Chapter 163 - Immature

Chapter 163 - Immature

People passed by, but Kairen didn't move at all even in the middle of all that noise.

"Is he dead or just asleep?"

Asa poked Kairen's back as she said that.

"No reaction?"

Poke poke

She poked harder.

"Mmmm..."

"Oh, he only asleep."

"Asa!"

Asa flinched as she heard her name being called by the deputy team leader and hurried to move away, but she was too late.

"You!"

Deputy team leader Bray said in a low but scary voice.

"Ow ow ow! Sis! Let go of my ear!"

Despite her struggles, the deputy team leader pulled Asa's ear and dragged her away from Kairen.

"Unlike some certain people, Kairen has been 'actually' working on the library for the past five days! So stop bothering him and let him rest."

Asa grabbed the deputy team leader's hand that was holding her ear and pouted.

"Come on! Five days? You mean he worked at the weekends as well?"

Asa glanced at Kairen and chuckled.

"Pffft. No way!"

The deputy team leader pulled her ear once again.

"He had been sending us reports even on weekends so you'd better shut up and let him rest!"

"OWW! Sis!"

Asa was mercilessly dragged away from Karien and he was left alone to sleep as much as he wanted.

"Mnn..."

One hour later, Kairen finally raised his head and rubbed his eyes.

'Oww, my back!'

He massaged his back which was sore from sleeping on the desk and looked around.

'They are all busy...'

The unit members were all preparing themselves for tomorrow's mission.

Tomorrow, they were going to visit one of the temples. That was why Kairen didn't go to the library today and came here in case there were things he had to do. And that was also why he stayed at the library last night until 3 AM.

'Did their behavior change... or am I just imagining things?'

Kairen didn't get to visit the unit hall much in the past few days. He was in the library most of the time and only came to give his report to the team leader.

Now that he was here, he felt that the heavy atmosphere of the last week was gone to some extent. He didn't receive any glares and nobody talked behind him.

Kairen didn't know if they had forgotten things or something happened when he wasn't there, but he was happy with the change.

'I should leave early today...'

He had to meet captain Neal at the training ground for the first time after his exam so he had to leave a little bit earlier than usual.

Getting up from his seat, Kairen walked to Glenn's room to see if he had anything for him to do.

Kairen raised his hand to knock on the door, but before he could do that, he heard the sounds coming from inside and stopped.

"These are not what I asked you to find."

"What? They are not?"

"I thought I clearly explained what you were supposed to find."

"Come on! These are the same!"

"They are not! Put them back and bring me what I asked for."

He could hear Serria and Glenn's voices.

"Why do I even need to search for such a stupid thing?"

"Just do the thing I told you, okay?"

"Why can't you tell me the reason?"

"There is no need for you to know."

"Haa! You could at least tell me where to look for it! I had to search half of the archive because of the thing you want and now you are telling me that these are not what you wanted?"

"I wouldn't have asked you for help if I knew where it was. Keep searching the archive, it must be somewhere around there. Also, place these back to where you found them. Don't ruin the order of the archive."

Slam

Kairen heard the sound of papers being slammed on the table.

"These are literally the documents you wanted! Take them and do your job!"

BAM

Then came the sound of someone banging the table.

"If you are not going to help, then get the hell out of here! You are increasing my work instead of helping!"

Creeek

Tap Tap Tap

The sound of a chair being pulled came before Kairen heard some footsteps moving towards the door.

"Tsk! Look at me moving out of my way to help you! And this is how you thank me?"

"You just increased the work I had to do! Also, you only came because you heard Kairen got paid more than others because of working more and helping me!"

"...."

The footsteps stopped.

"Are you calling me a money-grubbing person now?"

Serrria's voice was a little bit angry.

"Yes."

"...."

Serria resumed walking.

"Well yeah, I am a money-grubbing person have a nice day."

Click

The door opened at that moment and Kairen saw Serria's pissed face right in front of his.

"...."

"...."

Grab

Serria grabbed Kairen by the shoulder and dragged him inside.

"Here, Mr. Glenn. Here is your favorite assistant."

She tossed Kairen inside the room towards Glenn.

"...."

"...."

Glenn and Kairen both looked at Serria's back as she closed the door and left.

'Is she still mad?'

Kairen frowned.

'Why would you be mad I am the one who should be mad at you. Tsk!'

Kairen didn't have the time to meet her in the past few days so he didn't know why she was acting like this, but if she was still sulking because of their argument, then Kairen had to fight with her again.

'She is being too immature! Tsk tsk!'

Kairen shook his head.

"Kairen!!"

Glenn suddenly walked towards Kairen.

"Y-yes?!"

Glenn grabbed Kairen's shoulder and pushed him towards a seat.

"Did you finish your work at the library? Are you finally back?"

Glenn's tired eyes were slowly being filled with hope for some reason.

"N-not yet."

"...."

He let go of Kairen's shoulders.

"How much longer will it take?"

Kairen tilted his head and scratched his cheek.

"Mmm... I've checked about 700 books or so in 5 days... I guess I can finish them in 10 more days maybe?"

"...."

The light in Glenn's eyes faded.

"Do you... really want to check all of them?"

Kairen sat down on the chair.

"Can I do anything else about it? I have to find out anything I can from that religion."

Glenn sat down on his chair and stared at Kairen with a meaningful gaze.

"The religion only?"

"...Well... there are other things that I need to look into as well..."

Glenn sighed and nodded in understanding.

"But 700 books in 5 days? Do you want to kill yourself?"

"I didn't read them all. Just skimmed and skipped through most..."

"Still..."

Glenn's voice trailed off and he lowered his head to look at the documents on his table. After a few minutes, he opened his mouth while peeking at Kairen.

"So... Now that you are here, help me a little bit?"

Kairen couldn't help but chuckle after hearing the words that he had expected to hear.

"Sure!"

. . . . . .

[Let's meet tomorrow]

[There is no need to go to the gym. Actually, it is much better not to go. Come to the training ground in the basement of the third building in the headquarters.]

That was what captain Neal texted to him last night. She said it was best not to go to the gym. Kairen agreed with that. He was told before that if people knew that he was captain Neal's student, he would have to face some problems. So it was better not to go to the gym where every SMF member had access to and train in a more restricted facility.

After finishing the task given to him by Glenn, Kairen left the main building and walked to the location that captain Neal said. He had nothing to do so he was going sooner than the arranged time. Considering the probability of him getting lost in his way, it wasn't a bad decision.

'If she isn't there yet, I will be able to test those spells as well.'

While he was searching for anything related to that religion, Kairen found some interesting books.

Some of those books were spell books of the old time. There were some in the religion section and some in the other section that Kairen searched while looking for anything related to his power.

Those in the religion section were mostly spells used in ceremonies and such stuff and most of them didn't have much destructive power and were only for show. But Kairen still found them interesting and handy, so he memorized some.

'It is quite far away...'

The training ground in the headquarters was far from the main building. It was understandable though. They couldn't afford to damage the other buildings if any accident happened in the training ground so they had to build it far away.

After getting the entry permit from the employee, Kairen walked down the stairs and opened the door of the training ground.

'I've arrived half an hour sooner so she might not be here yet-'

BAANNGG

As soon as he did so, he saw a person flying in the air.

"......"
