Hearing Yang Ling speak nonsense this confidently, Yuna’s face reddened, as if she had been the one lying. At the same time, the Sumeer prophet slipped into deep thought, as if he had recalled something.

Holy land?

Could it be that their family were the tribesmen that had moved away from the crisis in ancient times?

The prophet recalled the story that had been passed down in the tribe for generations. Legend had it that in ancient times, the desolate land they now inhabited was originally the holy land for the Sumeer people. Their tribesmen lived rich lives, free from struggle. Many of their tribesmen who had to settle affairs overseas or train far away had to return to the holy land to pray for the protection of their deities on the first of September every year.

Back then, his tribesmen had created a magnificent civilization of Beast Tamers. The holy land, in the eyes of everyone in the world, was the most mysterious place, a place where everybody wanted to go to.

But everything changed after the great crisis. Almost all of the elites in the tribe had met with misfortune, and the holy land transformed into hell on earth overnight, full of traps and danger. It became a land of catastrophe, where people could die at every corner.

Throughout the years, the reason for the Sumeer people staying in Stone City, and not leaving the Wilderness of Siberia no matter how difficult the conditions became, was to protect the Teleportation Formation deep inside the divine temple. They were protecting the only way into the holy land of the past. They hoped that there would be a day where their tribesmen could come back and find the training spells and holy weapons that had been left there, and to search for survivors.

Having misunderstood Yang Ling and Yuna’s identity, the black robed man became excited. Even though there were not many people in their family, their lineage would mean that they would be in possession of spells that had been lost to the Stone City. This could be seen from how Yang Ling was able to directly absorb the energy of the Black Obsidian.

If they possessed the training spell for directly absorbing the energy from the Black Obsidian, they might be able to change the clan’s declining fate. They might be able to nurture some elite soldiers in just a few years, and through that build a team to enter the holy land of the past to search for the training spells and holy weapons sealed within.

The black robed prophet excitedly recounted the old glory of their tribe, engaging in conversation with the two, hoping to understand the family behind them further. Yuna remained silent, while Yang Ling left no gaps in his answers. He said that without the permission of the master, he was not allowed to spread the spell to absorb the energy within the Black Obsidian to outsiders.

“Yuri, after you leave the Wilderness of Siberia, you must remember to ask your master to visit us as soon as possible!” The prophet understood Yang Ling’s fake dilemma, and he decided to discuss things directly with their master. He believed that after the other party knew of the secrets of the Stone City, he would not hide things from them for the collective interest of the tribe.

Get my master to visit?

Meeting Yuna’s eyes, Yang Ling laughed. He had arrived in this foreign world for some baffling reason, where would he ever find a master that he had made up? But of course, all he could do was make the promise.

As they prepared to leave, Yang Ling addressed the prophet. “Oh yes, prophet, one more thing: have you ever heard of a Necromancer?” Yang Ling watched the Cloud Leopard clinging affectionately to Yuna. He thought about the massive Magical Beasts and the dark, muscular figure he saw in the Illusory Crystal.

The prophet shuddered, visibly shocked at the subject change. “Yuri, where did you get the news about a Necromancer? Could it be that they have already targeted your family?” he asked.

“I am not sure of the specifics, but I did overhear an elder in my family talk about this before I left home!” Thinking for a moment, Yang Ling did not deny no confirm the prophet’s words.

“Necromancers are despicable, bloody, merciless people!” After a pause, the black robed elder spat. “The Sumeer people command wild beasts by communicating with their souls, but a Necromancer is different. They use torturous methods to kill the Magical Beasts they capture, activating their vengeful spirits before controlling their corpses like an Undead Spellcaster.

The black robed elder’s expression was sullen, speaking as he touched his empty eye socket. He subconsciously released a coursing energy through his body, causing the pieces of cloth in the divine temple to flutter without the wind, the sound echoing through the air. Faintly, one could even hear a fierce beast roaring.

“Necromancers like controlling the corpses of dark element Magical Beasts. To them, an underground city full dark element Magical Beasts would be even more precious than a premium crystal mine!”

After a pause, the black robed elder said, “Over two hundred years ago, a powerful Necromancer barged into Stone City and wanted to forcefully occupy our divine temple. After an intense battle, even though I managed to kill the interloper where he stood and finish off his army of Magical Beasts, I lost both my eyes.”

Over two hundred years ago?

Looking at the black robed elder who was skin and bones and looked like he was about to kick the bucket, Yang Ling swallowed with difficulty. It was rumored that a person could greatly increase their lifespan after having trained to the level of high-level Sword Saint or Magical Tutor. This Sumeer prophet before him had abilities beyond comprehension. Who knows how high of a level he had trained himself to be!

Looking at the prophet’s empty eye sockets, then recalling how terrifying the Necromancer in the Illusory Crystal was, he knew that the great battle the man had won had to have been extraordinary.

