He Chen got out of the shower and realized that her phone was ringing non-stop.

She glanced at it and saw messages from the “The Realm of Gods” group.

When the head photographer wasn’t around, she helped with the shoot for two days, so Director Lin added her into one of the groups.

Everyone was congratulating Film Emperor Qin for finishing the project.

He Chen looked through the messages. She clicked on Film Emperor Qin’s profile picture and stared at it until she almost fell asleep.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Madam Qu was calling her.

He Chen was awoken by the call. She picked it up and answered, “Hey.”

After divorcing Qu Zixiao, she had stopped addressing Madam Qu as “Mom”.

“He Chen,” Madam Qu said excitedly. “I heard that you’re back. When are you coming over to the capital? Let’s meet up, I want to link you with the young man from the Zhou family.”

He Chen rejected nonchalantly.

“It’s alright, you two can add each other on WeChat and know each other first.” Madam Qu compromised. “He’s a fine lad. So much better than Zixiao.”

After ending the call, she sent a WeChat contact to He Chen and asked her to add him immediately.

He Chen dried her hair as she looked at the name. After she was done, the person didn’t accept her request and she breathed a sigh of relief.

But it was reasonable. Madam Qu had high standards, but no family would want a divorcee.

This was especially since Madam Qu increased her standards especially for He Chen.

Just as she was about to turn off her phone, Li Yushan sent her a message.

[Sister Chen, Chairman Jiang was transferred. There’s a new boss! You should come back! The new guy isn’t happy with you!]

He Chen replied—

[A few more days.]

Madam Qu hung up the phone and sat down on the sofa.

Qu Zixiao was seated opposite her and stared at her silently.

The entire family was affected by their divorce.

He didn’t pay much attention to He Chen ever since he came back. But, as he heard their conversation, he asked, “She only returned today?”

How was it possible for a publishing house to allow their staff to be away for so long?

“How does it concern you, anyway?” Madam Qu asked angrily.

Qu Zixiao fell silent. He didn’t expect his mother to dote on He Chen to this extent. “I’ve heard from the butler that you’re heading to Yang City tomorrow?”

Madam Qu didn’t answer. She took a look at him and asked, “If you didn’t like He Chen, why did you agree to marry her?”

She couldn’t understand. She had thought that for them to agree to the marriage, they would have liked each other.

The two of them were even in shock when they first met.

Madam Qu thought that things would develop, and she didn’t stop it from happening.

But who knew that nothing happened since the marriage.

When he heard this, Qu Zixiao tried to steer the conversation away. “Mom, I’m heading to the study room.”

Madam Qu was close to using a cup to hit him as he left.

“Madam, I’ll be heading off now,” Qu Zixiao’s secretary said.

The secretary broke out in a cold sweat after exiting the Qu family’s gate.

As he drove, he looked back at the Qu family home.

He knew everything that happened. When Qu Zixiao knew that he was going to get married, he wasn’t willing initially. But he changed his mind after he saw He Chen. They didn’t even add each other on social media. In fact, he only knew her name during the contract signing.

Madam Qu wasn’t aware, but the secretary knew everything.

The two of them upheld the agreement for so many years of marriage. Qu Zixiao didn’t bother understanding He Chen or the He family. He Chen’s name and family weren’t important to him.

The most important thing to him was that she looked similar to Miss Ouyang.

It was just that Song Qingqing looked even more similar to Miss Ouyang. She was similar in her personality, looks, and major.

Who could fully understand the complexity of such families? The secretary shook his head as he thought.

...

He Chen stayed for two days. As Grandma He was there, Father He didn’t dare to find fault with her.

On the third day, she was done packing and was heading to the capital for her work.

She carried her camera to the publishing house. The workers there were used to her period of disappearance. It wasn’t the first time they saw He Chen arrive in a luxury car.

The big boss of the publishing house turned a blind eye to her as well.

The new staff in the office would be impressed with her abilities as she could get news from the tightest source.

