Little Tyrant Doesn't Want to Meet with a Bad End

Chapter 648.1: The Person Who Suddenly Appeared (1)

Chapter 648.1: The Person Who Suddenly Appeared (1)

It had been nigh impossible to accomplish the final plan in the Second Epoch.

There were many reasons for this, such as the decline of the Ardes, the dissolution of the Twilight Sages Assembly, and the growing disharmony amongst the humans.

However, the most significant reason was still the executor’s strength.

The Savior’s worshipers were at their strongest state in that era. Many thought the notion of simultaneously weakening the Mother Goddess and the Savior was so ambitious that it was ridiculous.

Then Carolyn Ascart was born.

Carolyn Ascart was a hero born amidst adversity. She was blessed with traits that made her a good leader—strong-willed, candid, pragmatic, decisive, and kind. Above all, she was exceedingly talented. She was so strong that she was a notch above other powerhouses who lived in the same era as her.

She collected many relics with her own strength, conquered the Witness State alone, and eventually contracted with five of the strongest ancient gods. Her feats made her a legend, even when looking at the long history of the Kingmaker Clan.

Carolyn’s claim of invincibility was not a boast but a fact. That was the reason she dared to choose this difficult road, and the current situation showed that she had succeeded.

While the fiend titan was buying time, the black sphere revolved, and from its inner core, it started to burst into flames like the morning sun. This was the authority she had stolen from the Savior in the last thousand years, and it was now her strongest weapon.

The rising sun emitted a brilliant radiance as if it was the center of the world. Beneath the sun, Carolyn raised her hand and focused her attention on controlling the power of the ancient Creator God.

She possessed neither Sia’s favor nor the rare ability to control the Crown’s Stones, but by pushing her limits, she was able to push herself to a level comparable to the Savior and the Mother Goddess.

Her success showed that it was possible for mortals to fight against the gods. This moved Roel’s heart.

“Carolyn, let’s stop here.” Seeing the mighty but volatile power, Roel dissuaded Carolyn from continuing the battle, but the latter ignored him. He spent a moment in thought before continuing on, “I don’t know how you did it, but that’s not a power a human can bear.”

Carolyn was covered in wounds from the violent mana pulsations, and blood was flowing from her jaws. Roel felt pained looking at it. He understood the Savior’s strength more than anyone else in the world, which was why he understood the price that had to be paid for it.

The only thing he could do was to make peace now, but Carolyn obstinately refused to give up. She stared at him with pupils that widened, then contracted. She was on the verge of passing out, but her melancholic eyes appeared to be looking at something else.

She knew she had to pay a heavy price for this endeavor, but she refused to admit defeat.

“…You’re right, but isn’t this what our clan is like? We seek to do the impossible even though it’ll only bring destruction upon us in the end. Normal humans can’t withstand it, but who else will do this if not us? I won’t admit defeat, whether it’s for myself or him…” Cough!

“…”

Even though she was bleeding and her consciousness was fading, Carolyn looked at Roel with unwavering eyes. She refused to back down.

Roel fell silent in the face of her determination. In her tenacity he saw a proud warrior who embodied the hope of a generation. He was confident that he was making the right decision here, and he didn’t agree with her actions at all. But how could he easily dissuade her when the final plan was built on the hard work, ingenuity, and sacrifices of many generations?

It was unbelievable arrogance to even think that it was possible to do so.

Carolyn had grown old. She had lived in an era from a thousand years ago, so her intelligence was bound to be outdated. To those from the current era, she felt like an elder who refused to open her eyes to reality, but that was only because they had never been through what she had.

All she had cherished had disappeared over the years. The only thing that powered her through tough times over the past thousand years was her determination to fulfill her mission. That was why she stubbornly refused to give in.

She simply couldn’t do so.

Roel knew that it was meaningless to say anything else. The only way to resolve this conflict was to defeat her.

A flood of holy light surged from his body, as he raised his head and looked at Carolyn with a respectful, solemn gaze. Beneath the sun, Carolyn sensed the emotions in his eyes, and it seemed to resonate with her as her turbid eyes regained a bit of clarity.

“I understand. Please make your move, Carolyn.”

“Very well.”

With a carefree smile, Carolyn waved her arm, and the sun descended upon the flood of holy light, raising an earth-rattling impact.

This was a showdown between two ultimate powers from the ancient era, as well as a battle between two heroes from the Kingmaker Clan who stood at different points in history. Even their ancient gods were overshadowed by their prowess and were forced to back away.

The glowing bird in the sky desperately flew as high as it could. The Witch Queen conjured the strongest defensive spell in her arsenal.

The Primordial Earth Goddess dived underground. The Dwarf Sovereign raised a massive shield that was around the size of a town square.

Grandar and Spansderck were forced to halt their battle and take cover.

Edavia grabbed Alicia and flew as far away as possible, anxiously followed by the Siren Sovereign, who was wailing in agony from having her soul rattled, but not daring to slow down.

