Chapter 255 War Conclusion .
?
The battlefield fell into silence as Fenrir's wounded body lay weakly on the hard ground.
He struggled to breathe, bearing the weight of multiple injuries. Strangely, his usual power of rapid regeneration was not working.
For some inexplicable reason, the demon lords unleashed a power that seemed to dampen his regenerative abilities.
Initially, his healing process had been merely slowed down, but with the continued influx of this energy entering his body, the situation deteriorated. Now, his ability to heal was even worse than that of an ordinary human.
Despite the best efforts of other supernatural beings, like the dryad, they couldn't mend his wounds.
Thankfully, the demon lords had also been dealt with before he finally succumbed to his wounds, collapsing to the ground on the brink of death.
A turning point came when Erika, Evangeline, and Elizabeth joined the fray. Their presence compelled Xavier to reconsider his allegiance, leading him to switch sides and sacrifice his own life to oppose the demon lords.
Xavier might have held the title of a demon lord, but his strength far surpassed theirs. Combined with the element of surprise, given that he had turned against them at a crucial moment, they only became aware of the attack when it was already too late.
And with Elena's assistance, they succeeded in confining them using an ancient witchcraft. Nevertheless, this temporary triumph was not without its toll. The intense confrontation had drained their strength significantly, leaving them exposed and defenseless.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the angels and humans unleashed their most formidable strategies, solidifying their win definitively. Given their own substantial losses, they were determined to conclude the battle swiftly.
Meanwhile, some of the dark side alliance, faced with the grim reality of their dangerous situation, chose to scatter and retreat, fading into the distance. However, there were those who remained resolute in their loyalty. One such individual was Helios.
His fury had been fueled by witnessing the demon lords' plan to kill of Fenrir. But despite his strength that could rival a demon lord's, he too had been affected by the same mysterious energy that had afflicted his friend. Although his condition was not as dire, he could feel his body weakening.
Now, he stood watch over Fenrir's dying body, a somber expression etched on his face.
Fenrir was now surrounded by his wives and friends.
"Just leave me here... Take Shadowmire with you, "his words trembled, accompanied by a cough that release a spatter of blood from his mouth. Cough
He accepted that he was nearing the end. His life was fading away, and he could feel the inevitability of his imminent death.
Unlike regular humans, someone of his immense power possessed a heightened instinct, and he could sense that his time was running out.
"Let's escaped together," Erika's voice wavered, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Her usual spirited demeanor was replaced by a heart-wrenching sob as she witnessed Fenrir's dying condition.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Evangeline struggled to contain their emotions, their stoic façades failing to hide the deep sadness and grief etched across their faces.
As Fenrir's fading gaze swept across the battlefield, he saw the tragic fate that had befallen those around him.
His wives, friends, and comrades had fallen in this battle. The threads of life were slipping through his grasp as well.
Yet, amidst the despair, a glimmer of solace warmed his heart – most of his wives and friends are still alive. He was confident that they would be able to escaped if they put their efforts into it.
"I'm sorry," he choked out, pain etching his face as he struggled to speak. His body bore the weight of battle, each wound a proof to the fierce battle he had endured.
"Don't fret, my love. This isn't our final farewell. We'll meet again in the future," Elizabeth's voice trembled with emotion as she knelt down, cradling his head in her lap.
The warmth of his blood against her skin served as a sad reminder of the limited time they had left together.
Though she struggled to maintain a façade of strength, tears still welled up in her eyes.
These tears were crimson, a strong indication that this was the most sorrowful moment of their lives. Witnessing Elizabeth's anguish, Erika and Evangeline too shed their own blood-tinged tears, their hearts heavy with the weight of the situation.
"Don't let sorrow consume you. I've lived for countless years happily with everyone. This ending isn't as bad as it seems," Fenrir's voice quivered as he forced a smile.
"Remember, I love you all dearly." His words held a finality, his eyes closing and his heartbeat gradually fading until it ceased altogether.
"Fenrir!" Erika's voice cracked with anguish, her sobs echoing through the air as she clung to his lifeless body. Her broken heart radiated from her like a storm, touching everyone around her.
From a far.
"AWOOOOOOOO" Lowell and the remaining werewolves, usually fierce and strong, let out mournful howls that resonated with the weight of their collective sorrow.
