Chapter 99: When one reason overrides 99 more reasons

Liyah brought out a plate of strawberries to the hall and placed it on the table and sat across August Maijune. August stretched out her hand to pick one and Liyah hit her saying ''go and wash your hands before you, lazy lass''.

August pouted and stood up to go wash her hands. Liyah picked the remote and turned on the TV and they were showing a business documentary about top business groups in D-City.

August returned and picked a strawberry into her mouth as she sat and watched the documentary. Liyah looked at the wall clock saying ''is it not time yet? I thought they would be showing 'Hospital Playlist by now?" August shook her head as she munched on the strawberry.

Liyah was a fanatic when it came to Korean series. She would watch and re-watch and even binge-watched all the series that were currently airing on TV. Her favourite series lately was ''The Hospital Playlist'' a drama about five doctors who had maintained more than 20 years of friendship.

The drama was Liyah's favourite not only because her favourite oppas were in it but also because the drama was a comedic one which always made her laugh her lungs. She had all even attended most of the fan meetings held by her favourite Korean actors and actress. Her current crush idol groups were BST and Mamamoo. Though she couldn't understand the language, she still listened to their songs and would brag about how the songs gave her strength and courage.

Liyah sighed and picked the remote to change the channel when news about Aaron Saint and his grandpa popped up. August immediately snatched the remote saying ''I want to watch that. Is Aaron Saint and grandpa''

Liyah tsk-ed and leaned back on the sofa watching the news with August. The news was about how Saint Group had grown under the leadership of Aaron Saint since he took over the mantle.

August stared dreamily at the screen and Liyah shrugged saying ''wow, you're really beyond saving. Who was it that told me two days ago that she felt Aaron Saint was trying to seduce her? Are you two still sharing the same bed?'' Liyah asked.

August Maijune turned to Liyah and nodded her head ''Aaron Saint still finds it a little difficult to move about at night. I have to be by his side to take care of him''.

Liyah chuckled and looked at August. Indeed, innocence was a novelty these days. Who would believe that August Maijune who was usually smart could be fooled by Aaron Saint for so long? Liyah didn't know whether to cry or laugh at her. Her way of thinking was too innocent.

Which woman in such a situation would not realise she is being taken advantage off? Liyah was really curious to see how they would progress as a couple. It was fun watching them when she wasn't doing anything anyway.

''Big sis, isn't he just handsome? I can't believe I sleep next to that body every night without going crazy'' August asked cutting through Liyah's thoughts. Liyah looked at the TV screen and nodded her head.

''Right. I really wonder why you haven't gone crazy yet, dearest August Maijune?'' Liyah said amusingly.

August turned and looked at Liyah adding ''let me ask you something?''

''What is it? What do you want to know?'' Liyah asked curiously.

''Big sis. Assuming you have 99 reasons why you shouldn't like someone? But then, you also have 1 reason why you can't help but just like that same person. Now, anytime you want to focus on the 99 reasons why you can't like him, it just doesn't feel right and it feels like the 1 reason you have overrides all the 99 reasons''. August said 'what am I even saying?

Liyah looked at August a bit confused. What kind of 99 and 1 reasons was August actually talking about? August looked at the confused stare Liyah was giving her and sighed saying 'your face tells me you don't understand a single thing I just said, right?''

''To be honest, yes. What exactly is this 99 and 1 reasons about? Are you Ariana Grande? Who are you not supposed to like yet you like that person?'' Liyah asked.

''Well, you know him too. Aaron Saint. I mean how does he expect me to still remain sane around him when I feel like I'm been seduced? I'm a woman after all. Which woman will be able to remain calm when she keeps sleeping next to a beautiful man every day? Not only that, a half-naked beautiful man with such great body, nice abs and that v-line just leaves me breathless. I feel like I've become a pervert ever since I started sleeping next to him''. August said in one breathe and heaved.

''So, the 99 and 1 reason is about Aaron Saint? I see'' August nodded feeling relief that Liyah was now understanding her. ''So can you give me one of these 99 reasons why you shouldn't like him?'' Liyah asked and sat crossed legged facing August Maijune.

''He is too handsome. Liking such a man would turn me into a jealous maniac every time because every other woman could become a potential rival.

Secondly, I have nothing to compete and be able to hold my own as compared to the women he meets outside. Thirdly, we live and even share the same bed together and he hasn't attempted doing anything to me. Doesn't that mean he doesn't see me as a woman? And also, ever since I woke up, I feel useless. I don't really have a dream or plans of my own. Is almost like all my life revolves around him. Won't he get bored or even tired of me in no time?'' August said and Liyah nodded before asking again.

''You are right. Actually, your reasons are valid. I think I might even be able to help with the first and fourth reasons but not because I think Aaron might get tired of you or anything but because I understand your feelings perfectly well. As a woman, you need to have something to call your own. It not only boasts your confidence but it also allows you to be able to inspired to grow and see yourself doing more''

''Right!! you really understand me well'' August felt glad that she had someone who supported her.

''Then, what about the 1 reason why you can't help but like him?'' Liyah asked.

''He is too handsome. His face, his body, the way he walks, the way he eats, the way he holds his pen, the way he holds and drinks his coffee. The way he sits and most of all, that thing I mistakenly saw really makes me have weird thoughts lately''

August finished saying and notice Liyah was in a daze. August touched her leg and shook her saying ''big sis, you're not thinking about Leo Martins in this situation, right?''

Liyah looked at her shocked saying ''how did you know that?'' Liyah asked and pursed her lips.

''Big sis, your world is filled with him. You have him as a fiancé and very soon you will get married. Can you stop been greedy and not think about him even in this situation? I am 22 and still single. This is an emergency and we need to address it''.

''I'm sorry, but the moment you started mentioning those features, I could only see Leo in front of me. Now, let's go back to you''. August nodded. ''Now, you just mentioned all the things you find attractive about him. Is there something else besides his looks?''

''That is the problem. His personality. He is so perfect, too perfect. He is caring, considerate, protective and he gives in to me'' August said and shook her head.

''Then you have your answer now. August Maijune, you like Aaron Saint. No, it should be you are in love with him?'' Liyah said.

''Huh? Love…love him? I love him?'' August said questionably and Liyah nodded.

''Not just love, you are practically into him. You see him as a man. A man you would want to sleep with and not just sleep next to in bed''. Liyah said.

''Wow, big sis. I think you're right. I'm really done for. Do you think our relationship will change if I told him about my feelings? Would he find me disgusting?'' August asked worriedly.josei

''No, I think the last person Aaron Saint will find disgusting is August Maijune. He managed to get you to sleep next to him. He doesn't do that to any other woman? You are the only one he allows into his personal space so, he doesn't and won't find you disgusting''. Liyah said to August and cussed herself internally.

Liyah almost spilled the beans about how Aaron Saint likes her but remembered Aaron would kill her if she were to say those things to August. Liyah smiled and looked at August who was seemingly lost in her thoughts. Liyah sighed and hoped that August didn't pick up her meaning easily.

They finished the business documentary and started the drama. Liyah picked the remote and increased the volume turning to find a comfortable position to sit and watch.

August soon felt sleepy and stretched her body fully on the sofa, putting her head on Liyah's laps. Liyah watched her and smiled. She turned towards the television in time as they started her favourite show.
