Chapter 468 Dangerous Enlightenment
Chapter 468 Dangerous Enlightenment
?
Supervisors were chosen carefully, with a focus on their loyalty to the empire and their ability to command respect from those they supervised. They were given wide-ranging authority to make decisions regarding the individuals under their command and were held responsible for any actions taken by those individuals.
Those assigned to a supervisor were expected to obey their orders without question, and failure to do so could result in severe consequences. However, the supervisors were also tasked with looking out for the well-being of their targets, ensuring that they were properly trained and equipped for their tasks, and providing them with support and guidance as needed.
Having a supervisor was both beneficial and restraining.
Arlo overheard the conversation. As it concerned Roy's future, he had to butt in, "Guys, there's no need to worry. I've been keeping a close eye on my nephew, and I know he isn't the type to give in to temptations. I know words aren't enough, so I'll make sure he doesn't stray to the dark side. He's got the potential to become a Realm Lord, and I'll do everything in my power to guide him down the right path. I hope there will be no interference in our family matter."
The others looked relieved at Arlo's reassurance, and Elijah nodded in agreement. "That's good to hear, Lord Arnard. We all trust you to do what's best for him."
Arlo gave a reassuring smile and turned to look out at the horizon. "Don't worry, I've got this."
Because of infusing his killing intent into his Sword Force, Roy felt a sudden shift in his consciousness. It was as if a door had opened inside his mind, revealing a world of darkness and power that he had never known before.
He felt a cold, sharp energy coursing through his veins. It was at this moment that he became aware of the Death Force, a dark and destructive energy that lay hidden beneath the surface of all things.
This force was unlike anything he had ever encountered before, capable of destroying not just physical matter but all forms of energy and even life force itself.
It was a force of utter annihilation, and to be honest, it terrified him.
Roy looked at the notifications that must have popped up in front of him when he entered the state of enlightenment.
?Ding! Congratulation on gaining insights into Death Force.?
?Killing Intent level is increasing!?
?Killing intent has evolved!?
?Killing intent has become Death Force!?
Roy's eyes widened in astonishment as he felt the power of death force coursing through his veins, taking root in every fiber of his being. It was a force unlike any he had ever experienced before, raw and potent, capable of reducing anything it touched to nothingness. He didn't even need to inspect it to tell what it did as he could feel it.
"Death force... it's stronger than the skills I have in my arsenal. It's amazing, but it's equally dangerous!" he marveled, a sense of exhilaration and dread washing over him in equal measure.
The taste of power over life was great, but Roy knew he couldn't let his guard down, not with a force as dangerous as this.
Death force had the power to corrupt and consume life, and he could feel its malevolent presence tugging at his very soul.
It was a type of force only the undead learned. After all, a living being would be consumed by it before they even master it!
"I need to be careful when using it," he muttered under his breath, his expression tense and focused. "I can't risk it. If I let this power consume me, I'll be no better than the monsters I seek to destroy. Unless the situation demands for it, I won't use it. It's better this way."
Suddenly, a notification popped up in front of him.
It read: [Death Energy is rampaging in your body. Your energy has decreased by 1 point]
The situation was dire. The deadly Death Force had already infiltrated his body, corrupting his life force. It was bound to cause untold damage if left unchecked. He could feel the relentless force that threatened to consume him entirely coursing through his veins and washing over every inch of his body, slowly but steadily eroding his life force.
"I need to do something about the Death Force rampaging in my body. I can't let it take over. I need to regain control."
With a deep breath, Roy closed his eyes and concentrated, drawing on his inner energy and mana to resist the temptations of death force.
"Come on, come on. I can do this."
The two forces worked together to suppress Death Force. It was a delicate balancing act, a battle of wills between the power of life and the force of death, but with each passing moment, Roy could feel himself growing stronger and more in control of his newfound power.
He felt that he was putting a leash over it.
He was close to victory when suddenly, it began resisting like a ferocious beast.
The three forces clashed in Roy's body, causing him immense pain.
"It's fighting back, but I won't let it win." Roy grimaced.
Roy gritted his teeth, his muscles taut and trembling as he struggled to suppress the all-consuming Death Force that threatened to engulf him. He drew upon every ounce of strength and willpower within him, pouring his very life energy into the battle against this insidious force.
His mind raced as he fought, images flashing before him in a dizzying blur. Memories of his loved ones, of his victories and defeats, of his hopes and dreams, all flooded his consciousness, threatening to distract him from his vital task.
But Roy was determined, focused, and unwavering in his resolve.
With a fierce cry, he redoubled his efforts, pushing back against the relentless onslaught of the Death Force.
Slowly, steadily, he gained ground, the force of his will pushing back the darkness that threatened to consume him.
"You won't control me! I won't let you!" Roy exclaimed.
And finally, with a final surge of energy, he emerged victorious, his body trembling with exhaustion but his spirit triumphant. The Death Force was broken and pushed deep into his magic sea and inner world in equal parts, suppressed deeply by his mana and aura respectively.
"I did it," he gasped, his voice barely above a whisper. "I...I conquered Death Force."
[Ding! Congratulation! You have subdued Death Force. Your life force has stopped reducing. You may unleash Death Force at your own risk!]
