Chapter 87 - Don't Ask Me

Chapter 87 - Don't Ask Me

BAaam!!

A loud noise coming from an explosion was heard in Wallace's room direction. It was followed by sounds of falling debris which made the three escorts of Wallace worried.

On the other hand, the escorts of Jun and Sheryl from Mystic Gate had long grasp the situation and were only waiting for a chance. After all, they were only a group Battle Mages and won't do much help with the high-end battle between the two Adepts.

After they heard the explosion near their rooms, they felt that it was time to go out and provide assistance.

They quickly ran out of their rooms and grouped together. They assessed the situation and saw four individuals in the hallway other than them. The female adept they had acquainted a while ago seems to be about to apprehend the cloaked intruder. They also noticed the other two suited escorts who were trying to open Wallace's room. It seems that something is stopping them from barging in.

Yumi was still facing Mark and was trying to gain control of his movements but because of the sudden disturbance in Wallace's room, she wasn't able to completely succeed. She was worried that something would happen to the young student as she felt that there's another hostile Adept in the room where Wallace was sleeping.

"Two Adepts? You think too highly of him, huh." Yumi said as she felt the mana fluctuation of the other person in Wallace's room. She saw Lucian and Max who was about to enter the room but was stopped by an invisible force.

She noticed the others as well but couldn't be bothered about these newly arrived Mystic Gate associates.

She had already realized that their intelligence was so wrong when Mark appeared but she couldn't help but be frustrated at the current situation.

'Tsk. What are those people in Ministry doing?!' She couldn't help but blame the Ministry for not immediately sending out reinforcements here.

Due to her losing focus, Mark had a chance to free himself and was now slipping on her grasp as he slowly regained control of his body. His body turns blurry from time to time as if he was just an astral projection.

As he was about to succeed, a wave of warm and bright mana was felt by all the magicians rejuvenating their vigor. Unfortunately, for the cloaked individuals who intruded their place, extreme discomfort was felt as if it was trying to pierce their flesh.

It was effective as Mark and the man in Wallace's room was stopped for a moment.

"Heaven's Treatment!" All the magicians in the building exclaimed as they recognize the wide range spell that gave them a form of blessing. It was a skill that only at the level of Troy Webb could cast. It was a highly complex magic skill that empowers all allies and even provides healing for the weak and injured. But for the enemies, it would feel like a curse that would try to eat their bodies.

Yumi was grateful for the help that Troy provided them as Mark and his companion seems to be taking time to remove the curse on their body. Of course, the curse being referred to was only a form of Mana trying to create havoc within the magician's body. This gave Yumi a chance to enter the room forcefully and deal with Mark's companion.

"You two! Use this and bind Mark, he's weakened." Yumi called Lucian and Max as she brought out two mana artifacts in the shape of a sphere. She then threw this artifact to them as she approached Wallace's room.

The duo didn't say a word but nodded in acknowledgment, they caught the orbs that were thrown and quickly moved to activate the spell within. As a Battle Mage, they have their method in determining the ability of the mana artifacts they are holding.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The clank of chains was heard and caught everyone's attention except Yumi who slammed the door of Wallace's room to save him. They couldn't afford to lose Wallace and after she used enough strength, the invisible force blocking the room was shattered. She felt Wallace's presence under the cover of the blanket then turned her head at the Adept who destroyed the room's wall to capture Wallace. She saw a middle-aged man in a simple short and white shirt as if he was just a passerby.

She couldn't be bothered about his attire and think too deeply about why the student was still sleeping with all this incident happening.

But Wallace might have been affected by a calming or sleeping spell as Yumi could still sense the familiar life presence under the blanket.

Outside the room, the two orbs of mana artifacts continued to summon multiple chains to bind Mark after it received enough mana to activate its magic spell.

"I recognized this artifact, to think that Yumi possessed something like this..." Max was awed upon activating the Magic Spell within.

"Indeed, a one-time use mana artifact." Lucian could only sigh in amazement upon realizing the mana artifact they've used. These one-time use mana artifacts, just like its name, could only be used once and the artifact will be unusable or even disintegrate in some cases.

Although they were Battle Mages, it doesn't mean that they were rich. Some of the Battle Mages, like these two, relied on some organizations which they have to serve in a period of time in exchange for being promoted.

Even if the two don't have an ability to be promoted alone and have affiliated with the NMTI, this allowed them to utilize more of their abilities and learn a lot. They recognized the value of many artifacts and the artifact they've just used was called Infinity Chains. One of these could apprehend multiple Adepts but they've been instructed to use two of them for a single weakened Adept. They weren't aware of what's going on Yumi's mind but they trusted her ability to lead.

Troy quickly rushed to the 14th floor upon realizing that there was another Adept attacking the place.

"Protect Erza and students. Don't slack!"

He let the other Adepts to protect the clustered students but as he left the group formed by their country's team, an attack from an unknown location barraged their students. This attack came from all direction but Troy managed to determine that the attacker uses the cover of the shadows to cast the spell. It was as if the enemy was manipulating the shadows.

'So, this is what I've sensed a while ago.' Troy said in his mind. Although he left the team, he had means to discern their situation and he presumed that the attacker was only buying time for the two Adepts on the upper floor.

Troy still stopped for a moment and released his peak Grade 3 Magic Spell - Heaven's Treatment. He used this spell also to buy himself time as he was monitoring the situation on the 14th floor.

'They should be able to handle this attack for now.' Troy thought as he decided to hurry in Yumi's location.

***

'Three! How come Adepts seems to be so common now?!' As a fellow Adept, Yumi's sense was extraordinary. She felt the special method of spell manipulation that has occurred on the lower floor but wasn't sure if the third attacker was an Adept. But, even after the appearance of the Heaven's Treatment, the barrage of shadow spells was still continuous.

This made Yumi sure that the attacker was another strong opponent. An Adept that was either outside of the building that is why they were unaffected of the Grade 3 Spell or really strong enough to be undetected and capable of defending against it.

Yumi cast a strong spell capable enough to pierce through the Mana Shell of an Adept and injure them. A spell capable of completely killing an Adept would likely take some time and the enemy may have a chance to counterattack once they removed the curse. So she opted for a quick skill.

"Hmph! You'll pay for your conceited thoughts." Yumi was incensed in these intruder's attempts to deal with Wallace.

She formed a spinning fire arrow and lightning and the spell looks like it was made of lava with sparks of lightning revolving around it. Yumi then threw the spell to the intruder.

The middle-aged man perceived the danger as he summoned all his strength to dodge the attack successfully.

Due to his wild control of Mana, the whole room was messed. The stones from the wall, broken glasses, clothes, furniture, and other things within the room flew around. Including Wallace's blanket.

"..."

"..."

The two saw a pillow in exchange for Wallace's supposed location. They can still feel his presence like he was there but what they see says otherwise.

The middle-aged man was dumbfounded and looked at Yumi as if asking what's happening but the latter seems to be confused as well.
