Chapter 95: Realizing that she had misunderstandings about Mr. Gray Wolf (2)
While they were talking, they arrived at the safe path that Mo Yu had mentioned.
“Big sister Qiuqiu, this way.” Mo Yu beckoned her over to a giant tree that was about 9-meter in height and by the base of a cliff.
There were somewhat dried out vines hanging from the giant tree. Those vines were very long and reached all the way to ground. There was still fallen snow on those vines.
Mo Yu knocked the snow off those vines with his bone stick, and a hole that was about a meter in length and height was revealed. It was blocked by a few, small rocks.
Ruan Qiuqiu was surprised. She walked over to Mo Yu and surveyed the hole. The hole was about two meters above the ground and was the opening to a passageway that went through the cliff. It happened to be hidden by the vines on the giant tree.
There was also a hole in the tree. The hole was about 1.5 meters high and 1 meter wide. There were claw marks around it. The hole was probably made by someone instead of a natural hole.
Knowing that spot was found by Mo Mao, Ruan Qiuqiu guessed that Mo Mao probably used his claws to dig out that hole.
“Big sister Qiuqiu, I’ll go up and take out those stones in the passage first.” Mo Yu grabbed a vine and climbed up, then he got into the hole in the tree.
Ruan Qiuqiu looked up and saw the child leaning over and moving the rocks from the passage to the hole in the tree.
Mo Yu stretched his head out to look at her. “Big sister Qiuqiu, let’s go. I’ll lead the way.”
Ruan Qiuqiu didn’t hesitate. She grabbed a vine, climbed up along the side of the cliff, and got into the hole in the tree.
The space inside the hole spacious enough to hold an adult that was leaning over as well as many rocks.
Mo Yu had already climbed into the passage. His voice came from a distance, “Big sister Qiuqiu, be careful. Don’t hit your head.”
Ruan Qiuqiu verbally acknowledged his words, then she put the spear away in her backpack and fastened it. Still leaned over, she crawled into the hole.
The hole was narrower than it looked. Fortunately, Ruan Qiuqiu wasn’t especially tall or fat. Even while carrying her backpack, she was small enough to be able to crawl through.
She had thought the hole would be very dark, but after crawling several meters, she could faintly make out light up ahead. After crawling about 20 meters, she reached outside.
She didn’t come out to an open place, but a gap in a small valley. The path was less than 2 meters wide and surrounded by mountains.
Mo Yu whispered, “Big sister Qiuqiu, you can’t speak loudly here. After 10 minutes of walking, we’ll be out of here.
Ruan Qiuqiu nodded to indicate that she understood. This path was obviously a passage that had naturally formed between mountains. Loud noises here could easily cause an avalanche. There might be mudslides here during heavy rainstorms, so it would be dangerous to walk through here then too.
Ruan Qiuqiu followed Mo Yu. After five or six minutes of walking, they went through another a hole and climbed another tree. Finally, they reached their destination, which was near the upper reaches of a stream in the middle of the forest.
What surprised Ruan Qiuqiu was that there was a giant tree growing at the exit and blocking it. There was no hole in this giant tree.
The two of them climbed down using the dried vines on the giant tree and stood on the soft snow, which didn’t have any traces of being distubed by demons.
Ruan Qiuqiu took a deep breath. She really hadn’t expected there would be such a path.
Mo Yu looked at her expression and showed a childish expression appropriate for his age. “It’s older brother that found this path!”
Ruan Qiuqiu praised, “Mo Mao is truly very amazing.”
Little Yu’s smile grew a bit bigger, then he pointed at a row of trees across the steam. “Big sister Qiuqiu, you’ll see the herbs once you climb up.”
They didn’t waste any time. They bypassed the frozen stream and walked to the row of giant trees underneath the cliff.
Half a month ago, these trees weren’t bare and weren’t heavily ladened with snow. That’s why Mo Yu could climb up them.
Ruan Qiuqiu didn’t let Mo Yu climb and had him wait on the ground and keep watch. She picked the tallest tree to climb.
Ruan Qiuqiu had climbed plenty of trees, but this was her first time climbing up such a tall tree. However, this tree had relatively numerous curved areas, so it wasn’t too strenuous. The only problem was the slipperiness from the snow and ice on the branches. Ruan Qiuqiu almost lost her footing several times.
