Book 2: Chapter 55: Total Annihilation

Vol 2 Ch 55: Total Annihilation

“Lame Zhang, Jade Scholar, this guy is a cultivator from our Hanyuan City. You people from the Yusheng Dynasty meddling in this—isn't that a bit too much?”

The middle-aged Daoist nun snorted coldly.

The scholarly-looking middle-aged man lightly closed his folding fan and chuckled. “We’re all here for the money. Talking about principles, Real Master Miaolian, are you sure your head's in the right place?”

“You!” Real Master Miaolian’s rosy face flushed with anger.

“What ‘you’?” The Jade Scholar smirked. “We rogue cultivators, rootless and without attachments, have never followed any rules. If my words offend you, we can duel after the matter is settled. For now… this guy dared to gamble like that and managed to leave the black market safely with the money. He must have an extraordinary background. How about we all act together, take the goods, and then discuss how to divide them? By then, even if we fight to the death, no one will interfere.”

The Jade Scholar waved his hand.

“I agree!”

The burly man and the green-bearded elder beside Real Master Miaolian nodded in unison.

“Alright!” Real Master Miaolian also nodded.

“Fatty, you’ve seen the situation. Are you going to hand over the money yourself, or shall we kill you and take it?”

Seeing everyone agree, the Jade Scholar wasted no time and turned his cold gaze to Sun Qiang with a sneer.

“Oh, so you’re after money! You should’ve said so earlier. I thought you wanted to rob my virtue—I was scared to death!”

Patting his chest, Sun Qiang stood up, his round face wearing an awkward smile. “However, this money isn’t mine. If I give it to you, I’m afraid my master won’t agree!”

The Jade Scholar shook his head. “Since we dared to come, we’re prepared to offend anyone. At worst, we’ll buy a Masked Skin to change our identities and live just fine! As for you, if you lose your life out of loyalty, wouldn’t that be a bit foolish?”

“That does make some sense.” Sun Qiang nodded thoughtfully, then glanced toward the end of the alley. “Master, what do you think?”

The faces of the Jade Scholar and the others changed abruptly. They turned to look and indeed saw a middle-aged man walking over slowly. Who else could it be but Ling Buyang, who had just fought in the gambling duel?

“Aren’t you seriously injured?”

Real Master Miaolian’s pupils contracted.

“We’ve been tricked! Everyone, join forces and kill him! Otherwise, none of us will escape!”

The Jade Scholar reacted quickly, immediately understanding the situation. With a furious shout, he flicked his wrist, and his folding fan shot like a bolt toward Ling Buyang at the alley’s end.

Although they were strong, they were far from being a match for him. The best strategy was to strike first.

As the fan flew, the Jade Scholar tapped his foot and dashed sideways at full speed.

For rogue cultivators, loyalty held no weight. They often said “join forces,” but in truth, survival came down to running faster than your allies.

Given his distance from the target and his quick reaction, the Jade Scholar had the best chance of escape. Yet, before he had moved far, a fierce gust rushed toward his back.

Feeling the sudden danger, his hair stood on end. He immediately curled into a ball, landing face-first in the dirt. In the blink of an eye, the gust struck a rock not far away, embedding itself over two meters deep and disappearing from sight.

It was his own folding fan, which had been deflected back at him so quickly that he barely avoided a fatal blow. If he hadn’t reacted in time, his heart would have been pierced, killing him instantly.

“If I’d known it was him, I wouldn’t have come to steal…”

The Jade Scholar’s face turned deathly pale with regret.

He had thought the fat man’s backing, even with the Destiny Hall, wouldn’t prevent them from successfully looting. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine it was Ling Buyang.

He had seen the earlier duel. Ling Buyang had beaten Han Qianye, who wore Cold Nether Armor, into spitting blood—a sheer display of monstrous power.

Turning to check on his companions, the Jade Scholar saw the burly man and the green-bearded elder charge head-on in defiance, their combined strength exceeding 300 horsepower. Yet, they were like fragile porcelain in front of Ling Buyang. With a single shoulder slam, both were sent flying. Before they hit the ground, their internal organs had burst, and they were dead on the spot.

“You…”

Real Master Miaolian trembled with fear.

Watching from the stage, she had known Ling Buyang was formidable. But witnessing him in action, she realized the terrifying speed and strength firsthand.

From the Jade Scholar’s attack to the deaths of her two allies, not even a single breath had passed!

“Jade Needle Sword Technique…”

Realizing escape was impossible, Real Master Miaolian flicked her wrist. Her longsword slashed forward, sending out a wave of sword energy that split the air, aiming straight for Ling Buyang.

Despite lacking family backing or a Heaven’s Fate boost, she had cultivated to the Ninth Level of the Source Pool Realm. Her talent was evident. The sword energy spread out like a sweeping broom, covering a range of over ten meters.

Though dispersed, its power remained undiminished, like countless flying steel needles piercing toward Ling Buyang—a technique that had once slain five opponents of the same level.

It was her strongest martial technique: the Jade Needle Sword Technique!

With this technique, she had killed five experts of equal rank.