Her highest accomplishment was that she managed to sneak into the secret apprenticeship banquet that was held in the capital. She even managed to get a couple of photos of the big bosses and get them published.

They could never match up to her.

It seemed that there was nothing Sister Chen couldn’t do.

However, the office was silent when He Chen arrived.

“Sister Chen...” Li Yushan greeted her when she arrived.

Before she was done, a huge figure emerged from the office and said, “He Chen, come to my office.”

Two minutes later.

He Chen entered the office and greeted. “Chairman Zhou.”

Chairman Zhou lifted his head and looked at her. He had a domineering aura around him. He didn’t say much as he gave He Chen a folder and said, “You’re in charge of the interview for this rising star in the finance industry.”

He Chen agreed to the task and asked, “Is there anything else?”

“Nothing, you may leave,” Chairman Zhou said nonchalantly.

Only after she left did Chairman Zhou’s assistant spoke. “I’ve heard that she was here because of the Qu family. But this interview is going to be hard. We have sent five reporters, and they all failed.”

“I wish to understand how New Media could be so tolerant with their employee,” Chairman Zhou said coldly.

...

In the afternoon.

In Guan Chi’s office.

Qu Zixiao was discussing with Guan Chi about some collaboration. Guan Chi was a proud person and had the ability to back it up.

Qu Zixiao packed up his stuff and said, “Chairman Guan, let’s discuss this further.”

Guan Chi looked at him and answered, “Alright.”

As the two of them wrapped up their conversation, the staff entered and said, “Chairman Guan, the report from New Media is here.”

Guan Chi said, “No...”

“It’s Miss He,” the staff continued.

Guan Chi lifted his head immediately.

Qu Zixiao saw everything. Guan Chi never wore his emotions on his sleeves. It was the first time he saw such a drastic reaction from him.

However, Qu Zixiao wasn’t interested in meddling in other people’s business. Hence, he packed up and left.

Just as he stepped out of the office, he saw Guan Chi’s first secretary leading a person carrying a camera into the office.

Qu Zixiao never saw the secretary being so respectful to someone other than Guan Chi.

He turned to look at the person the secretary was leading.

Tall with a nonchalant expression, she was wearing a floral dress. She didn’t have any makeup on, but her skin glowed, and she stood out even though she was just casually following the secretary.

Qu Zixiao lost his mind after he saw her.

This was nothing like how he remembered her. It was He Chen.

She didn’t see him, but she followed the secretary into the office, then the office door was shut.

Qu Zixiao looked away. When he was back from Continent M, he gave more resources to Song Qingqing and removed He Chen from his heart. Hence, he didn’t expect to meet her again.

“Chairman Qu?” The staff reminded him.

Qu Zixiao paid attention to his files and followed the staff to the lift. He then asked casually, “Who was it just now?”

Guan Chi wasn’t someone that would accept an interview easily.

“Only the first secretary would know,” the staff answered politely.

Qu Zixiao stopped asking.

...

In the Guan Chi’s office.

He Chen was done with the interview and was taking two more photos. She then continued, “Don’t worry. I won’t write anything that is against you. I’ll send it to you for vetting before I publish it.”

“Do you want to grab dinner later?” Guan Chi didn’t pay much attention to what she wrote. He got up immediately and invited her out for dinner.

He Chen packed her camera, shook her head, and replied, “It’s alright, I’m heading back to write this story.”

Guan Chi looked at her and wanted to say something. But he didn’t. He continued, “Let me send you off, then.”

He Chen replied, “It’s alright.”

Guan Chi didn’t care about her opinion and opened the door for her.

He then sent He Chen all the way down. As He Chen left, she waved goodbye to him.

However, Guan Chi grabbed her wrist. He stared down at her and asked, “He Chen, how long are you going to trap yourself?”

He Chen’s smile disappeared as she replied, “Guan Chi, you’re pushing things too far.”

Guan Chi relented and let her disappear into the crowd.

