652 You are Quite Popular
Initially, Bai Xi Xi was keeping her guard up against Fu Chen. Seeing that he did not bring out the matter about her practicing basketball alone on the basketball court nearby the park made her feel more at ease.
Although the two were tablemates, Bai Xi Xi did not speak to Fu Chen that much unless if it was something regarding the lessons or school matters.
This was because there would always be others who wanted to talk to Fu Chen when the teachers were not around.
The once quiet spot at the back of the class has become a little livelier.
Bai Xi Xi was finding it troublesome to read her books alone, but it seemed that the girls in their class did not seem to care about her. Bai Xi Xi had a feeling that once she rose from her seat, another girl would take her seat just to continue chatting with Fu Chen.
Her brow furrowed as she tried to tune out the noise around her.
“I’m sorry, but can we continue and chat later?” Fu Chen spoke. “I still want to do a bit of revision.” He pointed at the books on his table and continued, “Teacher Du wanted me to hand over this exercise before school ends.”
“Fu Chen, do you need any help?” One of the girls asked. She leaned over to him and batted her eyes at him. “I can teach you if you don’t understand anything.”
Another girl clicked her tongue. “Ruan Xia, what do you mean? Your result isn’t that good anyway.”
.....
Ruan Xia’s face turned bright red. She glanced at Fu Chen before shooting a threatening gaze at Tang Yu. “Tang Yu, what do you mean by that?”
Fu Chen quickly noticed that the situation between the girls had gone a little out of hand because of him. “Girls, I appreciate that you want to help me, but I can do this exercise by myself.” His lips turned into a smile when the girls were looking at him. “If there is something that I did not understand, I will find you.”
Ruan Xia and Tang Yu continued to exchange murderous gazes at each other. Their friends tugged at their arms, coaxing them not to fight in front of Fu Chen and leave a bad impression on him.
Soon, the girls began to disperse and once again, the atmosphere was a bit quiet.
Bai Xi Xi continued to read her books as if the scene from a few seconds ago did not happen at all. A sigh escaped her, noticing that Fu Chen was looking at her. “What is it?”
Fu Chen was surprised when Bai Xi Xi spoke. He touched the tip of his nose and looked at his tablemate with a guilty feeling. “I’m sorry about earlier. I hope that we were not disturbing you reading.”
“It’s alright.” Bai Xi Xi answered without looking up.
After being Bai Xi Xi’s tablemate for a few days, Fu Chen already knew that Bai Xi Xi was someone who liked to read a lot. It doesn’t matter if her surroundings were noisy. Bai Xi Xi would continue to read the books in her hand without care.
He had tried to peek at her books once, but then, he realized that he could not understand anything as it was in a foreign language. He peeked at her a few times and realized that Bai Xi Xi understood the words she was reading.
Fu Chen thought that his tablemate was too amazing.
Not only that she was good at basketball. She was also good at a foreign language.
No wonder the teachers liked her and she had become the class monitor. Fu Chen began to admire Bai Xi Xi a little more.
Noticing that Fu Chen was still looking at her, Bai Xi Xi finally raised her gaze to look at him. “It seemed that you are quite popular.”
Fu Chen chuckled. He rubbed his neck, feeling slightly awkward at Bai Xi Xi’s words. “I’m a newly transferred student. It’s important for me to get along with my classmates.”
“Oh...” Bai Xi Xi shifted her eyes to her books again.
Seeing her reaction made him feel that something was wrong. “You... Class Monitor, it couldn’t be that you are thinking that I am a playboy, right?”
This was exactly what Bai Xi Xi was thinking.
Each time that the girls were coming to his table, Fu Chen would chat with them happily. She saw the look on his face and the way he was talking to the girls. Her instinct was telling her that Fu Chen was quite good at talking to girls.
However, Bai Xi Xi was not going to tell Fu Chen what was going through her mind.
The corner of his lips twitched upon noticing that he was ignored. Heaving a long, heavy breath, Fu Chen decided to look at the papers that Teacher Du had given him.
The two of them sat side by side, minding their businesses.
After a while, Bai Xi Xi noticed that the person beside her was still stealing a few glances at her. She heaved a sigh and looked up. “What is it?”
Fu Chen coughed. “No. I was just wondering if you know how to solve this question.”
Bai Xi Xi leaned over and saw that Fu Chen was struggling with some English questions. She put down her book and started to point to him the answer.
Fu Chen’s eyes lit up. He found that the way Bai Xi Xi was teaching him was easier to understand. It did not take him too long to finally figured out the answer.
Seeing that the boy finally wrote down his answer, Bai Xi Xi leaned back, wanting to continue her readings. She paused briefly and spoke, “If you still have trouble understanding it, I can lend you my notes.”
Fu Chen had a grateful look in his eyes. “Class Monitor, thank you.”
His reaction made Bai Xi Xi pause. Then, she turned around again, wanting to ignore her tablemate.
Fu Chen continued to do his exercise. Just then, a shadow loomed over him, blocking the lights in front of him. Fu Chen looked up and saw that their classmate, Jian Chi in front of him.
The man smiled and spoke, “You are Fu Chen, right? Are you good at playing basketball? Coincidentally, we don’t have enough members today. Do you want to join us?”
