Chapter 385 - Judgment
Chapter 385 - Judgment
'This is hopeless… Perhaps, I can't even kill myself if I wanted to…'
The commander said to himself as he steadied his breathing. He looked at the young man's face but due to the sunlight, there is a shadow on the person's face and it is stopping him from recognizing the man…
Nevertheless, he did his best to sit up straight before answering the man's question.
"I heard from the leaders that the aliens were looking for several things right now… But their top priority was searching for the mastermind of those ambushes in outer space!"
The commander explained hastily.
"Ugh… Spare me, young man… I'm just an ordinary soldier following the orders of the commanders. If their orders offended you, there's nothing I can do about it… I also do not want to follow them in many cases. However, I have to save myself…"
As Wallace was pondering for a moment, the commander continued persuading him to let him off.
The young man was actually impressed by this person's shamelessness. He could really make a lot of good stories just to try to save himself from his current predicament. It appears that he's even willing to sell his country just to save his life.
"Shut up! Just answer my questions with everything you know... Your life will depend on your answers. You don't have to convince me."
"Yes! I understand! Do not worry… I won't lie to you… I'm not good at lying."
"Tsk… Tell me what your leaders did about that… Did they foolishly gave information about him?" Wallace asked the man. This time, the commander did not feel his threatening gaze.
However, he felt even more nervous about this.
'Of course! They gave everything they know about that Wallace that is currently somewhere on the Moon!' The commander thought of answering like this.
But it feels like the man in front of him wouldn't like such an answer and he might just cut his other arm in anger. So he decided to tone it down a bit.
"I heard that they have no choice but to reveal the truth. I heard our leader's conversation that they have to provide information about him to complete their deal. They gave information about Wallace but at least, these details weren't hard to discover if they made simple research. After all, everyone in the continent knows about his name, about the Moon Base he created, his creation of spaceships, his factory at one mountain in Zairus, including the members of his family, and about his relationship with a Grand Arcanist… I'm sure that they can get this information even if our leaders didn't tell it first."
The commander answered and his tone sounded like there was nothing wrong with their actions.
'You guys are hopeless…' Wallace thought as he shakes his head in disappointment.
Of course, he knows that he's unable to remain anonymous considering the Empire's information gathering abilities.
However, the fact that Seiji Alliance willingly revealed information about him pissed him off… The commander was even trying to justify their actions with lies.
He wouldn't even be surprised if they actually offered this information at the start of their negotiation. After all, they saw how Ace caused some problems to the aliens at the battle in outer space. Their council of war was definitely aware that the aliens wanted to get vengeance for his actions…
Wallace only smirked at the man's answer and decided to get more information.
"What are the other things they wanted here?" He asked.
"Right… They were searching for three more things… Y-you're lucky… I know all of this information since one of the council is my father… So he told me everything and---"
Bam!
The floor beside him was suddenly hit by a bolt of lightning out of nowhere. He didn't see how the man did it but it's enough to say that he'll be hit by that if he tried buying more time.
"Just answer my question!" Wallace was starting to lose his patience with this man.
"Y-yes! They are looking for a magical Cube that they lost… Then, I heard that they wanted to get some healthy natives of this planet... They are requesting to get about a thousand of them. Right, they were specifically looking for powerful Magicians… The last thing they were looking for was a medium to help them get used to this planet faster. The Council was guessing that some of the aliens are incapable of just leaving their spaceships…"
The commander felt that Wallace is closely listening and very interested. This is why his face lit up as he continued telling more.
"Right! My father also noticed several species inside! It seems the aliens weren't all looking the same!"
Wallace nodded at his words since this just confirmed his thoughts… Nevertheless, why would the Empire reveal so much information to them?
'No… If we consider the situation, it doesn't matter whether they revealed their purpose for coming here. It's not like we can just stop them from doing so without defeating them. It all comes down to a battle of superiority.' Wallace gave it a thought as he wanted to also know what this space empire is thinking.
As far as he knows, they're not someone who would just accept anyone as their allies without heavy reasons… Or perhaps, they have changed their way of dealing with such matters after all these years?
Is it really possible to make such changes?
Wallace was unsure about that but he knows that the empire is not taking action without any plans.
"Alright… Tell me about the appearance of the aliens inside the spaceship."
"What? I can't! My father doesn't have time to describe these in complete detail… He only mentioned it a little since he knows that I'm curious whether they're human-like or not. I just know that he can tell that they are different species since they have varying appearances."
For the first time, the commander seems to speak without any hint of lies included. His panicking face was genuine since he truly doesn't know the answer to that question.
Luckily, the young man in front of him did not try to force him to spit out some information. If that's the case, he might be forced to lie about their appearances instead and it may become even more dangerous.
The commander couldn't stop his body from sweating profusely…
"So, what else do you know?"
The man asked.
'What else do I know about those aliens?'
This question made him froze… That's all he knows!
Apparently, Wallace noticed that he could no longer get more information from this person as he decided to pass his judgment.
He moved away from the airship as if he's already letting them go…
However, he just wanted to get a wider view from his targets. In truth, he's planning to eliminate them in a single move…
Then, an item appeared in his right hand as he prepared his attack.
Meanwhile, after the fleet confirmed that their commander was still alive and was left alone in the airship, they quickly sent people to rescue him and to provide him medical attention.
Aside from that, the submerged Steel Knights below also started aiming at Wallace who's currently floating using his Mana Spell.
He dared to attack them and hold their commander as a hostage!
They were unsure how their leader managed to push him away from the airship, however, now that they have a clearer view, they wouldn't miss this opportunity to launch a counter-attack.
They have been waiting for this moment for quite a while now so they managed to fire their cannons and missiles faster than Wallace's attack…
Boom! Boom!
Wallace received numerous attacks from the Steel Knights below… However, he just used his Void Phase to move not too far from his previous location and all of the projectiles missed their target and hit each other.
The moment he reappears, he's still holding his item, his pocket watch.
This is his Fervor Timepiece and he's about to use its Brain Burst to ensure he could hit all the moving targets at once.
However, as soon as he released his Astral Energy, someone decided to disturb him!
'Ahh… Why can't you leave me in peace even just for a day?!' Wallace thought as he heard the Celestial Being's void in his head.
"Hey. Are you about to kill them?"
"Yes…"
"I see… Anyway, the humanoid fishes below here said that they do not like humans. So although they can let them live in their city, they won't allow it. They have some deep grudge on them…"
"I understand. Thank you for letting me know."
"Yes, they also haven't eaten some fresh magicians for a while now… So how about giving up your target to these creatures I found. I know you'll just turn them into ash by that Astral Energy anyway…"
Wallace was genuinely surprised that this Celestial had changed so much from the first time they've seen each other.
He became a reasonable fellow and could even have a conversation with the Deep Sea Creatures. He's even requesting something for the sake of other species!
Perhaps, their previous meeting with Aeolia again changed this Celestial Being a lot more than he anticipated.
