Chapter 76: Cultivating Love: A Feast of Love, Mu Lin and Yang Wei's Lunchtime Romance. The Unexpected Guest Arrives.
Yang Wei was resting on the bed, and Mu Lin, fast asleep, had her arm wrapped around his.
She lay with her head resting on his chest, smiling all satisfied.
Meanwhile, Yang Wei just stared at the ceiling, lost in some serious thoughts.
Lin'er is already in the mid-stage of Spirit Master, so with some solid effort, she should break through to the Core Formation Realm in a few years. As for me, I'm on the third fold of the 7th level of Mortal Realm. There's a clear difference in my Mortal King stage compared to other cultivators. Mine comes in folds.
Mortal King spans from the 7th to 9th levels, but what sets mine apart is that each level has three folds, representing how much I've strengthened my spiritual garden.
He sighed a bit, glancing at Mu Lin, who grumbled in her sleep, "Don't shake so much, Wei, I'm so tired~" She snored gently, like a sweet little angel. Yang Wei smiled, running his fingers through her hair as he kept on analyzing.
The first three folds for the 7th level are about fortifying my spiritual garden's soil. I was already at the 1st fold after being struck by lightning, but thanks to pair cultivating with Lin'er, my spiritual soil is now at the 3rd fold. Moving to the 8th level, the folds focus solely on crystalizing my spiritual stream, basically refining my Spiritual Domain...
However, I don't have any insights on what the final three folds for the 9th level are. I'll take a guess and say it happens either through serendipity or after cultivating the six folds.
Yang Wei stretched his arms out and yawned tiredly.
"So tired," he said. "I should sleep a bit."
His eyes shut, and he drifted off to sleep.
...
After a good long nap, Yang Wei blinked open his eyes and noticed Mu Lin was nowhere to be seen. "Hm, she must've headed back to her room or something," he muttered, rising from the bed and scratching his eyes. "I really need to eat something."
Surveying the room, he realized it was cleaner and smelled fresher. His gaze fell on the silk sheets, and he ran his hand over the spot where Mu Lin's blood had stained them, a smile crossing his face. "Hm?" Yang Wei uttered, rubbing his chin. "Come to think of it, I've been unconscious for over a month, and I don't even know where I am exactly."
Just as the thought crossed his mind, the door swung open, revealing Mu Lin holding a wooden lunchbox. She smiled, saying, "Oh, you're finally awake."
Yang Wei nodded once, replying, "Mhm."
Mu Lin extended the lunchbox, shoulders raised and head tilted, showcasing her pearly white teeth. "I brought you something to eat," she announced.
Yang Wei grinned, teasing, "If you keep treating me like this, I might just want to marry you on the spot."
Frowning a bit, Mu Lin cautioned, "Focus on getting better first."
Yang Wei cocked his head, looking confused. "But I'm feeling better already," he insisted, throwing out a fist. "In fact, I want to practice a bit of the things I've gained so far since getting hit by that tribulation cloud."
Mu Lin remained silent, holding down the wooden lunchbox, her brown eyes fixed on him. She didn't look sad or angry, but if one had to assume, she seemed just a tad melancholic.
"Alright," Yang Wei sighed. "I'll eat."
And his words immediately made her smile again.
Mu Lin chuckled, her eyes softly closed as she held chopsticks near her chin. "I can't believe there's actually a Young Master who fought you because of me," she mused, laughing a bit more before taking a sip of tea. She proudly cleared her throat as she raised her shoulders and said, "Well, I'm not really that surprised. A lot of men would die to have me in their bed."
"Are you done praising yourself?" Yang Wei gave her a half-eyed stare, obviously underwhelmed.
Laughing just a little more, Mu Lin asked, "What did you say his name was again?"
Yang Wei replied, "Jin Tianyu. He's the—"
Mu Lin interrupted, "He's the previous heir of the Azure Lotus Sect, right?"
Yang Wei nodded, impressed. "You know your stuff," he remarked.
Mu Lin grinned, "My reward?" She opened her mouth, and Yang Wei tossed a shrimp to her. She caught it whole, and they both exclaimed, "Perfect score!" They sealed the moment with a high-five. What followed after, was a small chuckle from both of them—they laughed out her child-like they could act around themselves but not other people.
Using chopsticks, Mu Lin peeled off a thick piece of the roasted fish she had prepared. She dipped it into a small sauce and fed it to Yang Wei. Happily watching him chew his food, she asked, "Could you tell me the story of you and the Yuan Po guy again?" she gave him a small feline stare.
"I'm still skeptical about you, who was at the 4th level of the Mortal Realm at the time, defeating a senior disciple with an ancient technique of their clan, so I'll just take it with a grain of salt."
Yang Wei chewed once more and swallowed heavily, responding, "What? You don't believe me? I'm pretty strong; you just don't know it."
Mu Lin placed a hand over her rosy lips, saying, "Sure, I'll believe you this once... although I'll agree that you do have the potential to become very strong in the future."
"How sweet..." he said with a dry voice, waiting for the punchline.
Both eyebrows raised, Mu Lin asked him, "What? Did you really expect me to say something degrading after that..." she placed a hand on her chest and sighed dramatically. "I would never do that to my sweet Wei."
"Of course," Yang Wei replied. "You're so sincere after all."
"Hey!" Mu Lin playfully shoved him in the side. "I am~"
"Occasionally," he said casually as he watched Mu Lin tearing off another piece of roasted fish with her chopsticks.
Mu Lin brushed her hair back a bit and threw him a sidelong glance, asking, "Is there a problem?"
Yang Wei shook his head, saying, "No." He smiled, "not at all."
Mu Lin's attention shifted from the fish to Yang Wei. Slowly, her face inched toward his, and it seemed like they were on the brink of a kiss. But just as their lips were about to meet, the door swung open abruptly. Startled, they both turned to see who it was.
Mu Lingxi.
She was dressed in her usual black and golden martial artist robes.
Mu Lin and Yang Wei exchanged surprised glances.
"Sister?"
"Lingxi?"
