Chapter 80: Morning Surprises, Yang Wei's Unexpected Gifts. Mu Sisters' Love Strategy; Showering Yang Wei with Affection.
On a fresh, new morning, Yang Wei emerged from his house, stretching his arms and letting out a yawn. "What a stressful day," he mumbled. "Those Green Sanctuary Peak disciples just wouldn't let me rest... they kept bombarding me with questions on how to improve their cultivation," he complained while disappointedly shaking his head.
"I barely know anything about their cultivation technique, and they still want tips," he groaned.
As Yang Wei scratched his ruffled hair, his eyes opened to find Wu Fengtian in the courtyard, holding a small pouch.
"Good morning, Senior Brother Yang!" Wu Fengtian greeted with enthusiasm.
Yang Wei only acknowledged his greetings with a small nod. Then, he pointed at the pouch, asking, "What's that in your hands?"
Wu Fengtian grinned and flashed the pouch, teasingly dangling it before Yang Wei. "You mean this?" he playfully asked.
Tiredly acknowledging the pouch, Yang Wei nodded and said, "Yeah, that."
Wu Fengtian opened the pouch, releasing an overflow of gifts into the courtyard. It was like there was no end—so many gifts scattered in the courtyard that even if ten went missing, they wouldn't notice.
"All these resources are from the Mu clan?!" Yang Wei marveled.
Wu Fengtian clarified, "No, some are from the Chiefs and disciples of the Green Sanctuary Peak and the Inkflow Spire. They want to thank you for all your help."
"Help?"
"The cultivation tips you've been giving out improved their Dragon Vein Cultivation and Spirit-refinement. You've made a significant impact."
Yang Wei, still trying to grasp it, rubbed his chin and nodded slowly, as if understanding only a bit of what Wu Fengtian said.
I helped them mainly because I was picking up a bit on the cultivation techniques of the other Peaks. Well, that, and because I've been a little bored lately and haven't gotten back into my cultivation groove yet.
Nevertheless, he would accept their praises.
Yang Wei hurriedly descended from the veranda, making his way to the other courtyard to get a closer look at the abundant resources. Boxes, sacks, and bundles filled with items were spread around.
"So, the Senior who handed these to me for delivery mentioned that the Mu clan and the Second Matriarch want you to use these to gear up for the journey to the Sacred Immortal Lands."
Wu Fengtian explained it as briefly as the person who gave him the storage pouch did.
"Sacred Immortal Lands? What's that?" Yang Wei inquired.
Wu Fengtian replied, "I'll explain later. Come and see this." He picked up a black box, unlocking it and revealing its contents to Yang Wei. "Some of the gifts are top-grade medicinal items, and this one is pretty much the cream of the crop!"
Yang Wei peered into the box, eyes widening at the sight of a fat, red, glowing seed with a thorny body.
In an instant, Yang Wei's drowsy eyes vanished, and he exclaimed, "I've seen this in medicinal manuals! It's the Dragonfire Spirit Seed!"
"Yes," Wu Fengtian nodded briefly. "It's a gift from Lady Guo Xiaomei, Chief of the Green Sanctuary Peak."
"I see."
Seeing that such an information didn't get Yang Wei excited, he then added, "And guess what?"
Intrigued, Yang Wei urged, "Tell me!"
"It's over 300 years old!"
Yang Wei grinned, grabbing the box from Wu Fengtian, "This is great! If it's that old, the fire spiritual Qi's potency must be high enough to cultivate my fire spirit root to at least Core Formation Realm." He closed the box, placing it on the veranda, signifying his special interest in the item.
Yang Wei dashed past Wu Fengtian, eagerly exploring the array of baskets and boxes laid out.
Opening one after another, he enthusiastically called out the names of intriguing medicinal items.
"Crimson Sunstone!"
"Divine Thunder Vine!"
"Phoenix Wing Fern!"
"Dragon Scale Fungus!"
"Timeless Sage Root!!"
Naturally, the Green Sanctuary Peak has easy access to a bunch of high-grade medicinal items, but the fact that they'd hand him so many was enough to make Yang Wei die happy.
Intrigued by Yang Wei's excitement, Wu Fengtian joined in, unleashing his own knowledge of medicinal items, proving to be a more adept Apothecary specialist than Yang Wei.
"Senior Brother, I can see some Astral Jade Bamboo!"
"Feng! Feng! Come over here, there's also Spiritual Flame Lotus!"
Meanwhile, at the gate, a Clan Elder with long white beards, dressed in the black and golden attire of the Mu clan, stood with a paper in hand, overseeing the influx of gifts into the courtyard. "Alright, bring in the rest of the items," he announced.
Men carried in more boxes.
The Clan Elder read out some of the names.
"Sovereign Qi Core."
"Qi-Convergence Pill."
"Harmony Root."
More and more gifts came.
Yang Wei, astonished, exclaimed, "Are they really bringing even more gifts?"
Wu Fengtian, equally surprised, insisted, "This is impossible! Even a Core Disciple hasn't gotten this much to work with at once!" Concerned to the point of madness, Wu Fengtian grabbed Yang Wei by the collar, demanding, "Tell the truth! Did you court a woman from the Mu clan, or are you the illegitimate son of Chief Mu?!"
Yang Wei shook his head slowly, replying, "If I were, I'm quite sure I'd know."
Another Clan Elder approached nervously, tapping Yang Wei on the shoulder, seemingly scared to address him directly. "Uh, Yang Wei..."
Yang Wei turned abruptly, causing Wu Fengtian's hands to release his collar.
The Clan Elder, shaky but composed, finally spoke up, "Come, come see this..."
"See what?"
The Clan Elder set out a black and golden box before Yang Wei. "O-open it..."
Yang Wei, looking confused, said, "Okay?"
It bothered him why the Clan Elder couldn't just open it himself.
But the truth was, he was too scared to budge, so the best move was to play the role of a human table and keep holding it for Yang Wei. He already felt like he had ticked off Yang Wei simply by talking.
Yang Wei opened the box, and Wu Fengtian peeked over his shoulders.
"Wow," both exclaimed at the sight.
The Clan Elder forced himself to speak, albeit slowly. "This is the Heavenly Phoenix Feather Robes, a custom-made Inner Sect attire for you, our revered Star Disciple."
...
Meanwhile, Mu Lingxi, seated on a dragon sword in mid-air from afar, smiled as she observed Yang Wei receiving the gifts. She boasted, "Yang Wei must be gushing about the robes I got him. I requested only the finest materials."
...
At the same time, in Mu Lin's house, she and Yun Feiyan enjoyed hot tea.
"You seem quite happy today, Young Miss," Yun Feiyan mentioned.
"Am I?" she kept smiling.
Yun Feiyan nodded gently, "Indeed. Would you mind telling me? So that I may share in this joy of yours."
Mu Lin giggled, proudly holding out a finger, "I'm just happy because right about now, Yang Wei is receiving thirty different types of medicinal herbs I got him and a special Dimensional Osmanthus Seed."
"Oh? And isn't that a bit extravagant?"
Mu Lin, blushing, placed both her hands on her cheeks and said, "Nothing's too much for my sweet Wei."
...
In the Mu clan main hall, Mu Zhihao, seated and panting heavily, watched as the clan's Master of Calculations tallied expenses. Concerned, he exclaimed, "Don't tell me both my daughters are infatuated with that Yang Wei!"
Sweat rolled down his exhausted face.
