After successfully casting the large-scale Restriction, Yang Ling did not care about observing the results in the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda. He freed his mind and closed his eyes tightly, focusing on replenishing his withered Wizard Power and mental energy.
Even though he was in the deep Flying Dragon Valley, and there was no way for ordinary Magical Beasts to enter the area, he still needed to be careful. He had to have a certain amount of Wizard Power and mental energy at all times. Otherwise, if he suddenly encountered a high-level Magical Beast, he would be in a dangerous predicament.
The Spirit Gathering Spell Formation had long scattered into the wind, leaving behind Magical Beast Essence Crystals that had lost their luster. Coupled with the fact that he had overexerted his Wizard Power and mental energy, the speed of his recovery was slow. Yang Ling could only feel a tiny fraction of his energy return to him after meditating, motionless, for three days.
It looked like the large-scale Restriction was not something he could use as he wished!
After opening his eyes and standing up, Yang Ling shook his head, then opened his eyes and stood. He remembered keenly how his energy had poured from him and how little control he had had over the Wizard Power. He was lucky to have thought ahead and set up a defensive formation before he cast the Restriction, or the outcome might have been truly disastrous.
Just as he was about to enter the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda, he noticed something strange at the bottom of the empty lagoon. There were flecks of white showing in the dark mud. From above, they looked like pebbles, and also...
Yang Ling summoned the Tarantula King and rode on its back, advancing quickly toward the strange phenomenon. Soon, he realized that they were not rocks at all, but bucket-sized eggs.
Could these be Flying Dragon eggs?
Yang Ling once again searched the memories of the Flying Dragon King. As he had wondered, it seemed that the eggs before his eyes were indeed Flying Dragon eggs.
According to the memories of the Flying Dragon King, the water had the power to accelerate the Flying Dragons’ reproduction. Without the lagoon, which contained the poison and that unique energy, a Flying Dragon Egg would require at least twenty years to hatch. But with enough of the specialized water, it might only take a few years. The greater the energy contained in the water, the shorter the time required for an egg to hatch!
Now that Yang Ling understood what the eggs would need, he quickly transferred each and every Flying Dragon Egg hidden in the mud to the space with the Wizard’s Pagoda, and replaced them at the bottom of the transported lagoon.
After searching carefully, he had found a total of fifty six Flying Dragon Eggs. As long as he was able to get them to hatch, he could obtain a group of little Flying Dragons. It would increase the overall ability of the Magical Beast army, and it could also guarantee the proliferation of the Flying Dragons, making it such that he could build a base of Flying Dragons in the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda in every sense.
Inside the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda, Flying Dragons of varying sizes were all floating on the new Flying Dragon Lagoon. Some were using the water to heal their wounds, and some munched slowly on the Dragon Bone Grass near the shore. A few of the little Flying Dragons were playing and exploring the surroundings.
As Yang Ling had acted in a hurry, there was nothing planted around the Flying Dragon Lagoon. The field was bare. But the place was a good distance away from the forest of Arrow Bamboo and the Wizard’s Pagoda, leaving enough room for Yang Ling to expand the Flying Dragon Base.
It looks like it’s about time I got someone to focus on managing this space for me! Yang Ling thought. He had been feeling a growing need to have some help managing the space. He could transport all the saplings, low-level Magical Beasts, grass, and Dragons as he wished, but there was a growing number of things that required someone’s attention.
For example, after Yang Ling transported many saplings into the space, he would need someone to water them using the enchanted lake water at regular intervals. After he transported seeds, he needed someone to spread the seeds and grow the plants. He even needed someone to command the Magical Beast army so he could efficiently manage the Magical Beasts he was rearing in the Magical Beast Base.
But he would rather accept the lack of manpower than bring in someone subpar!
Yang Ling knew that the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda was the source of his power in this world. It was his greatest secret as well as his safest hiding spot, and he could not easily reveal it to outsiders.
Yang Ling eliminated the possibility of employing outsiders to help manage the place. Even though the Tarantula King and the Evil Eye Tyrant had a certain kind of intelligence, it was not enough to allow them to manage the entire space. They were also lacking in certain abilities, and it would be hard for them to lead the high-level Magical Beasts.
The Flying Dragon King Seylius was a decent choice, possessing sufficient intelligence and powerful combat abilities. But before gaining a greater understanding of its abilities and personality, Yang Ling could not trust it with such an important responsibility. After much consideration, he felt that only the brilliant Yuna was suitable for the job.
Yuna had made it to beginner-level Magical Tutor. As long as Yang Ling imparted to her high-level Wizard Techniques and continued to train her, she would advance to high-level Magical Tutor. He was sure it would be possible for her to one day reach sage level.
Exceptional abilities, massive magical energy, exceptional intelligence and an existing method to enter and exit the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda made her completely capable of commanding all of the Magical Beasts in the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda. She could help him create a top-notch Magical Beast Base!
