Chapter 152

Not long after, the two of them reached the top floor. The lady showed Madison to Faye’s secretary, then left.

The secretary glanced at Madison. “Are you Madison Snyder?”

“That’s me.” Madison was starting to get more and more nervous.

The secretary got up and pushed the door of the office open. “You can go inside. Miss Yves is waiting for you.”

Madison entered the office nervously.

The office was minimally decorated, but everything in there from the furniture to the decor could be said to be a work of art that reflected just how tasteful the person inhabiting this space was.

Behind the wide office desk was a lady wearing a blue power suit. She was leaning back in her chair, observing Madison thoroughly.

Madison’s heartbeat sped up greatly.

The woman behind the desk looked to be in her thirties. Her features were exquisite and breathtaking, a classic beauty.

Her long black hair was pinned into a bun, making her look sophisticated and elegant.

Standing before someone with such a powerful presence made Madison shrink into herself, feeling impossibly small

“I–It’s an honor to meet you, Miss Yves,” Madison stammered out a greeting

Faye nodded, gesturing for Madison to sit down

Madison fidgeted with her hands on her lap, not even daring to raise her head.

She was starting to regret coming here already.

She should have never showed up. Miss Yves‘ presence alone was enough to make Madison feel suffocated, and she would have run if she had not already sat down in the chair.

“I’ve taken a look at your resume,” Faye said calmly.

Madison said hurriedly, “Thank you, Miss Yves.”

“You just graduated from studying management?” Faye asked.

Madison kept her head bowed. “Yes, I did.”

“What qualities do you think you have that make you suitable for the role of department manager here? It’s important to note that studies don’t represent experience, and you hardly have any experience,” Faye said, leaning forward.

The gesture was enough to make Madison break out into a sweat, and she could hardly get a word out.

Faye saw the look on Madison’s face and shook her head as she leaned back in her chair. “Don’t be nervous. Take your time.‘

Madison summoned all the courage in herself to lift her head up. “Miss Yves, I know my academic achievements are only enough for me to qualify for an interview. However, I’m determined and hardworking, and I promise to give my all in learning everything to yield the best performance if Cape gives me a chance.”

“Is that all?” Faye said, unimpressed.

Madison took a deep breath. “I know I haven’t got any work experience, but I graduated with first honors. I’m sure that in time, I’ll prove myself to be deserving of a position in Cape International?

“Well, why aren’t you furthering your studies and getting your master’s degree before you start working? Wouldn’t that get you a better job?” Faye asked.

Madison seemed less scared now. “My family isn’t that well–to–do, and my parents are sick. I need a job.”

“Your family has nothing to do with Cape. Do you see Cape as just a steppingstone?” Faye asked coldly.

2/2

Yves lowered her head for a while, before saying, “I know Cape is an international company, and I’m not saying I deserve this job just because my parents are sick. I came here because Cape is a huge force with enough room for me to grow and prove myself. I also heard that Cape values hardworking, focused individuals and has a great working environment. That’s why 1 applied to work here.”

Faye looked at Madison, saying nothing for a long time. Madison blinked, her chest heaving as she was slightly breathless

These words had come from the bottom of her heart, but they had also taken all of her courage to get out of her.

Faye Yves‘ presence was just far too powerful
