Chapter 24 Recognition
Chapter 24 Recognition
?"Wait!" The chief mage's eyes grew sharp and held onto the police section chief's shoulder, stopping him from moving.
He then opens his drawer and takes a strange device that looks like a handheld meter that is used to detect some anomalies in the ghost hunt tv show but this one is looking like an old antic rather than an electronic device.
The chief mage sweeps the device on the police section chief body from head to toe trying to detect something out of place. The moment the device is at the police section chief color, its alarm rings.
But before the chief mage was able to do anything a small object immediately flew out of the police section chief. It then flew around the room as it tried to find the exit.
The moment it flew past the Gargoyle its hand suddenly moved and tried to swat that mysterious object but that object suddenly rushed at the Gargoyle's hand piercing it and then returning to ram at the Gargoyle's head destroying it in the process.
When the mysterious small object pierced through the gargoyle's head, its speed was slow enough for the people in the room to see what it was.
"That…. That's the metal scarab of that Artificer." The police section chief blurted out the name of that object.
Suddenly the back of the coat of the chief mage shone brightly displaying a strange insignia of a strange-looking viper with many strange runes and symbols as the spell began to activate. He enhanced his physical prowess with the spell prepared in the insignia and immediately punched at the Metal scarab.
Clank!
The sound of two solid objects clashing together was heard, the police section chief knew that even though he didn't like the chief mage much, he must admit, the chief mage's strength within the ministry was undisputed. He imagined that the metal scarab should have turned to dust.
But what shocked him was the metal scarab was just blown away by the chief mage's strike, its fingernail size body was stabilized in mid-air before it rushed toward the chief mage again with speed no less than a bullet.
Wham!
The metal scarab rammed at the protection spell the chief mage had prepared beforehand, and the blue glass-like crack appeared in midI air, indicating the power behind that attack. The metal scarab stopped in mid-air as the protection spell second function to stop anything that managed to crack the protection spell was activated.
"Hmph!!" The chief mage snort then uses this chance to regather his magical power and boost his physical enhancement even further and punch at the metal scarab again.
Boom!
This time the force of the head magician's fist crushed the metal scarab and broke it into pieces, while the sonic boom followed, the furniture broke, and the wall and the ceiling got cracked from the collision between the head magician and the metal scarab.
Since the head of the police section was also protected by the head magician, he could clearly see the scene in front of him despite the collateral damage and was stunned by what he had seen. He knows about the strength of the head mage and knows that the first blow could easily penetrate the wall, but the second blow? That was a whole different level.
The head mage, still on guard and not powering down his spell, picked up a small piece of the metal scarab he had just destroyed and looked at it.
"This metal scarab is very sturdy, I don't know what it was made of but it could endure my first punch that could punch through the wall without much damage. Its creator should have at least the rank of master Artificer." The had mage said while looking at the scrap pieces of the metal scarab.
"You said there were at least thousands of these things. Is it true?" He asked the police section chief.
"Yes… I saw them with my own eyes. If you don't believe me, you can also ask my subordinates who went with me today." Answered the police section chief.
"No need, I believe you." The head mage said then open the door and walk outside the room.
"Wha… what happened Klause, Are you ok?" The redhead secretary asks worriedly as she immediately rushes to the head mage who just got out of the room.
"I'm ok, Grace. Can you call the magical forensic department for me? I need them to check and salvage the strange bug-like artifact constructed in my room within 30 minutes. Tell them that this is class 1 urgency." Klause, the head magician replies while powering down his spell and sits down on a sofa nearby then closes his eyes resting.
"Yes! immediately." The redhead then went to the phone on her desk and busied herself with relaying the order from Klause.
"Royal mage chief." The police section chief called out to him who is still resting.
"What?" The head magician opened his eyes in annoyance and looked at the one who called him.
"For my reference when I need to engage that mage again and need to destroy his metal scarab. Er… How powerful is your second punch? In terms of… firepower." Asked the head police.
The head magician then thought about it for a moment before answering.
"Hmm… To put it simply, It should equal the impact of the explosion of an anti-tank missile. But for your reference in destroying that thing. I think if you could find a weapon that could pierce through the standard APC armor. You should be able to destroy that thing easily."
p?nd?`no??1--?o? Hearing that the head police let out a weak smile. How could he find that thing easily? The best weapon he could find in the royal police armory was assault rifles and submachine guns. Those things can't even scratch on those metal scarabs as he was the one who saw it first hand.
The best weapon he could think of that could spray that kind of powerful and destructive rain of bullets while light enough to be carried around by a few people was a .50 caliber machine gun.
Well… maybe he might be able to get back at that mage!
Thinking about being able to return the humiliation to the mage he encountered when he was out. A vicious grin appeared on the police section chief's mouth.
Seeing that, Klause let out a sigh and then decided to rest his eyes but still gave out a warning to this unpleasant work colleague of his.
"Don't think that you could get back at that Master Artificer, You said that there are thousands of those scarabs right? There was a very high chance that what you saw was just the tip of an iceberg. Besides, he could use dark magic and his mastery over dark magic was at an absurd level. If he's willing, He could use a curse to easily kill you while enjoying his meal at home."
The warning from Klause made the police section chief's face pale. He immediately snuffs his will for revenge.
"A master artificer… and a dark mage who is absurdly good at dark magic huh? This guy is very dangerous, he might not be as destructive as Wrath 5 years ago, but the troublesomeness might be higher than a rabid dog such as her." Klause muttered before he let his fatigue take him to sleep.
Unknown to anyone in the room, all of the conversation within this room until now was heard by a second metal scarab that was hidden within the room air vent on the ceiling.
—
– Morning – Daniel's safe house –
After the people from the Veneziale family came to compensate the hobos as per his request and bring the three hobos to temporarily live in one of the family apartments. Daniel returned to rest in the safe house Wrath gave him.
He got up a little bit late because of last night's problem with the Veneziale gang and those royal polices.
He didn't know about the stunt his two little metal scarabs made after he had put them on auto mode to spy on that police officer because he was already asleep like a log by the time the chief mage destroyed one of his metal scarabs.
Daniel took a bath and ate some instant noodles with an egg while sitting near the window watching the view outside, chilling before looking at the instant noodle cup in his hand. Seeing a remnant of a boiled egg he made in the instant noodle cup, he let out a long sigh.
"Haaa…. If I knew that this thing would have happened I would have designed a cooking golem in the card." He complained to himself before swallowing all of the remaining noodles and boiled egg.
After finishing with his easy meals he comes to the workshop and starts summoning the creature in the card he longed to summon the first time he got his hand on it.
The "Michaela - Defender of the Faith" card.