After finally recovering a good portion of his abilities, Yang Ling rode on his Tarantula King and left the Flying Dragon Valley, quickly returning to Wissen Castle.
Having successfully tamed the Twin-legged Flying Dragons, the Magical Beast army was much stronger than before. He might even stand a chance in battle against a sage level expert. In fact, if he could take advantage of his surroundings and set up an ambush, launching a surprise attack using his lethal poison or poison techniques, it was possible that he could even kill a sage level fighter.
Now that he had obtained sufficient offensive and defensive capabilities, he could focus his attention on dealing with other matters. As the various large merchant associations entered and established roots in his territory, he had to quickly set in motion his plans for further development.
He needed to enhance the construction works in Black Water City and Wissen Town, and to attract more people to resettle there, rapidly expanding the scale of his territory. As long as he could guarantee sufficient food, fair treatment and good security, Yang Ling believed that the surrounding tribes would be interested.
He had to hasten the construction of the harbor at the estuary at the Donau River, as well as form an elite naval force led by Ashnamov as soon as possible to open a naval path from his territory to other human cities, like Bavaria. This would establish a solid foundation for his territory’s development.
Furthermore, he had to improve traffic conditions by building a dock near Wissen Town, connecting the estuary of the Donau River and Black Water Lake. He had to find ways of developing the Five-Colored Crystal Vein in Taildon Valley as soon as possible to ensure that he has enough capital to sustain the large-scale development.
Yang Ling arrived at Wissen Castle after over two days of traveling. Similar to the last time, he killed dozens of low-level Magical Beasts that obstructed his path along the way, obtaining a good amount of Magical Beast Essence Crystals and a hundred bottles of Magical Beast Blood Essence.
As soon as he entered the castle, Yang Ling heard Murbaqi, his old trusty butler, calling out to him. “Sir, you’ve returned right in time. Leader Kerband from the Wolf Troop Team says he is looking for you for something important. He is with Sir Goode at the meeting hall!” Yang Ling noticed Murbaqi’s face looked pretty haggard, like he had been running back and forth across the castle the whole time he had been gone. But his appearance was still tidy, with spotless clothes and neatly combed hair. He embodied his reputation, as always.
Yang Ling went to meet Kerband, and on the way recalled the situation with the man. Kerband had traveled to Monston to set up a Troops Association for him. Yang Ling called his Unicorn and walked quickly to the meeting hall.
As more soldiers and adventurers entered the territory, and more merchant associations arrived, it would undoubtedly be beneficial to set up a Troops Association in the territory. It could instill confidence in the merchant teams in the development of the territory, guarantee the safety of their shipments, dispatch the troops that were crowding Wissen Town, drinking and causing trouble...
On the surface, setting up a Troops Association would not bring about any direct economic benefit. In fact, he might even have to give up a piece of land for free. But a Troops Association would bring tactical advantages to his territory. It would mean that his territory had been recognized by the continent’s superpowers, and would signal a new era for him.
For the long term development of his territory, Yang Ling did not mind mobilizing all of his resources to prioritize the creation of a Troops Association. But after discussing it for a moment with Kerband, who had come from so far away, Yang Ling realized that the matter was not as simple as he had imagined.
Yang Ling learned that he needed to submit an application to the association headquarters, which was in Montson, and obtain the approval of two elders if he wanted to set up a new Troops Association. Only then could he enter the next round of examinations, where the headquarters would observe to see if they could meet the condition requirements.
If Yang Ling passed that test, he would still have to obtain the full agreement of five additional elders, or approval from at least seventy percent of the branch associations. Only then would he be granted the pass.
Kerband was well connected, and they had easily passed the first round with his help. But at the final step, he had met with the stubborn objection of an elder, who claimed that the total population of the Magical Beast Territory was too small to meet the requirements to set up a branch association.
“Even though it has a certain amount of independence, the Troops Association can still be influenced by various factions. It will be hard to set up a new branch association without the full support of the elders. Even though we could in theory garner the support of the branch associations scattered all across the land and obtain approval that way, this plan is much harder to coordinate, and the possibility of us passing is low!”
Kerband shook his head in frustration, sighing. He started out thinking that he would be able to convince all of the elders easily using his connections and Wissen Town’s projected development. He did not expect that the factions would be envious, or even spiteful toward the Magical Beast Territory. He had been unable to salvage the situation, even with the help of a few great families and the Wolf Troop Team.
“Sir Kerband, is there no way you can help me?” Yang Ling asked, still somewhat surprised.
Even though Kerband had not explicitly said so, Yang Ling picked up on the fact that someone was intentionally causing trouble for them. Thinking about it, this incident was probably connected to the foreign affairs minister Grichie and the military minister of the Banto Empire. Only those two factions had a conflict of interest with him and an unquenchable hatred toward him, and only these two large factions had such massive influence!
