CHAPTER START---
---2 PM, Sunday...
"I always wondered what was in here," Genesis says, walking through Horizon's training ground in her new Hero Costume.
Her leotard now replaced with a pair of shorts and a crop top, with a zipper down the middle of the top. A mask covering most of her face and her signature ponytail still apparent. Her book was also now held at her side on her belt with the other side having small compartments with high fat snacks she could easily eat.
"Impressed?" Horizon ask as they walk through the empty streets. He was wearing his PC Uniform instead of Hero Costume. "Cementoss built it pretty quickly, like a little city of pure concrete, no pesky cameras so I can practice my new moves in private."
"That explains why it doesn't have the details other training areas have, the windows here don't even have glass, no plants, the roads aren't paved."
"All designed to be destroyed and quickly rebuilt, and I've destroyed it all a few time already," Horizon shrugs as the gets to what appears to be a town square.
"You've destroyed a small town of concrete multiple times over," Momo looks around at the blocks of five story buildings. "You say that as if its normal.""Well for me it is, now, lets get to why you're here," they finally get to a shaded spot and he points to the far wall, only 20m away from them.
TAKT!
Three thin pillars rise up out of the floor, as tall as light posts.
"My targets?" Momo asks.
"First things first, show my the guns?" there was a noticeable tinge of excitement in Horizon's voice, which she didn't miss.
"Uh, I'm not allowed to hand them to anyone who...right, nevermind," Genesis reaches down to her exposed stomach as it begins shimmering a pinkish purple light.
And then she produces what appears to be a modified pistol, what would be plain and boring if not for the oddly large chamber and bulkier design.
And the red and white colour scheme to match her outfit.
Holding it in his hand Horizon does a quick Scan.
"This thing has a lot of parts...some weird ones too."
"That's a requirement," Genesis says. "Since my Quirk doesn't actually need firearms to function, I had to make them in a way that cannot be used for anyone else. They're also disposable in the sense that they get worn down quite easily.
The material composition is also very expensive to replicate industrially. Its likely that I'll only be able to use all of my shots in a gun, reload once, then by the end of those new rounds I'll have to make another gun."
"So many hoops just to use a gun, on villains no less. What about those weird bullets, they're wider than normal ones, and blunt."
"Oh, Mr. Shield helped me with the design, they're made of a metal composite that transfers most of the kinetic energy as blunt force instead of piercing."
"So metal beanbags...ouch."
"Mostly non-lethal, but they will hurt a lot."
"Any other guns or just this design?"
"Only this for now, I'm working on some others, and when I feel confident with all of them I'll apply for a work studies next semester, hopefully with Snipe or another ranged Pro Hero."
"Good plan, now lets see how good these are," Horizon casually aims at the middle pillar, looking down the iron sights.
Seeing his improper form Genesis is about to correct him, but he starts firing immediately.
She stands mouth agape and eyes wide as each shot is released with almost no delay between them. And they all hit the same spot, causing a small crack to spread through the concrete and the metal missiles to fall to the ground below the impact point.
Her face was flushed below the mask, heart racing, breathing heavy.
"You can shoot?" she asks in amazement. "Why can you shoot, and how are you that good?"
"Its not that hard," Horizon shrugs, leaving her oblivious to his years of practice. "I see it in movies all the time."
"But, but 20 shots in the exact same spot, that's, incredible."
"Nineteen shots actually."
"Nineteen? But that magazine holds---"
BANG!
He shoots her in the left shoulder.
"AHHHH!" she falls back onto the floor clutching her shoulder, looking up at him with teary eyes as the blackish purple bruise forms.
"Huh, guess it really hits like a beanbag."
"You shot me!" he wasn't sure if she sounded more hurt from the pain or the perceived betrayal.
"Yeah, obviously. If you're gonna be shooting people you should atleast get shot once, see how it feels for yourself. So you know exactly the kind of pain you're about to so casually inflict onto others, only seems fair, right?"
She holds her breath for a moment, trying to calm herself, then gives him an annoyed look as she gets up, "you could have warned me first."
"That's no fun," he says while handing her back the gun.
"I think it fractured a bone," Genesis winces as she tries to roll her shoulder.
"Well you're pretty slim so not much padding, hold still," he rests a hand on her shoulder and a soothing sensation flows through the injury, and the pain completely goes away.
She just barely looks in time to see the blue healing energy retracting as he removes his hand, "thank you," she gives a dazzling smile.
"Quit blushing and start shooting, let me see how accurate you are..."
---2 Hours Later...
"Well now we know your limit," Horizon says as he looks around, seeing the three destroyed concrete pillars, then looking around his feet to see scattered sets of brittle guns.
And beside him, on the floor, Genesis, sitting on the floor panting, drenched in sweat, trying to recover.
"I'm, out of, snacks," she says, gesturing to her empty belt pouches.
"Well, you did good against immobile targets, today was just limit testing, you still need to practice accuracy while moving, on moving targets, and clearing buildings. Also, always keep a knife on you atleast, or a retractable staff."
"Snipe said the same thing, and thank you."
"One last thing, have you shot anyone yet?"
Her eyes widen, "uh, no, I haven't gone on patrol yet or used this in real combat."
"Well, you've got enough for one shot I'm sure, and who better than me."
"You, you want me to shoot you?!"
"Yeah, better to get all this anxiety out now before you come face to face with some psycho and freeze, because then you'd die, or worse."
"Worse?"
"With tits like that, use your imagination..."
She looks disgusted at that idea, but doesn't argue with the depths some people can sink into.
"C'mon, just get it out of the way now."
"I don't know, you're my friend, and you know I li---"
"If you do it I'll give you a ki---"
BANG!
Horizon stops the bullet just before it slams into his visor, holding it in mid-air with his Quirk.
He keeps it in place and leans to the side, looking at her embarrassed face.
"Maybe not in the face, but good job I guess..."
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry! I just got so excited and then my hand just moved and I was already looking at your face and I---"
"Don't worry about it, and good quick draw time. Now go get cleaned up then come to my room to cash in, in about two hours, I've got something to do first, and I'd do it now but you're all sweaty and gross..."
SHAMBLES!
Momo rips off her mask and takes a deep breath, mind still reeling from what just happened. Then she sees the bullet still floating in the air and grabs it, a memento of a day well spent.
Then she assess her current state, drenched in sweat, and holds her head in her hands, "how embarrassing, but he didn't seem to hate it atleast... I just have to go make the most of tonight."
---Meanwhile, Horizon's Room...
"I was trying to be flirty and she tried to shoot me in the face, what the fuck Momo," he immediately checks his phone, seeing his client almost ready.
SHAMBLES!
His casual PE Uniform is swapped out for his Hero Costume, ready to do one last bit of work before he has some fun for the evening.
'My informant should be in Musutafu soon, just help him out, get the info I need, then I can get back here and relax...probably talk to Shield first. Finally making some progress on all these things I have to do...'