Necromancers liked to control the corpses of dark element Magical Beasts, and a Necromancer had barged into Stone City, wanting to forcefully occupy the divine temple. In other words, there was a treasure in the divine temple that he was interested in and willing to take the risk for. The black robed elder had not spoken at length, but Yang Ling could quickly obtain a few critical pieces of information.

Could it be that there are dark element Magical Beasts in the divine temple?

Yang Ling recalled the faint roars he had just heard. The divine temple was large, but other than the pieces of strange cloth, there was only the statue with the broken arm that could shoot out green light from its eyes. If there were indeed a large number of Magical Beasts, where could they be hiding?

“Even though the Necromancers are detestable, their abilities are usually deep beyond comprehension. At your current level of ability, you should run as far as you can if you encounter one. Remember, do not attempt to battle!” The black robed elder lowered his volume as he addressed Yang Ling and Yuna. Even though he had managed to eke out a victory back then, the memory of that terrifying Necromancer was was still very fresh in his mind.

At that point, Yang Ling felt that he might begin to make mistakes if he spoke anymore. He still had questions but felt that it was more prudent to leave. He made some excuse about rushing home to tell his family of the encounter at Stone City, and he and Yuna departed quickly. It wasn’t that he was afraid that he couldn’t take the old prophet in a confrontation. It was that a confrontation was not necessary. Quickly leaving after obtaining the method to train the Soul of the Wild Beasts was the smartest thing he could do!

After a few formalities, the black robed elder did not try to persuade him to stay, and hoped that Yang Ling could convince his master to visit as soon as possible. Before he left, the prophet gifted Yang Ling five premium Black Obsidian stones, as well as a calf-sized Caucasus Vicious Dog to guide them out of the wilderness. He also gave Yuna a fiery red Cloud Leopard to protect her.

Yang Ling had benefited greatly, but so had the Sumeer soldiers. On the account of Yang Ling and Yuna, the Sumeer people gave them five speedy Pegusi, much to the elation of Fatso Hans. He was smiling even in his dreams.

The Siberian Pegusi were tall and muscular, possessing great speed. Their stamina was also extraordinary. They were able to gallop for hundreds of miles after getting a full meal. Whenever they encountered obstacles to their paths such as rocks or ditches, they could even flap their wings and fly past it, continuing their journey for a distance while flying low in the sky.

After being tamed by Yang Ling and consuming a large number of Magical Beast Blood Orbs, the two Rossi warhorses that were pulling the carriage had speed and stamina far superior to an ordinary warhorse. They could keep up with the rare Siberian Pegusi, running like the wind across the vast wilderness while pulling the carriage. They left the Stone City further and further behind.

Along the way, other than meditating, Yuna spent her time training her Soul of the Wild Beasts. The Cloud Leopard became more and more obedient, and she had increasing ease controlling the creature. At the same time, after having absorbed the energy within the premium Black Obsidians, Yang Ling once again felt a great boost in his Wizard Power, and that he was now only an inch away from advancing to the level of mid-level Earth Wizard.

Unlike the ordinary crystal ore, Black Obsidian not only harbored a large amount of energy, but could also automatically absorb the spiritual energy from the air. While Yang Ling was training his Starlight Wizard Mantra and Psychic Spell, the five Black Obsidians were absorbing energy from the stars as well as green life force, as if they were sponges.

With this, Yang Ling would usually finishing absorbing the energy within the crystal ores on the first day, while the Black Obsidian would automatically recharge its energy on the second day. It was like a battery, convenient and practical.

Yang Ling also discovered that the Illusory Crystal could also absorb energy on its own. Placing it next to the Black Obsidians sped up its rate of absorption. In just a few days, the crystal turned from a dull stone to a sparkling crystal. The images it produced also became much clearer.

One night, while the group were resting in a valley surrounded by large trees, and the soldiers were deep in slumber after a day of hard work, Yang Ling jumped to the top of the largest tree and trained. As a large amount of energy from the stars and green life force entered his body, he could feel his muscles contracting continuously, then expanding, then contracting and expanding again... His entire body was filled an explosive power.

With his mind blank, he subconsciously formed mysterious hand gestures one after the other, his massive mental energy spreading outward like a spider’s web. The snowflakes dancing in the air, the soldiers murmuring in their dreams, even the faint heartbeats of the Siberian Horned Frogs hibernating in a cave far away... All of these images appeared in his mind.

The tall trees in the wilderness, the low-lying bushes and ever present corn, all of these released a familiar ripple, its radius expanding from a few miles to hundreds of miles. He had accidentally achieved a breakthrough in his Tree Eyes ability.

Slowly, with Yang Ling at the center, a layer of green fog descended onto the valley, and began to increase in density. If the troops opened their eyes at that moment, they would have noticed that the wounds on their bodies were being healed bit by bit, and the ancient tree that Yang Ling was in was going through a monumental change. Thick roots were rising from beneath the ground!
