Chapter 1316  Bait

Xiang Weimin and Shui Xian shared a look knowingly and said simultaneously, "Expect the unexpected with Fai around."

Xiang Wai looked at the two of them and then burst out laughing, "Indeed. I can't refute your words." Then being unable to stay out of it, she called out, "Hey, Raelle! Fai! Actually, you both can't survive the apocalypse and the reason won't be your lack of cooking skills. I promise you that."

Raelle and Hyson stopped and looked over at her. They changed their target almost instantly. "Major, my best friend is so good. Heaven would definitely bless her with the best superpower to survive the apocalypse!" said Hyson.

"And you're underestimating my best friend," started Raelle. "He doesn't just know how to act cute or annoy people. He can be pretty resourceful when he wants to be. Anyway, even if he had no superpower, people would be willing to serve him like a prince."

Xiang Weimin and Shui Xian shook their heads and laughed once they heard this.

"Why are you both attacking me together again?" asked Xiang Wai. "What are you two up to? Am I your common enemy?"

"We won't treat you like our common enemy if you stop keeping your eyes on us," said Hyson.

"You have an unusual interest in both of us," added Raelle.

"I have never seen clowns like you two before," retorted Xiang Wai.

"Wai!" came Xiang Weimin's call. "Don't be rude."

"How am I being rude here?"

"That's rude. You called little Aunt and Uncle Fai, clowns. They are so nice though," said Justin.

"Fine. It's my fault. I'm sorry," said Xiang Wai. She was just joking but she couldn't do anything right now. Not in front of Justin for sure. Since her nephew has spoken, she'd just give in before a fight. "You need to keep in mind that we have a kid at home now," reminded Shui Xian. "So, there are some things that you can and can't say. You don't wanna be a bad influence on your nephew, right?"

"I understand," replied Xiang Wai.

"Xian is right," started Xiang Weimin. "This isn't the army camp. This isn't your team. You can't just say whatever comes to your mind without thinking about it anymore. It was fine before but as Xian said, we have a kid in the family now. So, make sure to start thinking before speaking."

"I said, I understand. Geez! You all are being mean now." Xiang Wai huffed and walked away.

"Come back here and eat before going anywhere."

"I'm going to collect some firewood!" she shouted back.

"We will do it later," said Xiang Weimin. "Come and eat first."

"Oh."

Hyson looked at Raelle who didn't seem to be paying attention to anything right now. Because her eyes were looking skywards at the tall pine trees and the mottled sunlight that fell through the leaves. "What?" asked Hyson.

"Why?"

"Why what?" he asked again.

Raelle moved her eyes to him and asked, "Why did you bring us here?" Before he could say anything, she added, "Don't talk about treasure again or I'm gonna smack your face with that wooden stick over there."

Hyson smiled at her, "But there is treasure."

"Where?"

"Everywhere," answered Hyson. "You just need the eyes to see that treasure. Do you know there is a saying that those who live in mountains are nourished by mountains? These mountains have raised a lot of people. People depended on them to grow up. So, I'm right when I say that there is treasure here."

"What? Wild fruits? Mushrooms? Pine nuts?"

"Everything. There are so many medicinal herbs here too. How about we go and look for ginseng together?"

"You're just looking for fun and you're dragging me into it."

"The idea was to just drag you but you won't come without Xian Ge, and then the number increased on its own. I didn't bait them with the treasure."

"How did you bait my husband?"

"Just talked about camping in the woods and he was sold already."

Raelle nodded in understanding when she heard that. It was really easy to bring Shui Xian into this plan. Because Hyson knew what to say to get Shui Xian interested. Isn't that why she said earlier to Xiang Wai that he could thrive in the apocalypse even without any special skill because Hyson knew how to talk and get things done?

"Then what do you think?" asked Hyson.

"About?"

"Ginseng?"

"Isn't it better for you to go alone to look for that ginseng? Between you and I, your luck is top-notch. It has always been the case. You're the lucky one. I can be considered unlucky considering how many times I got kidnapped."

"So, let's say I'm taking you with me to balance our my heaven-defying luck. You bring your bad luck and I'll bring my luck. Together, we'll balance out each other. This way, if we really managed to find the ginseng, I'd be truly happy with the achievement. Because it'd feel fulfilling."

"Let's just sit down, Hyson. Why do you have to look for something to do all the time?" asked Raelle. "I can't match your energy."

"Why do you get lazy when it comes to having fun?"

"I don't have the fun bone in me. Don't you already know that?" Hyson gave her a look, "I don't know about fun bone. What I know is that your doctor said it's good for you to go out more and relax and unwind yourself. It's very important for you to be in a good mood. You have to take time away from work."

"I leave work on time. I go out on walks too. I even have dates with my husband."

"Going on short vacations is different," said Hyson. "Walking does nothing to you. It has become a part of you. A routine. It's not like your enjoy it. It's a habit now. Almost an addiction."

"No way!"

"You stayed in the hospital and within couple of days you were looking for ways to go out on your daily runs. And you're saying you are not addicted to it?"
