CHAPTER 156 – Unknown Call

??

She now looked peaceful as she drifted off completely back to sleep.

"Sleep soundly my love, it is all but a dream and nothing more. Be a good girl and I can watch over you from here and prevent any harm from coming to you."

Xander waited for a few more minutes before flying off. His heart clenched when he saw her troubled state. He knew that it was only a matter of time till he could hide the truth from her but who was he to go against fate?

If fate willed it that shew would find out, then so be it. He really yearned to hold her in his arms as he flew into the sky. He knew she would be amazed but that would be after she got over the initial shock of him being a dragon and if she still choose to accept him notwithstanding.

Xander let out a sharp breath and made his way to his own house.

He had given Xyler more than enough freedom to fly at his own will and now the beast was back on the inside.

To him this was also good as he would be less grumpy, giving Xander more thinking time and some peace.

"You okay, buddy?"

"Hmm."

"Now you want to keep me silent?" Xander questioned his dragon in his mind.

"Do not feel like talking to you."

"And why is that?"

"Because…" Xyler did not say anything anymore and just kept mute. Of course Xander could tell what was troubling him, but the naughty old Xander, thought it wise to trouble and tease the naughty dragon.

"Is it because I didn't get some time with her?"

"You know it, so why do you keep asking?" Xyler questioned as well. He was beginning to get irritated byu Xander. Now he was back to his grumpy old self.

"Because you know it wasn't my fault either."

"Then you would have gone inside the normal way and slept by her side. She needs comforting and you need so too."

"I know but perhaps she had so much to do. She needs her rest more. That was why I casted the spell to keep her asleep. It isn't too much to ask for her to want me by herself."

"She already wanted you. You just delayed."

"She needed to have been properly prepared. Besides, what is the rush all about? We can have another time. This time around I would make it more special, okay?"

"Hmm, whatever you say. Al I can say is that I cannot wait until when she knows the secret."

"Not you too."

"What? Lie to me that you have not wished for her to find out several times. I have you forgotten that you and I are indeed one. I am just the consciousness of your dragon self. I am you and you are me, so you cannot hide anything from me Xander."

"Fine. I do want her to know and I wish she was…"

He stopped talking. He did not have the guts to say the abominable words. He could not just state it as his wish out right even if he was talking to his dragon in his mind.

"Your mate?"

"I did not say anything."

"Fine then. It never was said or raised, dragon…"

"That is enough, Xyler," Xander interjected. Both of them remained silent till they got home he focused on getting into bed after his transformation back to his human form.

On the other hand, Arctic had not known that Zale was already tailing him. All he was now focused on was to get who this dragon lord was and by doing that he would know better how to protect Jade from him and help her leave securely.

To him, so long as her father could leave that as a message for her and not just any message a coded one, he knew it must be grave, dire to say the least.

So his top priority became that.

By the time Arctic arrived home after scouting round and following different mafia leaders to get the truth about them as to who the dragon Lord was, he was a bit shocked to find something waiting for him at his door step.

He turned around with his eyes dimmed and scout the area to see if anyone was watching him but found none.

Slowly he leaned down and picked the letter underneath his door before turning the door knob open.

At first he did not enter but stayed at the side with a gun in his hand and waited to see if anyone was inside.

After careful checking, Arctic took a step inside the house. His eyes darted to and fro and when he was sure it was safe, he closed the door behind him then dropped the bag he was holding and looked at the letter.

The careful scrutiny he gave the letter made it seem like he was holding on to a bomb. But by the time he felt okay, he tore it open to bring out the content.

As soon as Arctic open the letter and his gaze landed on the content his eyes widened and he dropped his gun and brought out his phone then dialed a number on the letter.

His eyes became red very quickly as his breathing changed as well. Everything felt like his brain was in shambles. While he waited for the owner of the number to pick the call, a tear slid down his cheek.

Quickly he wiped it and muttered something under his breath and waited still but the person did noit pick the call.

He tried it a second time and it was still the same thing he got.

'Bloody hell, where did these bastards drop the phone at? Come on pick the damn call!'

His mind ached but his brain was still processing what he just read. He dropped his phone on the table in his apartment before rereading the letter.

He had hoped that the content would change but he got the same thing again. Soon enough his phone began to ring.

Ring! Ring!

His head snapped to where the phone was on the table and saw the number.

It was from an unknown number. He did not know whether he should pick the call or not. What if it was all a fake and what if they were just trying to catch him.

At that moment Arctic had begun blaming himself for picking the call at all.

What if it was a roués to get his contact? If he had not called then nothing like this would occur.

After some pondering on the matter, he finally went through with it and answered call. He had already started the processing what would happen or come to play in his mind.

"Hello."

Hearing the male voice, his face change and his anger became more evident.

"Speak. What is the meaning of this?" Arctic did not give them time to say anything and quickly channeled the discussion as to where he wanted it to go.

"I think you already know. It is stated in the letter."

"Are you…"

"I think before you say any threatening words you should consider that her life rest in your hands now."

"Who are you working for/"

"Does it matter? We have something or someone important to you, it is either that person        dies or…"

"Shut the fuck up." Arctic ordered with a loud voice. Even the person on the other end of the phone felt his wrath from just that tone alone. "If any harm comes to her, I would make sure you do not survive this."

'Save the threat Unkillable Killer. I call the shots from here on out," the caller said just to put up a bold front.

"Ypou and I know you are just bluff. How do I know that you are not lying and you have her? Let me talk to her."

'Oh, do you think that I would call the Unkillable killer without having all my stakes out? Tsk, you underestimate me too much. Fine, if it is proof that you want, mi would get it to you."

The man nodded his head to one of the guys standing close to him and they brought out a lady with a black cloth over her head.

He took a few steps forward and placed the phone on speaker, putting it close to her face. "Speak."

"Go to hell."

"I think that is enough for you, right?"

"I want to hear her voice loud and clear and not a fragment of what you are giving to me right now."

"Fine. You heard him, speak up clearly or you are not going to be ransomed. Hahhaa hahhaaa." He burst out laughing. His eyes still remained fixed on the lady but she did not speak. She wasn't planning on letting them use her to catch him or anything.

He waited a little while for her and when she wasn't forthcoming, he gave her a hot slap across her cheek.

POW!
