“Oh really? Are you sure you succeeded?” Huo Yao’s frosty voice suddenly echoed through the private airport lounge.
Shangguan Hou narrowed his eyes and hastily turned his head the moment he heard the voice.
Huo Yao had already stood up. Her dark coat brought out the coldness on her face. Judging by the look in her eyes, she was sharp and alert even though he had used a strong sedative on her.
“How could you be conscious?” Shangguan Hou looked at her in disbelief.
Since he was worried something might go wrong, he even injected her with a second dose of sedative.
Shangguan Hou looked at her closely as he contemplated. A notion suddenly emerged in his mind. “I made a mistake. The sedative didn’t work on you right from the start. You simply pretended that it affected you and let me take you!”
She had faked it that she was drugged so that she could find Mi Wei.
No wonder things progressed so smoothly when he went after her.
Shangguan Hou narrowed his eyes solemnly.
Huo Yao flicked the dust from her clothes and looked calm and relaxed. “From the looks of it, you aren’t as dumb as I expected.”
Mi Wei felt bad that Huo Yao was kidnapped by Shangguan Huo, but the moment he heard her voice, he turned his head to look at her. When he saw the familiar look on her face, his eyes suddenly became teary.
Even though they did not encounter each other in the best of situations, he was relieved that she was alive.
Shangguan Hou watched Huo Yao as she approached him. The atmosphere turned tense and he instinctively felt threatened.
Since he did not expect her to wake up from the sedative, he did not tell his men to tie her up.
Shangguan Hou knew he was no match for Huo Yao, so he promptly reached his hand out and grabbed Mi Wei by the throat. Before he knew it, Mi Wei was attacked by his weakness.
Mi Wei promptly choked and had trouble breathing.
Shangguan Hou continued holding Mi Wei by the neck as he looked at Huo Yao coldly. “If you come any closer, I can’t promise that I won’t kill him.”
Huo Yao did not stop. She seemed completely unfazed and did not look worried about his threat.
Shangguan Hou frowned, but there was no anxiety on his face. He had Mi Wei hostage and his men were waiting outside, so he was unafraid of Huo Yao at this moment.
As he pondered, his hand suddenly let go of his grip on Mi Wei. He discovered that he had difficulty moving.
A serious look emerged on Shangguan Hou’s face as he lay prone on his back. He had a keen interest in medicine, so he knew she must have used some kind of a drug on him.
He was unable to figure out what she had used on him to make him react this way. Since he was in frequent contact of medicine, he had already gained a degree of immunity against medicine over the years.
Shangguan Hou could not wrap his mind around it. He tilted his head sideways and looked at Huo Yao worriedly. He gritted his teeth and asked. “What did you use on me?”
Huo Yao walked over and reached her hand out to take Mi Wei’s pulse without so much as looking at him.
His pulse was weak but he was not in any immediate danger.
Huo Yao heaved a sigh of relief. She retrieved her silver needles and applied them to some acupuncture points on Mi Wei’s head. She asked him. “Do you feel better now?”
Mi Wei nodded. “Feels a lot better now. I’m not giddy anymore.”
“Uh huh,” acknowledged Huo Yao. She stopped talking and helped Mi Wei get up from the bed.
Mi Wei promptly pulled his hand back after glancing at Shangguan Hou and said, “Just go.”
