Chapter 254: Getting rid of an animal

Kristine was in the kitchen alone cooking as the others still had to go to work. Ronald too had come earlier on to pick her mother up to go out, so she was now the only one around. It was almost evening time and everyone was soon going to return. She decided to prepare them a meal so they could eat together when the others arrived.

She was busy preparing vegetable salad when she heard the door banging loudly. She lowered the fire and washed her hands before going to the door.

Ready to scold the person on the other side, she was surprised to see Ray when she opened the door and frowned. She tried to close the door but it was like he had anticipated her move and quickly held the door in place.

''I waited till everyone left'' he said, his eye burning with anger as his gaze travelled up and down Kristine's body.

''What?'' Kristine asked and suddenly remembered she was in a loose petal dress that exposed her neckline and collar bone. A little bit of her cleavage was also on displayed. Kristine hurriedly pulled the dress up. She had casually put it on because she was alone in the house. ''What do you want?''

''The scandal, it was your doing, right?''

''I don't know what you are talking about. Leave my apartment before I call the police and report you for stalking me''

''You are the only one who knew those things about me. How can it not be you? You are the one I broke up with. You are angry with me and wants to avenge. You wanted my attention, Kristine''

''You… are really crazy. What makes you think I have a hand in what happened to you? You have always lived a careless life and it was your agency and manager who always cleaned after you. All those girls you messed with. Do you think I am the only one who wants your life to end miserably? Stop kidding yourself. Whatever you are going through, you brought it upon yourself. You can only blame yourself for what is happening to you, right now''

''You are finally showing your true colours, you little slut''

''You never wore these things to show me. But, I saw that even your mother likes that man and they went out together. You are already playing a wife to him''

''So what if I am playing wife with him. He is better than you in so many ways. Also, what business of yours is it? We already broke up. I don't owe you any explanation''

''Way to go, Kristine, but you see. I won't go down alone. Give it to me too. I deserved it after being with you for three years''

''What? You, animal. Get out of here before I call the police. Or should I call the reporters? I think a lot of people will be happy to see how downhill your life has become''

''I was with you for three years and we even planned to get married. We would have gotten married coming next week if we hadn't broken up, so let me also get a taste of that body'' he suddenly pushed Kristine back into the room and they both started to struggle with him trying to force himself on Kristine.

''Ray, you are crazy. Let me go'' Kristine got frightened and fought with all her might but she was a woman and her strength could not be compared to an angry man.

''Let me get a taste of that too. Let's see who will make you scream out his name in a short time. I can also satisfy you, even more than he did'' Ray pushed Kristine on to the long sofa and started to kiss her.

She struggled against him and found herself slowly losing consciousness from the shock. He was extremely aggressive and hit her a few times as he tried to pry his way. His entire weight was on top of her.

Turning her face towards the table, she saw the empty glass her mother had left on the table after drinking water. She stretched her hands towards it and was able to pick it. She hit his head with the glass and it broke to pieces. She took the little distraction and kneed him before pushing him down and took to her feet. He stood up and chased after her to the door and she managed to get into her room and locked it.

Ray hit on the door several times and spoke from outside the door, ''Kris, it's useless to play hard to get. No one is coming to save you. Even if someone came, they won't be able to enter because I locked the door. Today, I must get even with you''

Inside the room, Kristine realised she had left her phone in the hall. She pushed her dressing table against the door before rushing inside her closet. She opened drawer after drawer and finally found what she was looking for. It was her pepper spray she had kept away. Brenda had given one each to them to use especially at night but she never got around to use it and had kept it away.

Her entire body was shaking as she held the pepper spray and walked towards the door.

''Open the door, you bitch'' Ray screamed.

''Ray, if I open the door, do you promise to let her take things slow? Actually, I still love you. when I heard the news yesterday, I wanted to contact you but my phone was confiscated, thus I couldn't find you. It's good that you are here'' Kristine's voice quivered as she said those words. The pepper spray was in her left hand behind her.

''Is that true? Did you really try to contact me?''

''Off course'' noticing the change in his tone, Kristine knew she was on the right track. ''You know how much I love you, right? I don't really mind that you are going through something right now. I always believed in you''

''That's right. You always believed in me''

''Then, I'm going to open the door. Let's leave this place, first. I promise to go with you anywhere you want us to, but you have to be gentle with me''

''Kris, I promise to be gentle. As long as you agree to leave this place with me. I still have some money saved up. we can leave D-City and go to a far place. A place where no one knows us and begin a new life together. We will get married and have our own kids. I will treat you well, Kris''

''I believe you, Ray'' Kristine pulled the table aside and gradually turned the door knob.

When Ray saw her in front of him. He pulled her into a tight hug saying, ''Kris, thank you for always believing in me. You are the only one I have right now. My agency, manager and everyone I knew have abandoned me. It is only you''

''Really? I will never abandon you, Ray'' she quickly stuffed the spray into her side pocket as soon as he tried to hold the hand that had the spray. ''Ray, let me turn the food on fire off first, did you bring your car?''

''Yes, I did''

''Then, I will just turn off the fire before we leave'' Kristine turned to go towards the kitchen and he followed closely behind.

The water was boiling when she got to the kitchen. A crazy thought suddenly crossed her mind. 'If I pour this hot water on him, it will be countered as self-defence, right?'

She looked at Ray who was standing across the kitchen table and turned the stove off. With shaken hands, she held the rubber handle of the pot and splashed the water on Ray who was not anticipating such a step from her. He screamed and bent down in pain.

Kristine went forth to hit him with a chair before running out. At the door, she bumped into her mother and Ronald. Her body shook as tears trimmed down her face.

''Babe, what's wrong?'' Mrs. Kate asked seeing her like that.

''Kris, what happened?'' Ronald also got alarmed.

The heard Ray's scream and rushed inside to find him holding his face and screaming. It could have been his luck, but the water barely greased his face.

''He, he tried to'' Kristine hugged her mother and Ronald sighed frustrated. He went forth to grab Ray's collar and punched him and he fell.

''I was the one who leaked those recordings and pictures. How dare you touch what's mine?'' he was going to land another blow on him when Mrs. Kate stopped him.

''Ronald, don't stain your hands. The police are on their way'' Ronald left him and he fell down weakly on to the floor.

''Kris, I'm sorry'' Ronald went forth to hug her, ''I should have come earlier''

''It's alright, I'm fine'' Kristine managed to say.

''How are you fine? Look at what he did to you'' Ronald looked at the black bruise on her left eye as a result of the hit Ray gave her earlier. He also noticed the cuts on her hands.

''Those are from the glass I used on him earlier on''

''You did well'' Ronald finally relaxed.

Seeing how worried Ronald was about her daughter, Mrs. Kate couldn't help but smile but her smile vanished when she looked at Ray who was still on the floor.
