Chapter 13: Beautiful, Blonde, and Dangerous

The hunter stood facing Leon with cuts and bruises all over his body, his clothes had been cut into shreds and several parts of his leather amour had been pierced.

"You are smiling like this is over"

The hunter said to Leon with gritted teeth. He was the hunter here, Leon was only a lowly warlock, how dare he look at him like he was some sort of loser?

"Having a hard time accepting defeat? You really are a brat"

Leon couldn't help but chuckle. What did he think this was? A game? He didn't even think of the possibility that he might actually lose this fight?

"Defeat? This is only getting started!!"

With a crazed look on his face, the hunter announced, he then proceeded to jump backwards, meanwhile his hand reached into a pouch on his side where he pulled out a small bottle with a murky red liquid inside.

"Gulp gulp"

Immediately after he landed, he started gulping it down like it was some sort of juice. Surprisingly, his wound soon started closing up. It happened like a flash, his body was healing before Leon's very eyes.

(Thank god for the healing potions I got from father, if not I'd be dead right now. I have to find an opportunity to run)

The hunter thought in his mind, if not for the potions his father gave to him before departing, he would have bled to death, but the showed one thing though, Leon could not be trifled with. He had to run the first chase he got.

(Hm? Healing potions? Looks like you're a big fish.....)

Leon mused, anything that had to do with healing was considered valuable in any society, especially so for societies like these, where death and injuries were a common occurrence.

"Are you ready for the second round?" As soon as he healed up completely, the hunter stood up and said to Leon. Of course, what he had in mind was to run away at the first chance he got, but... before he could.

"Blurggg"

He spat out a mouthful of blood mixed with a greenish substance, it was murky and came out with some of his lunch, followed by a bad stench

This was poison.

(It worked? Nice)

Leon watched as the hunter rolled around the ground frantically while spiting out blood from his mouth. This was the work of the dagger he got from the dodgy youth in the black market.

It was filled with a special poison that caused minor internal bleeding to whomever it entered. It was fairly potent, however with Leon's meddling, he was able to find some herbs around the camp to amplify its effects by several folds.

"Disgusting" Leon left a casual remark before approaching the now lifeless body of the young hunter who was on the floor of the massive tree branch they were standing oh.

The healing potion had closed his wounds but the poison still remained ravaging his internal organs, he struggled, while spitting out blood, until eventually, he died.

"Might as well take these valuables off your hands" Leon said casually before reaching towards the young man and plundering some of his valuables.

He took some silver coins, the kid's dagger and several other items, but the most useful in Leon's eyes were the healing potions. With a single gulp, he would heal his injuries instead of using the heal spell which took time.

"This will do...." taking the guys' clothing or amour would only cause troubles if people recognized them on the road. As it seemed like this gentleman had a powerful background, it was best to avoid anything that ties him to his death.

What he needed to do now was to cross the river and find the nearest town where he could lay low.

—Rustle

But, Just as he was preparing to leave, he heard a bit of Rustling in a nearby scrub. following which two projectiles pierced through the air approaching him rapidly.

"Shit"

Leon immediately responded by doing a backflip and landing into the dense pocket of bushes below the tree.

—Ding

—Clang

—Clang

—Clang

But he couldn't escape so easily as immediately he landed the sound of weapons clashing started echoing, soon two figures could be seen fighting their way out of the dense pocket of leaves into the river back.

"Haaaa ahhhhh"

Heavy breathing filled the air as two parties stood facing each other on the open river bank.

"you??"

In front of him was a lady with blonde hair and a beautiful countenance. She was the definition of a cold beauty. Another thing that stood out were several bite marks leaking blood from her arms to shoulders, it seemed like she had been bitten by snakes.

"You killed the Dalriss boy...." with a look of calm on her face, she immediately accused Leon of the most dreadful crime known to man

murder.

Of course, she was right, but there was no way in hell Leon would admit to it.

"I don't know what you're talking about, I'm only trying to get away from this mess"

Leon gave his defense, he was just a random guy trying to get away from the fighting. As if that made any sense.

"Hmp!! Do you think I'm blind? I can smell the blood on you from a mile away. Besides, You even look guilty"

The lady spat out with much vigor, causing Leon to pause in shock. He was guilty because he looked guilty? What kind of argument was that?

—shing

Within the brief moment which Leon was using to rationalize the lady's reasoning, a flash of sword light came barreling down towards him, threatening to cut his neck.

"Shit!!"

Leon dove to the side while simultaneously unsheathing the dagger on his waist. This lady was ruthless and precise. She saw an opening and struck at Leon with the intent to kill.

(This one is dangerous)

Leon thought to himself before raising both his dagger and the one he had gotten from the young hunter up to guard himself. This lady, whoever she was, was very dangerous.

—Cough cough

"Cough.....You should give up" The blonde lady said to Leon. He was easily distracted just then, If she had attacked with her full strength, he would be dead by now.

"We will see about that" Leon smirked and raised his daggers up.
