Chapter 121 – Why did that wolf pick a flower? Was it for her? (3)

Yuan Jue, who had always been very unlucky and took a long time to find the right trees for firewood, was surprisingly lucky today. Maybe, it was because he was thinking about his little wife at home. It felt as if he had inadvertently received the protection of a mysterious power. On his way to get firewood, he didn’t encounter any of the wild animals or weak fiends that he had expected to see.

Yuan Jue changed into his wolf form. He used his demon power to increase his form until he was several meters tall. With his right hind paw on the ground for support, he placed his front paws on the level 2 tree and carefully broke off the dead wood and branches.

After he had gotten enough firewood to last them for over a month, he put his paws down and broke off wood from a hardwood tree that grew near the firewood trees. He planned on bringing this back to make into basins and bowls.

Right now, they were using the same bowl. Although he wasn’t unhappy about sharing a bowl, it would be bad if he wasn’t able to control the fiend energy in his body one day and the amount that touched Ruan Qiuqiu exceeded the amount she could remove.

By staying with him, her life was already arduous. He didn’t want her to take any unnecessary risk on top of that.

He had used up most of his demon energy, and his meridians started to ache dully. He tied the wood together with dried vines and carried it on his furry, broad wolf back.

The sky was about to completely darken. There were inconspicuous flashes of lighting in the rain clouds, and hail and rain fell in the next second.

His injured wolf form was too big, and the falling hail hurt a lot as they struck him. He lowly growled and gritted his teeth. With great difficulty, he used his demon consciousness to identify the path home and hastily made his way back to the cave.

The little scheming wolf’s plan hadn’t been completed yet. He wanted to get back before his little wife woke up, and then he would weakly faint outside the cave and wait for her to bring him inside.

Although the weather was bad, it was within his expectations. It hurt when the hail struck him, but fortunately, his wolf hide was very thick, so it only hurt a little bit.

Just a little bit of pain, that’s all.

The sky had gradually darkened as Ruan Qiuqiu looked in many places. She wasn’t able to find any clues or a frozen wolf under a tree like last time. Her worry and bitterness kept growing and reached a peak when thunder cut through the clouds with a boom.

Rain and fine hail pelted down from the sky. Ruan Qiuqiu wasn’t careful enough in evading them and a bunch hit her head. As the hail melted, it felt as if her head was being dunk in icy water.

She had already run out strength. If she didn’t go back now, she might die in the forest.

Ruan Qiuqiu stood in a vast snowfield. When she raised her head, she only saw the grey sky with flashes of lightning and giant trees that were over ten meters high and blocked the horizon. She wiped away her tears.

Where did he go? Did he go hunting again? Or go home? Once that latter possibility occurred to her, Ruan Qiuqiu rushed to the cave with her backpack.

She was already past the point of being angry that Mr. Gray Wolf had put her to sleep and didn’t take off her shoes. She just hoped that he… won’t die. Don’t die.

The rain and hail was getting worse. As Ruan Qiuqiu was running, she tripped and fell down several times.

When she arrived at the vicinity of the cave, she was panting. She didn’t see anyone.

A curtain of black covered the sky with only a ray of light peeking through. The rain and falling hail smashed the snowy ground.

Ruan Qiuqiu walked to the cave’s entrance in a daze. She put down her backpack and sat down on the cold ground instead of going in to get a stone stool. Hugging her knees, she looked out at the foul weather.

The tears falling from her eyes almost mirrored the curtain of rain outside.

She felt that she was so useless. She wasn’t smart or strong. She didn’t have any special innate skills or the female lead’s halo. Even though life was difficult, she just wanted to continue living her ordinary life.

She had been so happy to find a lot of herbs and a few spiritual energy stones, but now, the wolf that she had worked so hard to raise was gone.

Ruan Qiuqiu’s cheeks were hot, and it gradually became difficult for her to breath.

She rubbed her eyes to clear her vision. She gritted her teeth and decided to go out to look for the wolf again. She looked up and saw a giant figure in the unending rain. The figure was carrying a lot of wood that was about to be drenched on its back.

Was she seeing things?
