Chapter 435 Mythical Quest!
Chapter 435 Mythical Quest!
Roy effortlessly lifted the treasure chest from its resting place, handling it with care. For weapon masters, this task might have posed a challenge, but Roy was no ordinary man.
Despite its weight and bulkiness, it felt as light as a feather in his hand.
With the chest in his grasp, he willed for his subspace to open.
Vroom!
A black hole opened close to him, and he approached it with light steps.
Standing before the subspace, Roy skillfully placed the chest inside, making sure it fits snugly within the confines of the subspace.
With a simple act of will, he closed the subspace, sealing the treasures inside.
Now that the task had been completed, it was time for Roy and Delilah to return to the Great Sun Empire.
Roy was about to use his authority as the lord of the fragmented world to open a portal when a low growl interrupted his thoughts. The sound emanated from a gaping hole in the wall of the hollow chamber, and it was as unsettling as the cry of a thousand malicious ghosts - a sound no living being would be familiar with.
Delilah shivered in her boots from the sound, and then she felt something.
"Lord, something is coming out from there," Delilah said in a concerned voice.
"I can tell," Roy said as he focused his gaze in the direction of the sound.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Footsteps could be heard, drawing closer and increasing in intensity with each passing moment.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness of the hole. It was a humanoid creature with a hunched back and hairless skin that was a sickly shade of grey. Its eyes were white, devoid of any color, and the stench of rot emanated from its decaying flesh. Without a doubt, this was an undead being!
"It's just a zombie. We were worried for no reason." Roy exclaimed.
Reacting quickly to the sight of the undead creature, Roy activated his True Magic spell model, conjuring a mana bullet at lightning speed and releasing it at the zombie.
Whoosh!
The mana bullet whizzed through the air, striking the zombie in the head. It drilled a hole through the creature's skull, causing it to stagger backward in a daze.
For a moment, it seemed like the creature had been defeated until the undead being regained its balance and let out a furious growl. Its head split apart down the middle with a sickening squelch, exposing the gruesome horrors lurking within.
As the two halves peeled back, jagged rings of razor-sharp teeth glistened in the dim light, ready to sink into any nearby prey.
But the terror didn't end there!
Twisted, spikey tentacles writhed and wriggled, emerging from the depths of the zombie's split skull like grotesque tendrils of death.
Each tentacle was lined with jagged barbs so sharp that they were capable of ripping flesh and rending bone.
The zombie had been angered, and it was now more determined than ever to destroy all signs of life in its surroundings!
Whoosh!
The zombie's tentacles lashed out at Roy and Delilah with incredible speed, moving so fast that the air around them seemed to ripple and distort.
Delilah's eyes widened as she watched them close in, and she was quick on her feet as she darted to the left, evading a swipe from one of the zombie's tentacles by mere inches.
Roy, on the other hand, took a more direct approach. He extended his Force-covered hand and grabbed hold of one of the tentacles meant to strike his temple, using his immense strength to hold it in place.
Zombie: "???"
The zombie was caught off-guard by Roy's unexpected move!
"Come here!" Roy yanked it towards himself.
Its grotesque body hurtled through the air, entering Roy's attack range.
And he wasted no time in unleashing a devastating blow.
Bam!
He punched the zombie's body with all his might, his fist crashing into its flesh with a sickening thud.
Bomb!
The force of the impact was so great that the zombie exploded into a mess of blood and flesh, scattering gore in every direction.
A gruesome spectacle unfolded before him, but Roy showed no signs of fear. He remained cool and collected, and most importantly, he remained clean. It was thanks to his powerful aura pressure. The blood and flesh splattered harmlessly against the black aura barrier, leaving Roy unscathed.
"Another one bites the dust." he uttered, "But what's a zombie doing in the world of goblins?"
?Ding! Congratulation. You have killed an undead warrior that escaped from the depths of the underground area of the Ashen Land!?
?As it has no soul, you gained 0 experience points?
?The stats of the zombie have been extracted and transferred to you. You gained +3 STR, +5 AGT!?
Roy wasn't expecting much, to begin with. So he was fine with what he received.
Suddenly, he heard a series of notifications that shocked him.
?The presence of the stone of history has been felt!!!?
?The condition to activate a secret Mythical Quest has been met!!!?
"Mythical quest?" Roy's eyebrows raised. "Why am I suddenly getting the hardest-difficulty quest?"
?Quest Name: Bringing the Truth to Light!?
?Description?
More than eight hundred years ago, the realm of the living was invaded. The strongest human expert of that time took it upon himself to save the world and became the Human King. He united the Far West continent and pushed the undead back to the Uncharted Land. He was the first man to stand against Death valiantly. Alas, he died fighting against it. But before his death, he left one last weapon for the future generation. That weapon can foil an insidious plan enacted by "Chaos" and "Death." That weapon is the "Stone of History."
?Task: Retrace the steps of the zombie to retrieve the Stone of History.?
?Reward: Inner World Manifestation Technique!?
'This quest sounds intense.' Roy scratched his chin thoughtfully. 'It's a mythical quest. So it won't be easy. But if it means uncovering the secrets of the past, foiling the plan of those two bastards, and protecting the future, I'm willing to take the risk. Besides, the reward is too tempting to give up on!'
