Chapter 242: Starting new

The three ladies, kept sweeping the curtains off from every side, looking for their darling. Their behaviour shocked the patients as they kept apologising until they swept one curtain apart and saw the person they were looking for.

''Over here, girls'' Brenda said and the two rushed forward.

''Darling, what happened to you?'' Chloe asked as she placed her bag and trench coat down.

''Look at you, you seem to have lost so much weight'' Brenda said.

''You scared us, Kris'' Jenny added.

''Girls, calm down. this is the hospital'' Kris hushed them down and they lowered their voices and sat around her on the bed.

''Did your low sugar act up again?'' Chloe asked worriedly.

''That damn low sugar deficiency'' Jenny cursed.

''Who brought you to the hospital? Was it Ray?'' Brenda asked noticing the subtle change in Kristine's face. Off all the four of them, Brenda was the one who could read people the most. From the most insignificant changes to the major, she could tell even a slight emotional change in a person.

''Wait, you didn't get too high while fooling around with Ray which resulted in you visiting the emergency room, right?'' Jenny asked and the three looked at her, seemingly speechless. ':What?''

''That would be high blood pressure from over excitement, Jenny'' Chloe corrected her and shook her head.josei

''Her sugar level dropped either because she didn't remember to consume her daily dose of supplements or she was suddenly under stress'' Brenda turned to look at Kristine who avoided her gaze, ':I personally gave you, your supplements yesterday because I know you easily forget to take them, which leave us with one situation'' Brenda quickly made the deductions and Chloe applauded her.

''As expected of the brainy in the group''

''Kristine Amanfo, what happened?'' Brenda asked in a stern voice.

''Can we talk about it when we get home? We are in the hospital'' Kristine said softly and Brenda stood up.

''I will go and get the discharge papers''

''Did something really happen?'' Jenny asked and Kristine nodded her head.

Greenville street.

B.C.J.K. Apartment.

''What?''

''What?''

''Breakup?''

The three ladies all looked at Kristine with puzzled expressions.

''Ah'' Brenda chuckled and stood up. immediately she did, Jenny held her hand.

''B, where are you going?'' she asked Brenda.

''Where do you think I will be going to? That been said, Chloe, where did you out my working tools? I realised they weren't at their original place after I came out of my room''

''Kris asked me to hide them because we all know what you will use them for when she tells us this news''

''B, sit down'' Kristine pulled her back on the couch.

''You…'' Brenda was speechless. she was about to storm out of the house and go to Ray's villa. And when she did, it wasn't going to be a very good idea because they were all aware of her explosive nature.

''He broke up with you when the wedding is just a few months away. How is that okay? If none of you is going to do something about it, then, I will, okay?'' Brenda said, putting her hands on her waist. She was one to never believe in love. After finding her boyfriend in bed with another girl, she had kissed goodbye to all fantasies involving love. Deciding to channel her energy and time into her work as an architect. She hadn't been in a relationship in the last ten years of her life. She was also the oldest among them, nearing her thirties.

''B, just let it go. I still have my dignity to protect''

''Are you f**king kidding me? Dignity? What are you going to tell your parents? What will happen to all the invites we sent out? Most importantly, what will happen to you? He can't just break this off and go free?''

''That's right. I have to agree with Brenda. He must pay for all the time you wasted on him. Emotionally and physically'' Chloe agreed with Brenda.

''I just don't want to do anything. Just let it go, okay? I don't want to see him and I don't wish to continue anymore. I feel awful and instead of asking that scum for compensation, I wished you were more concerned about me. I am confused, I feel that I might go crazy any moment from now. I don't even know how I am going to explain this to my family. I don't know how I am going to un-invite all the people I sent cards out to. Most especially, I don't even know what the future holds for me'' she finished and busted into tears.

''Silly girl'' Brenda hugged Kris. ''Who said we are not concern about you? It is precisely because we are concern about you that we don't know how to console you''

''It's alright, Kris. We are here for you'' Jenny joined in to hug her.

''That's right, we are here for you. don't worry about anything else. We will handle everything'' Chloe also added.

After a rather emotional outburst, the girls decided to concentrate on the problem at hand, which was how to tell the news to Kristine's mother.

Brenda being the smartest among them dealt with calling the invited guests to call it off, while Chloe went to see the wedding planner to put a stop to the preparation. Jenny who worked at the same restaurant with Kris called to explain things to their boss and asked for a short leave for both of them. she stayed with Kristine in their apartment keeping her company.

It was soon over a week since the marriage was called off but Kristine didn't have the courage to inform her mother, she still didn't know how to break the news to them but she knew she still had to do it one way or the other and it was going to be a big breaking news in the family who couldn't wait to ridicule one another.

''Girls, guess what?'' Chloe walked out of her room to the hall excitedly.

''What?'' Brenda asked with her head leaning against Jenny's shoulder lazily while Kris laid on the big couch.

''My boss just gave me four tickets to Neo Island'' Chloe exclaimed.

''It's that all?'' Brenda asked shaking her head.

''uh-huh, what kind of reaction is this? Don't you understand? It means we all get to go on a vacation''

Brenda sat up straight after hearing her, ''you mean a vacation to Neo island?'' she asked and Chloe nodded her head.

''Yes, a vacation. All four of us'' Chloe added.

''I don't think I am in the mood for any vacation'' Kristine said and the three ladies turned to look at her.

''Oh, you are so going'' Jenny said.

''Yes, because the main purpose of this vacation is for you to go and breath a different air and come back a different person'' Chloe sat pulling Kristine to sit up.

''This is going to be great, Kris. I will call Mr. Jack and tell him we are extending our leave to next month'' Jenny said excitedly and took her phone from the table.

''When can we leave?'' Brenda asked.

''Next tomorrow''

''Your boss really gave you this?'' Brenda asked suspiciously.

''Oh, even I was surprised by his actions''

''Well. at least he has a little bit of conscience. After working you out for the past years, this is the first time he is allowing you to go on a vacation'' Brenda said and Chloe nodded her head. Her boss was a difficult person to deal with. It could have steamed from how he was able to start his own company at the age of 23 and was able to build it to what it was today. She genuinely admired his passion.

''He is a good man'' Chloe said and Kris, Brenda and Jenny stopped what they were doing and looked at her. ''What? Why are you looking at me like that?''

''Chloe… you are not having feelings for your boss, are you?'' Brenda asked casting her a suspicion glance.

''Huh… no. I am not. I know my limits and what I should do and shouldn't do. my boss is off limits'' Chloe said hastily.

''At least you have self-awareness'' Jenny said.

''You…'' Brenda shifted to Chloe's side and held her dress collar saying, ''you better not end up falling for your boss no matter how good he is to you. He is somewhere wayyyyy up the food chain. He also has a fiancée, if you end up falling for such a person, you are done for'' Brenda said seriously.

''I know. I am not in love with him. It is impossible between us''

''Good. Don't think about useless things and get your bearings together'' Brenda said again and stood up, ''meanwhile, let's go and start packing'' she screamed at the top of her voice.

''Let's go'' Chloe pulled Kris up from the couch.

''Mr. Jacks said we can take two more weeks off. We can work extra to make up for it when we return'' Jenny said to them.

''Good, I will call my office and tell them I'm taking a few days off'' Brenda said and went into her room.
