Chapter 164: Mission and New World!
Chapter 164: Mission and New World!
Along with Dona and Yuri, Mark walked through the pine forest, his Soul Sense sweeping his surroundings for any sign of movement. But most of his attention was elsewhere: on his Violet Screen which spoke to him about the Mission that the Will of the Demon World had given him.
He could only leave the World of Savages once he completes the Mission.
[Using a Public Portal as a medium, you have entered the World of Savages!]
[Strongest Powers of this World—Tier 2].
[You have received a mission from the Will of the Demon World. Complete the mission to make the Demon World open a private portal back to the Demon World for you—or you can find a Public Portal and return through that after Mission completion.]
Mark looked at the message intently.
[Mission 1: Kill 100 Silver Savages.]
[Rewards:
o. Entry back into the Demon World.]
[Mission 2: Kill 10 Golden Savages.]
[Rewards:
o. Portal Key.]
[Mission 3: Kill 100 Golden Savages.]
[Rewards:
o. Seal of Destiny.]
…
"...So you have to kill 100 Silver Savages and 100 Golden Savages to get the best benefits."
Mark nodded, somewhat amused. "If I successfully do that, I won't have to fight in some battle royale as I planned to but I don't know if it is as simple as it sounds. We don't even know what kind of things these Savages are as of now."
If it was that simple, the Middle Demons who were already here—the slaves of stronger demons—would have already killed all the Golden Savages. Whatever that was.
Yuri ran her hands through the wild trees on their route, frowning as her fingers brushed past.
"This world is not that different from the Hunter World, right?" she said. "This is actually super weird. Look at the trees and flowers, even they are similar to the Hunter World in some sense—even the gravity isn't that different in force."
It is also similar to Earth, Mark thought.
"And do you want to hear something else of interest?"
Yuri looked at him curiously. While they were in the village, Mark had checked around to find himself some clothes—clothes that looked like the Shaolin martial robes from Earth—and from then on, Yuri had been sneaking a glance or two his way once in a while.
The robes were of fine quality from the start but once Mark got his hands on it, he used Alchemic Shapeshifting to turn it much firmer while keeping it as flexible as possible. His highly masculine physique, now covered under the robes of a simple warrior, just made one feel like looking at him.
"What is the interesting thing?" Yuri asked.
"No matter what World I went into, they all had humans, Except the Demon World, of course. I have been wondering why so many Worlds had humans when they are also one of the weakest races I've met so far." Mark cupped his jaws. "Maybe that just shows how adaptable they are."
Yuri seem to have another thought.
She said, guessing, "Or maybe you are only invading Worlds in a certain part of the universe. Like, only the 'X' area in a world with hundreds of areas, and this part is somewhere rich with humans."
"Hm, that could be."
Then did that mean Earth… is close?
He added another guess, "Or it could also be that there is a super strong human out there who populated many worlds with humans. Just going around and reproducing through the multiverse."
Mark kind of admired that guy. That seemed like something he'd do if he had nothing else to do.
Dona said from Mark's back, yawning, "Who cares about humans anyway? Those people were so weak, I can squash them to death without even taking out my flames."
Yuri flicked a pebble at Dona's forehead and the Demoness cringed. She glared at Yuri with a frown.
The scientist smiled. "I am also a human, Miss Dona, and I don't see myself losing to you in a fight."
"You are not human, though," the Demoness said as she bared her cute fangs. Yuri was indeed stronger than her physically.
Yuri raised her eyebrow. "What am I if not a human?"
Dona yawned. "Aren't you a Hunter?"
Yuri shrugged but she seemed amused. Mark nudged his horn against his demoness.
"You are smarter," he praised.
Dona's eyes lit up. "Really Mark?"
"Of course, do I lie to you?" But Mark then shook his head. "But why are you taking blows passively while not returning anything? She threw a pebble at you, and you are just going to take it? I didn't teach you to be so cowardly."
Dona didn't care and just rested her head on his shoulder, licking his cheeks. "I am just lazy, and she is stronger than me. Mark should throw a pebble back at her for me—you are strong."
Yuri squatted down and dug her hands into the mud, when she took it out, there was a handful of wet mud in her hands and it was full of earthworms. "This is an insect that was also in the Hunter world. Are we really in a different World? This almost feels as if I just went into some different continent at best."
She let go of the mud and frowned. "No, the earthworm is different. Mark, do you feel it?"
Mark nodded and grew silent. Something rose from the ground like a balloon—it was a bubble-like thing. The thing seemed liquid, yet not liquid, and as Mark and Yuri watched, it flew up.
"I was here!" it shouted.
Then, it vanished accompanied by a plop sound.
Yuri's eyes widened in curiosity. "What was that?"
Mark was silent as his hand suddenly clutched at empty air. Something wriggled inside his palm but he held it at bay and looked inside.
"I was caught, so sad…" It shouted.
Mark looked at it. It was a very small leaf with a mouth. It had four, long legs and it also had eyes and ears. It shouted: "I was caught. SO SAD!"
Suddenly, it became silent and the legs and mouth vanished, turning into a normal leaf.
"What just happened?" Yuri said, baffled.
Mark whistled. "It's time we learn about this world."
He went into his World Space. A whole new island had been created there—it was the village of Shin. The villagers were currently huddled in their huts, talking with each other with fear on their faces.
Mark listened in on them.
"This world is so dark, there is not even a moon here."
"There are only nine stars, too."
"We are on an island with an ocean surrounding us. Our village had been thrown into a sea!"
"That demon tricked us!"
"He has no reason to trick us."
All of them were pointing fingers at Shin—the man who had attacked Mark first. Mark shook his head and made Shin appear in the real world. Shin was startled and afraid, and seeing Mark, he immediately kowtowed.
"Benefactor!" he called out.
Mark's eyes twitched while Yuri held back a chuckle.
"Shin, tell me what this is," Mark said, showing the leaf in his hand.
Shin looked at it with wide eyes.