Their cries seemed to carry the pain of the entire moment, a chorus of grief that filled the air and melded with Erika's cries.
In that moment, the battlefield was united in shared sadness, an acknowledgment of the painful loss they had endured.
Sadly, their foes didn't allow them the time to mourn a bit longer.
"The Moonlight Overlord is dead! Let's bring an end to this war!" The rallying cry of a high-ranking angel pierced the heavy atmosphere, seizing the opportunity to motivate their side in the wake of Fenrir's passing.
"Stop their advance! We must protect our queens!"
The remaining loyal vampires and other supernaturals pushed themselves to their limits, determined to halt the advancing enemy. If they were to fall, they would fall fighting with all their might.
BOOOOOM!
Explosions filled the air once more as the dark side launched a final desperate attempt.
"Erika, we must remain strong for him," Elizabeth comforted her little sister .She understood that their survival was imperative for their plan to succeed.
She could see the devastation on Erika's face, but they had no time to mourn.
"Elena, take the demon lords' orb and seal them away. We need their powers to conceal the fragments' presence from fate," Elizabeth instructed, her voice laced with urgency.
"Don't worry, I've already taken care of them," Elena assured with a nod.
"How can we escape?" Evangeline inquired.
"We can use this to get out of here," Elena retrieved a white talisman that had some weird black characters on it akin to Chinese letters.
"What is it?" Elizabeth asked, sensing a subtle change in the air around the talisman, thanks to her proximity.
"A dear friend gave it to me. It's a teleportation talisman" Elena replied, her tone suggesting its importance.
"Why didn't you use that earlier? We could have escaped with Fenrir earlier!" Erika's voice carried frustration.
"Erika, we mustn't let our emotions cloud our judgment. Our focus should be on following the plan," Elizabeth reminded her, her own frustration evident. But she knew that arguing wasn't the solution in their current situation.
It was true that while Elena could have used it earlier to escape, Fenrir's death was crucial in evading Fate's pursuit.
"Quick, form an ice dome around us," Elizabeth's voice carried urgency, prompting Erika to act without delay.
Erika reluctantly complied, weaving her magic into a solid dome of ice that concealed them from prying eyes.
"The medallion has absorbed his soul," Elena reminded Elizabeth.
Then a medallion emerged from Fenrir's chest. Elizabeth took it along with Shadowmire.
"Retreat!" Elizabeth's use his power to relay the message . The command echoed across the battlefield, and everyone obeyed.
With Vladimir and Xavier's demise, Elizabeth had assumed authority over the dark side. The word spread, and the forces dispersed.
"Let's leave this place," Elena activated the talisman, creating a rift.
"Wait, are we leaving his body behind?" Erika's become more frustrated .
"We can't take him. It could arouse suspicion. We must follow the plan," Evangeline reasoned.
"I…" Erika's voice trailed off, her inner turmoil evident in her expression.
She grasped the reasons behind Elizabeth and Evangeline's choices, but the sight of Fenrir's lifeless body left behind was a heavy weight on her heart. The thought of facing an eternity without him was daunting.
Despite understanding their long-term plan, the idea of carrying the memory of Fenrir's death for countless years felt like an unbearable burden. The prospect seemed more agonizing than being frozen in ice for eternity.
"We need to stay strong for him," Elizabeth's reminder snapped Erika back to the present.
"I'll trust you both,"
With a heavy weight in their hearts, they left Fenrir's lifeless body behind on the battlefield, taking a brave step forward on the path they had committed to.

Underground Cave
"Shadowmire, I need you to stay here and wait for Fenrir," Elizabeth's frail voice resonated in the Divine Armament consciousness as she carried it to an underground lake beneath.
Looking at her closely, Elizabeth's face seemed paler, her body also noticeably thinner.
[Wait... Father] Shadowmire only responded with two words.
"That's right, wait for your father . This place is extraordinary. The water here brims with vitality. If you can absorb its essence, you'll grow stronger and be able to protect your father in the future," Elizabeth forced a faint smile.
[Protect... Father]
Shadowmire voice echoed, conveying its understanding.
"I hope to see you again someday," Elizabeth gently placed it into the water. and bid her farewell, her steps faltering as she moved away.
Emerging from the water, Shadowmire watched Elizabeth's fading figure.
It was clear that its father's wife was very weak right now – her energy was almost undetectable.