“You must be kidding me! Whether it’s that man or Carolyn, what is wrong with them?!” the Siren Sovereign cried pitifully.

Meanwhile, the two different kinds of lights pitted for dominance at the center of the battlefield. The sun light and the holy light gushed at each other, spanning an area of over ten thousand meters in the sky. These two immense energies that harnessed the power to destroy anything devoured each other, and it eventually culminated in a devastating explosion.

The world instantaneously went completely white, as the shockwave devoured everything.

The battle between the two generations of Kingmaker Clansmen finally came to an end.

Could old people enjoy romance too?

This was a contentious question in Roel’s previous world, but it was considered perfectly normal on the Sia Continent.

Most transcendents only entered a relationship when they were considered middle-aged or elderly by the standards of normal mortals. Transcendents tended to focus on developing their transcendent powers when they were younger, as that was when their powers grew the fastest.

In fact, a census showed that the average age of transcendent couples was forty years old.

Antonio thought that he was still somewhat a youth, since age was relative and he wasn’t half the age of his thousand-year-old teacher. Yet, most people would have still thought that he was too old for his teacher for a simple reason—his appearance.

‘Cute is justice’ was an adage that could be applied across worlds.

No matter how huge the differences between the couple were, whether it was an age gap or even different races, most people could accept it as long as it was visually acceptable.

Antonio looked so much older than Astrid that those who didn’t know better would have wondered if he was her grandfather. This raised a dilemma in his mind: Should I keep hold of the final shreds of my dignity, or should I revert my appearance to my twenties with a spell?

Meanwhile, Astrid solemnly looked at the youth in front of her and asked, “You requested us to bring you over to where Carolyn is… Are you certain about that?”

“Yes. Can you locate her?”

“I can’t precisely pinpoint her location, but I have some clues.”

Astrid gently waved her hand, and several silhouettes manifested from a light bundle near her. One of them showed a black-haired, golden-eyed woman emerging from a fog.

“That’s her!” Paul was so excited to see Carolyn that he instinctively walked to her.

Astrid raised her palm to stop him before explaining, “I don’t know where Carolyn is, but I know what she’s after. My dreams reflect the past, so it’s likely that they have already begun fighting.”

“Fighting? With who?”

“With my descendant, Roel Ascart, and the young miss from the Mother Goddess’ faction.”

“Big brother Roel?!” Paul was shocked to hear that.

Astrid grimly nodded as she replied, “Indeed. That’s why we rushed over to fetch you. But… are you sure? Your appearance is bound to agitate her. She’s in an abnormal condition. We won’t be able to guarantee your safety if she attacks you.”

“Yes, I am certain. I wish to be by her side no matter what happens. That’s the promise I made to her, as well as the reason I escaped from the palace.”

“I see. All right.”

Astrid looked at Paul with a complicated expression before turning to Antonio.

Antonio quickly snapped out of his daze, raised his staff, and gathered his mana. The space around him soon began to ripple. He had been known for his spatial spells since his time in the Twilight Sages Assembly. It was no easy feat to teleport such a great distance, but it was definitely not an impossible feat for him.

Most importantly, he had a guide with him.

Astrid placed her hand on Antonio’s shoulder, and she began glowing with an iridescent light. Through the guidance of her dream spirits, they were able to figure out the rough direction for the spatial spell.

“Antonio, let’s set the destination further away from the battlefield. Our safety should take precedence,” Astrid instructed as she glanced at Paul.

Antonio nodded. He confidently thumped his chest as he said, “Rest assured, teacher. There won’t be any issues.”

They had only teleported into the middle of the enemy troops earlier because they had been in a rush to rescue Paul, but it was different this time around.

Whether it was Carolyn Ascart, the legendary matriarch of the Ascart House from a thousand years ago, or the current Roel Ascart, they were both incredibly powerful transcendents. Antonio had no wish to be caught in their fight, so he set their destination far from the battlefield.

There was no better protection against those two monsters than distance. Even if those two monsters tore down the sky, the three of them should still be safe if they were tens of kilometers away.

With such thoughts in mind, Antonio waved his staff, and a spatial crack slowly opened. It took several minutes for the crack to expand to a width for a human adult to pass through.

The three of them glanced at one another before entering the spatial crack in single file, Antonio taking the lead with a relaxed expression.

What awaited them at the other end of the spatial crack was not a peaceful nighttime plain but formidable waves of light rushing in their direction, as well as two silhouettes frantically fleeing from them.

“Wake up, Alicia!”

“You must be kidding me! Whether it’s that man or Carolyn, what is wrong with them?!”

Edavia and the howling Siren Sovereign frenziedly flitted in their direction as if they were in a race. The two ancient gods widened their eyes in disbelief when they noticed Antonio and the others emerging from a spatial crack, as if the three of them were fools.

However, Antonio didn’t have the time to think deeper into their reactions. The waves of light were already upon them by then.

Huh? We should be at the outer perimeter of the battlefield, right?

Boom!

The instant this question surfaced in Antonio’s mind, he was enveloped by the white light.
