Chapter 92
Chapter 92
Roy was a level 1 apprentice.
To reach the next level, he needed to increase the size of his Magic Sea.
Currently, it could only contain 20 wisps of mana.
That was its maximum capacity.
As he had read the novel, he knew that a peak level 1 apprentice could contain ten times that amount in their magic sea, and he also knew various ways to increase its size.
Learning a meditation technique that uses energy present in nature, oneself, or magic herbs to nourish the Magic Sea was the first method for a mage to increase the size of their Magic Sea.
The problem with this was that it required the mage to have patience and time, a lot of it.
If he were to put it into practice, he would need to go into seclusion for weeks in order to advance to the next level.
But… he didn’t have that much time to waste!
Thus, he decided against it.
The second method was for him to absorb Mana using his meditation technique and release it by activating the magic spell model repeatedly.
Days after days of doing this would lead to a breakthrough in the size of his magic sea.
He found this method pretty taxing.
Thus, he put it aside too.
To absorb the beast core with the ability to increase the size of the magic sea was the last known way a mage could increase the size of his magic sea. Everyone knew about this method, but no one put it to practice as it was common knowledge that beasts’ cores contained demonic energy that was harmful to humans. If a human were to absorb more than a handful of beast cores in less than a month, the demonic plague would build up in their arteries, causing a reduction in their blood flow and eventually causing a life-threatening blockage.
However, Roy had the beast core purifying method!
The system had gifted him this for saving the red-head from the goons in “that” alley close to Bernice’s tailors.
Like a bird, Roy swiftly dashed to the other side of the room, where a hand water pump was present.
Roy was an orphan that a warm old man took in. This man ran an orphanage, taking care of more than a dozen children. But he still had the time to take the kids to his village. It had a rusty water pump. This item was hard to see in cities. But it was present in old villages. Water could be drawn out of it manually. Roy had played with it back then, so he knew how they worked.
Methodically, he moved the handle attached to the hand water pump up and down, his actions resulting in water gushing out of the tap. The bucket straight below was filled to the brim. Using the Fire Control and Creation Runic Stone, he created a Level-1 fire below the bucket, heating it up. Minutes later, The water in it was steaming. It was at this moment that he made the fire disappear and took out Eternal Weeds from his subspace and threw them in.
A couple of seconds was all it took for them to dissolve in the hot water, turning in murky black. The scent wafting out of it was similar to the scent of a paste made out of mashing worms and pickling them for months. But Roy had to drink it to ensure that he would be to consume the Beast cores without issue.
Grabbing the bucket, he brought it close to his lips.
He sniffed it, and his face contorted as if he had smelled something extremely horrendous.
‘To drink or not to drink?’
He felt hesitant. But remembering what would happen in the future, he immediately tilted it, pouring its content into his mouth!
‘The sacrifices I make today will help me survive the disasters in the future!’
A fishy smell assaulted his senses, making him feel nauseous. Vomit came up to his throat, but he forced it down.
?Due to drinking the Eternal Weed Elixir, You’ve gained protection against demonic energy.?
Right after hearing this notification, he summoned the beast cores beneficial to mages called magic cores from his subspace, immediately putting them in his mouth.
After coming in contact with his saliva, they melted into two torrents of energy.
“Whoosh!”
The blue one rushed into his sea of magic, infusing with it, increasing its size, and stabilizing it.
?Ding! Congratulation. The unharmful energy of ten magic cores has been used to nourish your Magic Sea. As a result, Its size has increased by 40 points. It can now contain 60 wisps of Mana.?
?A life-threatening amount of demonic energy has invaded your body.?
“Whoosh!”
The red torrent of energy went down his throat and tried to sneak into his bloodstream. Only there would it become a poison hardcore enough to threaten Roy’s life.
But… the drink made out of mixing Eternal Weed with hot water that he had drunk chased after it like a furious dragon and annihilated it in a breath.
?Congratulation. All of the demonic energy has been annihilated from your body.?
Feeling the need to check on Roy, who they had left alone for several hours, Arlo, Vizards, and Amelia returned to the room.
Immediately after entering the study, Arlo saw a princely man who he surprisingly found familiar.
“Y-you are Roy?!!!” He utters out, his eyes full of disbelief.
Roy found the way he was looking at him quite disturbing. Clearing his throat, he said, “I know I’ve gone through significant changes in a short time, and it’s hard for anyone to relate me to my past self. But can you please not look at me like you did rather prefer death over believing I am this handsome, my dear uncle?”
The last three words were said with a pause so menacing that the hair on the back of Arlo’s neck stood up.
“Forgive me for my rudeness.” Arlo’s eyes that were threatening to pop out of their sockets at the sight of his nephew blinked away from Roy.
He was somewhat good-looking when he had his hair, but after losing them, his charm value dropped to negative 1. His brother, the Fierce Sword Count, wasn’t this handsome either. His ruby eyes, head full of hair, and status were what enticed others to him. But Roy… this boy was like a flower vase born into a family of heroic and bestial-looking men!
On the other hand, Amelia had her gaze fixed on her master. She couldn’t not stare at this fine specimen.
She wanted to burn this image in her mind.
He felt her eyes on him and turned his face to her, smiling at her.
Her master had caught her staring at him like a love-struck fool, and that embarrassed her.
But… she still didn’t move her eyes away from him.
Amelia said, “Master, I recognized you at first glance.”
Roy replied, “I knew you would.”
