Chapter 99

Chapter 99 Wilbur forced a smile. “What are you thinking about?” “Fine, you don’t have to tell me. You’re the boss, anyway. I don’t have the right to know anything” Faye lowered her head and went back to eating. Wilbur shifted uneasily in his seat. Finally, he said, “She’s an ex-classmate of mine. She started dating someone who turned out to be a scammer, I was worried she might get Cape involved, hence I got you to suspend her duties.” Faye nodded with a smile. “I see. I have to say, Cindy is really pretty. Are you planning to fire her just like that?” “What else am I supposed to do?” Wilbur pretended to scowl, looking all serious all of a sudden. Faye chuckled, then started to dig into her food heartily. The pair finished eating soon after, Wilbur left his plates and cutlery on the table and rushed back to his room. Faye sighed, then cleared the table silently, bringing the plates to the kitchen. Wilbur got ready early the next morning. He went to the living room and was greeted by the sight of Faye sitting there, already dressed up. She seemed to be waiting for him.

“What’s the matter?” Wilbur asked. Faye said, “Oh, it’s nothing big. Are you free tonight, Boss?” “I should be.” “That’s great! I’d like to invite you to dinner tonight. Did you make plans with anyone else?” Faye asked. Wilbur asked curiously, “Why are you inviting me to dinner all of a sudden? We’re already having dinner together every day. What’s going on here?” Faye squirmed about a little before responding in a meek voice, “It’s my birthday today.” Wilbur nodded in realization. “Oh, I see. I didn’t know that! If that’s the case, we should definitely go out for dinner.”

Faye smiled brightly. “I’ll be holding you to that, then.” She got up after that and left the house, clearly overjoyed. Wilbur pondered for a while in the living room. He had to get Faye a gift for her birthday, but what should it be? Getting her jewelry would seem a little old-fashioned, but he did not want to give something too simple either. He really was bad at picking gifts. He thought about it, then decided to pay a visit to Octocharm Town. It was the biggest antique market in all of Seechertown. He could look around at some accessories and maybe get a nice gift for Faye, Having made up his undnd, he left at once. He parked his car outside of Octocharm Town and stepped out of the car to take a stroll around. He set his sights on the crystals and precious stones section, deciding to get one and make some minor personalization when he got home. He would need a top-quality stone for that purpose. However, the stones that he found were severely lacking in quality. He was looking for a stone with no impurities, the kind that had been formed after tumsands of years. He knew that such stones were pretty much impossible to find in the market, but that was fine. He was merely trying his luck After checking out nearly 50 shops and still failing to find what he wanted, Wilbur was beginning to lose hope. Just then, he heard someone shouting, “The jade bet at Jade Cloud Palace has started! Come take a look, everyone!” Wilbur looked up He saw a man wearing long robes. He was standing at the door of a shop named Jade Cloud Palace and calling out to p by with all his might.

The shop was designed to look like it was taken straight out of ancient times. Although Wilbur was not a professional in regard to jade bet, he did know a thing or two about it.
