Mighty Pill Alchemist Comes Back

Chapter 13

Chapter 13

C13 – Shameless Woman

Jia Anan’s face darkened considerably. She had previously ridiculed Zhuang Xing, calling him worthless and poor, incapable of affording anything. Yet, he had not only purchased the Jade Spirit Ganoderma but had also acquired a multitude of Spirit Treasures in a single transaction.

?The waitress’s heart raced with each item Zhuang Xing named. These items, all available at the Spirit Treasure Pavilion, were notoriously hard to sell due to their exorbitant prices. Selling even one in a fortnight was considered a success. But today, he had bought an astonishing number of them.

It took a while for the waitress to regain her composure, her face breaking into a beaming smile. Her demeanor toward Zhuang Xing improved significantly. She wouldn’t hesitate for a second to marry him if the proposal came at that moment.

“Young Master Xing, please hold on for a moment. I’ll bring your items right away,” she said, her form of address for Zhuang Xing having shifted subtly, a sign of her eagerness to bridge the gap between them.

?Humming a cheerful tune, the waitress sashayed away, elated by the day’s sale that had skyrocketed her performance figures. She had outdone her colleagues’ yearly efforts in one fell swoop.

Zhuang Xing cast a dismissive glance at Jia Anan.

Fuming under his scornful look, Jia Anan was livid. Zhuang Xing had blatantly disregarded her, despite her status as the top prodigy of Cloud Peak City. If not for the Spirit Treasure Pavilion’s strict no-fighting rule, she would have given him a memorable lesson.

“Do you even have that kind of money, you waste?” she spat out.

The sum he had spent was nearly half of the Jia family’s annual income. Not even the Jia family patriarch could produce such an amount on a whim. It would require the Elder Council’s consent and a host of formalities to spend that much.

Zhuang Xing was considered nothing more than a failure. His father, Zhuang Dou, head of the Zhuang family, often secured privileges for him. But even he wouldn’t condone such extravagance. And even with his approval, the Elder Council members would surely object.

“No need to trouble yourself over it.”

Zhuang Xing shrugged nonchalantly. He certainly didn’t have that much money on him. The twenty-five thousand silver he had previously spent represented all of his savings. Currently without funds, he nonetheless had his methods. He still possessed many top-grade pills he could sell, which would provide him with the necessary funds to make purchases.

Jia Anan watched Zhuang Xing’s indifferent demeanor and was so infuriated that she stamped her foot. Today, Zhuang Xing seemed to have undergone a transformation.

In the past, whenever he encountered her, he always acted with utmost humility, likely in an attempt to ingratiate himself with her—a gesture she found utterly contemptible. She truly couldn’t fathom why her father had ever consented to her betrothal to Zhuang Xing.

“Young Master Xing, here are the items you requested. Please review them.”

The waitress was swift, bringing everything Zhuang Xing required in under a minute. Her attitude towards him had done a complete one-eighty now that she recognized him as a wealthy individual, obliging her to attend to him with great care.

The onlookers, glimpsing the array of exquisite items, couldn’t hide their envy. Possessing such treasures would surely catapult their strength to new heights.

Yet, the thought of the exorbitant cost immediately dampened their spirits. As desirable as these items were, the price was prohibitively steep—they simply couldn’t afford them.

“Alright, let’s have a look.”

Zhuang Xing meticulously inspected each item, only allowing himself a sigh of relief once he was satisfied there were no issues.

“What’s the total?”

“Young Master Xing, that would be one hundred and thirteen thousand and eight hundred taels of silver.”

The waitress beamed with a radiant smile. Securing this sale would not only boost her sales record but also likely secure her the position of the next General Manager.

One hundred and thirteen thousand and eight hundred?

Upon hearing this sum, everyone’s hearts lurched. For them, it was a sum beyond imagination, more money than they’d ever encountered in their lifetimes.

“Do you even have that kind of money, you good-for-nothing?”

Jia Anan noticed that Zhuang Xing wasn’t flaunting a hefty stack of silver notes as he had done previously. She surmised that he might be out of funds and let out a cold laugh. He had the audacity to insult her publicly before, and now she was determined to return the favor with interest.

Zhuang Xing gave a sidelong glance but remained silent.

At that moment, the expressions around the room were priceless. Could it be that he was actually out of money?

“Hahaha, he really is broke. Looks like he’s trying to weasel out of paying,” Jia Anan cackled, her eyes brimming with scorn.

The server’s demeanor darkened, her smile vanishing into thin air. In all her time, no one had ever dared to default on a payment at the Spirit Treasure Pavilion.

“If you’re out of money, then please leave immediately. Do not disrupt the Spirit Treasure Pavilion’s daily operations.”

The server snatched the Iron Pear Flowers and Heart Grass from Zhuang Xing’s grasp and stepped back with a look of disgust. She then signaled to a nearby guard, who quickly went to alert others to be on the defensive.

“You’re truly vile, just as contemptible as Jia Anan.”

Zhuang Xing internally shook his head. This woman had previously fawned over him, almost as if she wanted to marry him on the spot. Now, she had turned icy in an instant.

Jia Anan sneered. He had seemed so generous just moments ago, but now his true nature had come to light. It was time for her to put him in his place.

“What’s going on here?”

Suddenly, a woman emerged. Her presence made several onlookers’ eyes sparkle. All eyes were on her.

She was the manager of the Spirit Treasure Pavilion, known as Mu Zhu, or Miss Su to those around her. She was among the most enchanting women in Cloud Peak City.

“Manager, we have a troublemaker,” the server said, pointing at Zhuang Xing. “Could you please handle this?”

“Young Master Zhuang Xing, what brings you to the Spirit Treasure Pavilion today?”
