into a pearl of laughter escaped Roy’s lips as he felt like a changed man. This type of feeling was ten, if not a hundred times as good as hooking up with his girlfriend, losing his virginity, and becoming a man back on Earth.
He seems to have undergone a rebirth.
He ran his fingers through his hair, finding them silky and longer than before.
His hair was black like ink, no longer white, and cascaded down around his shoulders.
He was incredibly strong, but after advancing to the second level of his earth-grade physique, his supernatural strength doubled.
He could feel it. Instead of one, he could release four roars of the thundering sword at the same time!
And… instead of a hundred, he could store 400 streaks of electric current in his body because his blood vessels have widened, doubled in size!!
By breathing in and pulling the world’s energy into his blood vessel, and at the same time, pushing out waves of aura from his inner world and injecting them into his blood vessels, Roy created an enormous amount of black aura lightning within his body.
?Four hundred streaks of lightning have been generated?
When this notification of the system sounded in his mind, several hundred arcs of electric light were dancing back and forth in his blood vessels.
“Rest. You will have your chance to dance soon.” Roy said in a raspy voice, and the flashes of black aura lightning settled down as if seduced.
?Four hundred streaks of lightning have been stored in your blood vessels.?
He had only finished restocking lightning in his body when the luminous stones around and over him lit up, brightening up his surrounding.
His face flickered as he noted that they don’t glow if there’s an Armored Spirit Archer nearby. However, if one appeared after they lit up, then they would keep on glowing until he moved away from them and stepped out of their activation range.
Basically, they were set up in a way to help armored spirit archer hunt down pure-blooded like him. If not for his sixth sense, it would have taken him by surprise. He would have died without knowing what killed him. It was weird, considering this place was built for them, and they should have an upper hand against monsters, not the other way around.
“This place feels less like an ancestral ground and more like an execution ground for pure-blooded Baldwins. Something is seriously wrong here.”
Maybe there were some forces in play here, intentionally making things difficult for him. Roy didn’t know. But remembering the warning that Damien had given him and going through what he had just experienced, he concluded that he was being hunted.
The light of the stones illuminated the one he killed.
Roy looked at it, discovering that it died with its eyes open wide in disbelief and getting a clear look at it.
It was hairless and had no bodily or facial hair whatsoever. It had three ruby eyes. One was located between the two. Its body, having two feet and arms, was like that of a 2.5-meter giant. Its wide cavernous mouth was like a car crusher, shaped like steel knives.
“So that’s what I bashed to death with Ghost Chaser. What a surprise!”
Roy flipped it over. Ancient magic circles were decorating its hands and back. He inspected them. The system’s notification rang in his mind, telling him all there is to know about these complex symbols. Surprise flickered in his eyes as he found something interesting.
“It would be a waste to not bring it out of here. The True Dragon’s fire essence breathed life into it, but these symbols are what allowed it to create Arrows made of Force. I should give it to Julian once I get back. Maybe he can reverse-engineer it.”
Roy threw it all inside his subspace before he continued his journey.
Three steps later, his face contorted as he felt butthurt.
Terrifying fluctuations were taking place all around him.
He could not only sense them but also see what was causing them.
“Baldwin, how dare you kill one of ours?”
In the blink of an eye, a thunderous roar echoed.
This roar made his clothes flutter like trees in a windstorm.
He stomped his feet on the ground, stabilizing himself before gazing into the dark.
“Get out here, and I will let you experience it yourself!” Roy’s voice boomed out, shaking the corridor.
In an instant, the fabric of reality all around him rippled like water before more than a dozen Armored Spirit Archers stepped out of the void.
All of them glared at Roy. “There’s a vast difference in our powers. Yet you dare challenge us?”
His eyes twitched uncontrollably. He was surrounded. There were five armored giants behind him and ten in front of him. What bad luck!
“Just because you have learned force doesn’t mean you are more powerful than me. Shameless bastards like you who look down on the descendant of your creators can never be my match.” He transformed his violently beating heart into a mist. The nervous expression on his face instantly fell, revealing a cold, murderous look. “I will be sweeping the floor with you lots. Mark my words!”
Each one was empty-handed, but the second he taunted the daylights out of them, an arrow with aura swirling around it formed in each of their hands.
A deep sense of crisis appeared inside Roy. He felt targeted everywhere on his body. The aura swirled up to the arrows’ tips, where they solidified. They now seemed capable of destroying him. However, he overlooked the feeling of death’s hands reaching for his life as he had the upper hand over them. As for how he planned to deal with them, that’s something he can only show, not describe.
“Let’s dance, Lil bitches!”
Staring them down, he, without a single weapon in his hands, rushed towards them, where it was dark.
The luminous stones behind him stopped glowing as he stepped out of their activation range. Now, until he took out all of the Armored Spirit Archers, they won’t glow even if he stepped near them.
No sign of light was left. Darkness fell in the corridor.
“He stripped it off of the fire essences and used them to refine his body beyond the mortal-grade. This thing dares defy the rules set by our ‘God,’ he who enlightened us. It doesn’t know life from death! Kill it,” An Armored Spirit Archer commanded, and immediately they attacked Roy.
Whoosh!
The 15 Armored Spirit Archers hurled the arrows at him. They were made and further coated in Arrow Force. Piercing through the air, they reached an inch away from him instantly.
Just as it looked like they would turn him into a sieve with holes, Roy’s footsteps vanished. In a blink of an eye, he disappeared from between them in a cloud of smoke, sinking into his shadow, avoiding their attacks quite effortlessly.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Instead, an instant later, it was them who were pierced by each other’s Arrow Force Coated arrows!!!