Ling Buyang, who had just slain the burly man and the elder, glanced at the incoming sword energy. He raised his palm and casually slashed downward.

Using his palm as a blade, the energy surged forward like a dragon.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The sword energy collided with the blade energy like raindrops hitting iron bars. Without pausing, the blade energy tore through, heading straight for Real Master Miaolian. She wanted to dodge but felt her destiny locked, a fatal inevitability overwhelming her.

Heaven’s Fate martial techniques are terrifying because they can influence the soul and mind.

Only by facing them directly can one grasp their dreadful nature.

The thought barely crossed her mind before her body hit the ground, lifeless. Her flesh was obliterated, and even her soul couldn’t escape.

Having killed three people in quick succession, Ling Buyang’s speed didn’t waver. He continued to pursue the fleeing Jade Scholar. Using his fingers as a sword, he slashed toward both sides with precision.

“He’s using a sword?”

The two masked men in black on either side saw Ling Buyang, a master of the Heaven’s Fate Mo Dao technique, suddenly wielding sword energy against them. Both felt a strange sense of relief.

It seemed that while Ling Buyang’s blade energy was terrifying, it wasn’t unlimited—just like techniques that required a cooldown. After unleashing his blade technique, he likely needed time to recover before using it again.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have switched to sword techniques.

“Block the sword strikes and scatter! You go left, I’ll go right!”

The masked man on the left whispered, raising his sword to meet the incoming attack.

The masked man on the right nodded and did the same, slashing back with equal ferocity.

Their strength, as Ninth Level Source Pool Realm experts, was like crocodiles thrashing with deadly fervor—violent and deadly. Compared to the faint glimmer of Ling Buyang’s sword energy, their strikes seemed vastly more menacing.

However, when their weapons met Ling Buyang’s sword energy, it was as if heated iron met soft snow. The resistance was nonexistent.

Boom! Boom!

The two men’s heads exploded like watermelons smashed by a hammer, their bodies collapsing lifelessly.

“This…”

Even in death, they couldn’t comprehend how such faint sword energy could deliver such overwhelming power.

More shocking was that after killing five people in rapid succession, Ling Buyang’s pace remained unchanged. His advance hadn’t slowed for even a fraction of a second.

They had known Ling Buyang was powerful but had never imagined he was this powerful!

“Run…”

Lame Zhang, who had been fleeing alongside the Jade Scholar, initially planned to unleash his full power and fight the Destiny Hall Vice Hall Master. However, seeing this horrifying scene, he felt his courage evaporate. His supposed limp right leg, which earned him his nickname, suddenly became agile. He bolted forward, his speed surpassing even the Jade Scholar’s.

“You…”

The Jade Scholar felt like screaming.

He’d known Lame Zhang for over a decade, always believing the man to be disabled. The nickname “Lame Zhang” had stuck, yet it turned out to be a ruse. This was the man’s true trump card!

What a scoundrel!

As the Jade Scholar cursed inwardly, he suddenly heard the sound of hooves thundering beside him. Turning his head, he saw a magnificent steed running alongside him, matching his pace effortlessly. To his shock, the horse grinned at him!

“???”

The Jade Scholar froze in disbelief.

He was a Ninth Level Source Pool Realm expert. Even at full sprint, his speed surpassed that of tigers and leopards. Yet this horse not only kept up but had the audacity to spare a moment to smile at him?

“Source Energy?”

On closer inspection, the Jade Scholar’s expression turned to horror.

This horse wasn’t ordinary—it was a Source Beast brimming with Source Energy!

“Die!”

Knowing the horse must be connected to Ling Buyang, the Jade Scholar flipped his palm and struck toward the steed. Before the attack could land, the horse raised a hoof and kicked straight at his chest.

The strike wasn’t overwhelmingly powerful, but it disrupted his momentum, causing him to falter.

In the next instant, a blinding blade of light enveloped him entirely.

As his consciousness faded, the Jade Scholar saw the horse trotting up behind Lame Zhang, lowering its head to butt the man’s rear. The force sent Lame Zhang flying through the air. A blade light followed, severing his body in two.

Lame Zhang’s head separated from his torso as blood sprayed in every direction.

The Jade Scholar’s mind plunged into darkness. Only now did he understand why the fat man had dared to leave the black market so brazenly with three billion Source Coins. It wasn’t recklessness; it was a trap, designed to lure them in.

Meanwhile, by the riverside...

Han Qianchou, Han Qianye, and several others disembarked from a small boat.

“You’re saying that the ones chasing that fat man were Jade Scholar, Lame Zhang, Real Master Miaolian, and seven others?”

Han Qianchou frowned as he listened to his subordinate’s report.

“Yes, sir. That group of rogue cultivators is notorious for preying on other practitioners. Despite their infamy, their strength is undeniable. Even the dynasty has failed to suppress them after multiple attempts. They’re not easy to deal with.”

Han Qianchou nodded. “They’re infamous scoundrels among rogue cultivators, often plundering and causing resentment. Even I’d have a hard time dealing with them if caught off guard. It seems Ling Buyang has gone too far this time. He might be in serious trouble!”
