Chapter 333 Change In A Position
Chapter 333 Change In A Position
?
Two days ago, Chen Hu was preparing to leave at the National Athletic Centre. Several team members, including the renowned national sprinter Su Tian surrounded him. They gathered close to Chen Hu as he packed his belongings, sensing that something significant was about to unfold.
With a hint of sadness, Su Tian addressed Chen Hu, "Brother Chen, it's hard to believe you're leaving at the pinnacle of your career."
Chen Hu replied calmly, "Yes, it's true. Tomorrow morning, my retirement will be officially announced. I have made up my mind."
Expressing his regret, Su Tian said, "It's a shame, Brother Chen. With your incredible strength, you could dominate the Diamond League and even the next Olympic Games."
A bittersweet smile adorned Chen Hu's face as he responded, "There's a sense of solitude that accompanies expertise at my level. It's something you might not fully understand. I believe it's time for me to bid farewell to the track and field team and pursue other endeavors."
Curious about Chen Hu's plans post-retirement, Su Tian inquired, "Brother Chen, what do you intend to do after you retire? Start a business, become a coach, or something else?"
Chen Hu, who had already decided, didn't hesitate to reveal his decision. "I will become a driver."
The announcement took everyone by surprise, leaving them astonished. They couldn't fathom who possessed such influence and stature to have Chen Hu as their driver. Doubt and confusion clouded their minds.
"Are you serious? You're going to be a driver?" Su Tian questioned in disbelief.
Startled, one of the team members who assisted Chen Hu in packing spoke up, "Brother Chen, this can't be true. You're just joking with us, right?"
Chen Hu reassured them earnestly, "I'm not joking. I genuinely plan to become a driver. Once the retirement announcement is made tomorrow, I will start working as a driver the day after. I'll return to my previous occupation and continue to drive for someone."
The team members remained stunned, struggling to accept this unexpected turn of events. They couldn't comprehend how Chen Hu, a renowned athlete, would transition into the role of a driver.
Only Chen Hu himself understood the reasoning behind his decision. Being a driver and bodyguard for his boss was a privilege he valued. The boss's support and the use of "genetic medicine" enabled him to achieve numerous gold medals and even set world records. Now that he had accomplished what he set out to do, it was time for him to return to a more ordinary life and continue serving as a driver for his boss.
Meanwhile, outside the Universal Building, Liu Yong, the boss himself, overheard the exclamations of a group of young individuals nearby. Initially curious, he soon smiled slightly as he listened attentively to their discussion.
"These reports must be fake. Chen Hu is at the height of his career. Why would he suddenly retire?" one of the young individuals exclaimed.
"Chen Hu is my idol. I never expected him to retire. It's such a pity," another chimed in.
"He has won all the gold medals he could, and his world records stand tall. If I were him, I would retire and enjoy life," someone else added, expressing their perspective.
"Well, that makes sense," another agreed.
Listening to their conversation, Liu Yong couldn't help but smile, recalling his conversation with Chen Hu two days ago.
Chen Hu personally called Liu Yong and informed him of his decision to retire and return as a driver and bodyguard. Liu Yong had suggested that Chen Hu participates in another Olympic Games, but Chen Hu firmly believed that returning to work as a driver for the boss would bring him more ease and happiness. Accepting Chen Hu's choice, Liu Yong welcomed him back anytime he wished.
Observing the young individuals reacting fervently, Liu Yong glanced at the Universal Building, checked the time, and approached a car parked further down the road. It was time to return. He eagerly anticipated the completion of the Universal Building in a few months, as it would become their new workplace.
Liu Yong left his villa's gate a little after nine o'clock the following morning. As the boss, he was free to come to the company whenever he pleased or not at all. A sleek Rolls Royce awaited him by the gate, which was usually driven by someone from the company's security department. Recently, it was mostly Xiao Zhao who took on the driver role.
Spotting Liu Yong's arrival, Xiao Zhao swiftly exited the car and opened the rear seat door to assist him. Liu Yong casually instructed, "Let's head to the construction site of Factory No. 1 first."
Global Semiconductor Company had been established, with its organizational structure already taking shape. Two chip manufacturing factories were constructed, and Factory No. 1 was situated on the outskirts of Huahai City, covering an expansive area of 300 to 400 square meters.
Liu Yong's request to visit Factory No. 1 was casual, but soon he realized something was amiss. Then, he noticed Chen Hu sitting behind the steering wheel, a realization that filled him with joy. "Chen Hu, it's you! You didn't mention anything."
Chen Hu wore a contented smile and turned to face Liu Yong. "Yes, boss. It's me, Chen Hu. Reporting for duty."
Liu Yong's mood instantly lifted. "Welcome back! I feel reassured with you as my driver."
Engaging in a cheerful conversation, Liu Yong settled into the car while Chen Hu started the engine. Their destination was the site of Factory No. 1, which was approximately an hour's drive away.
Upon arrival, Xiao Zhao quickly emerged from the car to open the door for Liu Yong. Chen Hu had taken over the driver role, while Xiao Zhao had assumed the position of a guest bodyguard. Liu Yong disembarked, accompanied by Chen Hu and Xiao Zhao, and proceeded towards the vast construction site without disturbing the site's supervisor for the time being.
The industrial land had long been levelled, spanning an area of three to four hundred square meters. Construction materials were already in place, including stacks of cement, steel bars, river sand, and gravel. Neatly parked excavators, cement mixer trucks, cement pump trucks, and large cement mixing plants were visible, indicating the magnitude of the project.
Lime lines were drawn across the open space, while several pile drivers were diligently at work, driving piles into the ground to create foundation holes with depths of tens of meters and diameters of about one meter.
Observing the scene, Chen Hu commented, "Boss, this is our chip manufacturing Factory No. 1. The scale is truly impressive."
Liu Yong nodded in agreement. "Indeed, this is just our No. 1 factory, and it's not even the largest. No. 2 factory occupies an area of over 600 acres, whereas this one is merely 380 acres."
The combined area of the two factories approached 1,000 acres, indicating their substantial manufacturing capacity.
Immersed in awe, Chen Hu silently marveled at the boss's generosity. He thought to himself, "As expected of the boss, his magnanimity knows no bounds."
Surveying the construction site with satisfaction, LiuYong noticed a group of more than a dozen people approaching him from a distance. A few individuals at the front hastened their pace, followed closely by the rest of the group. It was evident that they were aware of Liu Yong's presence, even though he had intended to keep a low profile and not disturb the construction site's supervisor.
As the group drew nearer, Liu Yong awaited their arrival, curious about their purpose.
