Chapter 94 Deal With The Devil
Chapter 94 Deal With The Devil
?
Inside the bar, the air was thick with the scent of whiskey and brandy. The atmosphere was dimly lit, except for the stage where a handsome man with features that could humble any mortal was playing a grand piano. His eyes were dark as the void, and his hair was a deep black that looked like it was filled with darkness. The melody he played was enchanting, and it filled the room with a certain charm.
Despite the emptiness of the bar due to the late hour, the man continued to play the piano as if he was performing in front of a packed audience. His fingers danced across the keys with an effortless grace, as if the instrument was an extension of his being.
But suddenly, his playing was interrupted by the sound of a wheelchair.
"I did not expect you to come here, Evangeline," the man spoke with a British accent, without even turning to look.
"Can't I visit an old friend?" Evangeline replied, gesturing for her assistant to push her closer.
The man's eyes sparkled mischievously as he turned to face them.
"And who is this beautiful lady?" He held Evangeline's assistant hand and kissed it as an act of courtesy.
"My name is Isabella," she replied with a low voice, still stunned by the man's charm.
"My name is Lucifer," he smiled, revealing a set of perfect teeth. "Lucifer Lightbringer."
"Like the devil?" Isabella exclaimed.
"Exactly!" he grinned, and for a moment, his eyes turned a fiery red that seemed to light up the room.
Isabella could hardly believe it. She had always thought that Lucifer was just a myth, a story told to scare people not commit crimes or they would be judged in hell. But here he was, in the flesh, standing before her and introducing himself as the devil.
Lucifer chuckled at Isabella's reaction.
"Don't worry, my dear. I'm not here to harm anyone. I'm just here to enjoy the music and what the world can offer."
"Cut the act, Lucifer. You know why we're here." Evangeline rolled her eyes.
Lucifer's smiles grow wider.
"Ah, yes. The government's new initiative to capture more supernaturals. It's causing quite a stir, isn't it?"
"We need your help to slow it down," Evangeline pleaded, desperation in her voice. Lucifer was one of the few individuals who could possibly postpone the prophecy that she had foreseen.
Lucifer's eyes flickered with interest as he took a sip from his glass of red wine. He leaned back against the piano, his charming smile reappearing on his handsome face.
"Interesting. And what's in it for me?" he inquired, crossing his arms over his chest.
Evangeline paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts.
" I can offer you anything you desire. Wealth, power, influence. Name your price and it shall be yours."
"You just stole my line, " Lucifer chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. He knew that Evangeline was messing with him.
"And I already have all those things, my dear Evangeline. But I am curious. What could be so important that you would seek out the Devil himself?"
"The fate of the supernatural world hangs in the balance," Evangeline replied solemnly. "If the prophecy comes to pass, it could mean the end of everything we know."
Lucifer's eyes narrowed as he considered Evangeline's request. He knew that something big must be happening for her to come to him for help. But as she spoke of balance, he couldn't help but let out a low laugh.
"What balance?" Lucifer's lips curled into a wicked grin. "Did you forget the sins that you and your sister committed?"
Evangeline's expression fell, as if the memories of their past misdeeds weighed heavily on her shoulders.
Lucifer continued, his voice low and teasing.
"I may be the devil to most, but you and your big sister take the crown for being the most wicked. I should probably nominate you two to become the new king of hell?" he mused, taking a sip of his wine.
Evangeline gritted her teeth, but she needed to endure it.
"But tell me, Evangeline, what makes you think that I would help you after all the sins you have done?"
Her fingers clenched tightly on the armrests of her wheelchair; her eyes locked onto Lucifer's as she leaned forward.
"This is not just about us supernaturals, Lucifer. It's about all living creatures in the world. Every single one of us is at risk, and we need your help to stop it."
"And why should I care about them?" Lucifer raised an eyebrow.
"Because you know what will happen if we don't stop it." Evangeline's voice carried a hint of desperation as she spoke.
A mischievous grin spread across Lucifer's face, he finally fit the pieces together.
"Your beloved Fenrir will die again?" he taunted, chuckling darkly.
Evangeline was stunned. She had underestimated Lucifer's deductive ability.
"Don't lie to me, Evangeline. We both know that you're just using this reason to amass an army," he said, his voice laced with amusement.
"I am not lying. This is a serious matter." Evangeline's lips thinned.
"Serious enough to make you come crawling to me for help? That's quite a desperate move, my dear." Lucifer chuckled.
She had always known that Lucifer was difficult to convince, but she had not expected him to be so dismissive.
"I'm willing to sign a soul contract with you." her heart sank as she considered the gravity of her offer. A soul contract was not something to be taken lightly; it was a binding agreement that could cost her dearly in the end. But the situation was dire, and she had no other choice.
Lucifer's eyes gleamed with amusement at the mention of the contract.
"Oh, an Original Soul? How generous of you. I must say, Evangeline, you always did know how to strike a bargain." He took a sip of his wine and savored the taste.
"I will give you what you want, but only after I succeed. And I expect your full cooperation in this matter." Evangeline's face hardened.
"Very well, I will help you. Not because I care about that stupid love of yours, mind you, but because I find the prospect of causing trouble for my father quite amusing."