“Chairman Guan.” The first secretary spoke.

However, Guan Chi stood still in place.

He started to have a flashback.

He was in the same class as He Chen from primary school to high school. Not only was she beautiful, but she was also the school tyrant. She was the talk of the town no matter which school she was in. She would get almost everyone’s approval to be the class president, except her own.

During that period, Guan Chi was handsome and was starting to show his abilities.

Both the He and Guan families thought that they were the best match for each other.

But Guan Chi knew that He Chen never liked him.

He was a wild lad. He would be goofing around with others when she was on duty. No one in the class dared to control him. There was once when she had enough of him. She knocked on his table with a stick and demanded. “Get out.”

...

He Chen walked among the crowd as she looked for spare change to take public transport. Suddenly, a black truck stopped next to her.

The car window winded down.

Chen Yu was in the backseat, waving to her. He said, “Miss He, where are you heading?”

In a matter of minutes, He Chen was in Qin Xiuchen’s car.

Qin Xiuchen was resting, and he leaned against the window.

When He Chen got in the car, he moved slightly as if he heard a sound and removed his eye mask. When he saw that it was He Chen, he sat up and nodded towards her.

“Film Emperor Qin.” He Chen greeted.

She didn’t sit next to him and went to sit next to Chen Yu instead.

Chen Yu was surprised and offered his help. “Big boss, let me help you with your camera.”

“It’s alright.”

“Alright, then,” Chen Yu replied.

Chen Yu brought He Chen to her area. When she entered New Media, Chen Yu turned towards Qin Xiuchen and said, “Film Emperor Qin, Miss He had mentioned that her work passed the judging criteria in the photography exhibition. Are you aware that she invited me?”

Qin Xiuchen leaned against the window and answered nonchalantly, “I’m aware.”

Chen Yu looked at him, surprised that he wasn’t invited.

But he didn’t dare to voice out his opinion.

Something felt off.

...

He Chen arrived home.

Just as she was about to open the door, she stopped and took a step back.

The door was suddenly opened.

A man wearing big spectacles opened the door and looked at her smilingly. He then said, “Madam has been waiting for you.”

He Chen frowned as she carried her camera in.

She saw a lady wearing business attire sitting next to the window with her back facing her.

The lady noticed her and turned around with her arms crossed.

“Sister, why are you back?” He Chen asked as she lowered her camera on the table.

He Jinxin smiled and answered, “Did you head out for work after you heard when I was coming back?”

“Why would I do that?” He Chen replied nonchalantly.

He Jinxin didn’t want to expose her but signaled to the secretary. He took out a box and said, “Second Lady, Madam got this for you.”

“What is it?” He Chen asked as she took over the box.

The secretary replied smilingly, “You’ll know when you open it.”

He Chen opened the box. It was a Ferrari car key.

She was startled and was about to protest when He Jinxin stopped her by saying, “Keep it, I bought it using my money. I didn’t use their money.”

“Their” referred to Father and Mother He.

“How could you be so rich? Are you taking bribes?” He Chen asked as she thought of ways to help her cover-up.

He Jinxin continued to smile, but she started to look at He Chen coldly.

“Ah... I was only joking,” He Chen said. She opened the fridge to get a drink for the both of them, but it only had beers.

The room fell silent.

He Jinxin’s secretary had to stop himself from laughing.

He Chen closed the fridge in silence.

He Jinxin sighed and continued, “Let’s head back for a meal.”

Everyone in the He Family was excited about He Jinxin’s return. Even their neighbors came over after hearing that the He family’s capable daughter had returned.

They could only see He Jinxin on the television.

Father He’s face lit up when he talked to He Jinxin and straightened his back when he was about to entertain the neighbors. Grandma He also held He Jinxin’s hand and smiled as she spoke to her.

Even the helpers were happy. This celebratory mood felt like it was the new year.

Meanwhile, He Chen barely had any presence. She sat alone on the sofa and talked to Chang Ning.
